  1. difficult one - do you cut your losses on a player that may struggle at Prem (I think more down to personnal issues than football) If he is poor on the pitch for us then will his value go down. Then again - if he start playing regular - he may just start to feel more settled personnal issues go out of the door - and he becomes a legend. You just can't underestimate the impact of feeling depressed for want of a better word.
  2. Nugent is pacey from all accounts - but not as pacey or as powerful as Jerome Cameron (sorry to keep going on about him)
  3. I have voted Yes as basically we HAVE to bring in another striker. We may just have to up the bids on some of the player we have been in for. I am sure WBA will part with Earnshaw for £2.5M- to be honest a £1.5M offer is taking the piss of WBA to be honest. I can see Moyes is only really thinking of him as a stop gap until the summer - but clubs aren't going to give players away.
  4. Yeah, I think Earnshaw is a better goal scorer than Bent - but maybe not a better player. I think that has been Robson's main problem with him. His overall play and controbution. I know a few Cardiff City fans (as I live in South Wales) and they always said he isn't really much of a player - but just kept scoring goals and always has done. The big question is can we afford to have a player like this in the team - he will score goals, but the other 9 outfeild player may have to 'cover' his general play. So in a away he maybe the opposite of what Bent gave us last year - played well up front but just didn't score many. His signiture does pose a risk in my opinion - especially when is general playing ability is a known weakness - is this risk worth £2.5M? If nobody else is available for the right money this January window (which is the usual case in January unless you have silly money) then it has to be a definate Yes in my opinion.
  5. No chance in Koldroup going this January (especially for a lose)- as mentioned not with Yobo away for the African Cup. Strong rumours though that he just hasn't settled at all - so may not be down to just the footballing side - If he did go for £3.5 M in the summer - Then clubs (including ours) have lost a lot lot more than £1 - 2M on players. So not ideal but not the end of the word for every Cahill and Arteta you are going to ge the odd Koldroup. That football
  6. add to those Jerome Cameron - Cardiff (my personal fav young Championship striker - strong, bags of pace and can score) Arsenal will vouch about how much a handful he was against them.
  7. Agree whole heartedly - If Moyes was willing to pay £6.5M for Beattie (and I think he will be value now we are strating to see the real player) then AJ is in the same bracket for sure - so the value for mnoey argument is not valid on this one. Although, likley that Palace will want nearer £10M. With £2.5M or so for Bent that only leaves £5.0 to find, come on we need to take a few risks - and with the players we have in the squad I think a pacey striker and hard worker like AJ would really take the team forward. I think some of our recent downfalls is down to the fact we do lack pace in the side and teams are able to condence us on the pitch. I really think a decent pacey striker could be the key to really unlocking the squads true potential.
  8. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/index.php?page_id=8809 Bent to Charlton for £2.5M Think Everton have approached him, he has said he is desperate to come back to the Prem, but is quoted as saying 'I don't want to go to Goodison - Well Fu*k him then. - Better to know that now - Than him to tell his international manager he is only at the club for the money
  9. Good - didn't want him at the club to be honest- not a player that would improve the squad based on his recent record. If he does well at Bolton - then well done Sam. Big risk though.
  10. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/index.php?page_id=8778 The official Everton web site news of the day is players who sign for other clubs. "look at what you could have won!" as Jim Bowen used to say. I can read about other clubs on Sky Sports and other general football web sites.
  11. Cheers Adam, I though I was seeing thinks when I look back on the site, and the story had changed - felt a bit of a knob to be honest - at least I have got a witness For some reason I can't ever open NSNO sites - I just get a blank screen.
  12. emm - the tag on to the article I posted has now changed from signed for Everton to Put a bid in - got a feeling I could end up with egg on my face posting Anelka signs - I'll get my coat http://www.newsnow.co.uk/newsfeed/?name=Everton
  13. http://www.sportnetwork.net/main/s481/st88591.htm?fromrss=1 I think -
  14. Thats right, in two or three games time the 'high' of all the money and new players will have gone, and playing them would be fine. But we end up playing them away when all there player will be chomping at the bit to play and make a impact with the manager. A win against Portsmouth this weekend would be a very good result now.
  15. I have thought that Davies has looked a lot better of late than the first few months at the club. But his own admission he does take a while to settle in to new surroundings . I think I have said before, that his not an out and out winger anyhow, more a right sided midfeilder. I actually think Davies is a good player, who is not yet on top of his game for Everton. He isn't a eye catching type player I will agree, but does a good job for the team. He is one player who in my opinion is suffering because of the general nervouness the team has suffered overall this season. Verdict - Not bad, but not great - more to come from him I am sure.
  16. I am welsh - but very handsome - So I'm probabley alright
  17. I think Real discovered he wasn't really the player that took to the pitch for us between August '04 and January '05. He REALLY wants to go to MAN U. Don't see that he would take either Cahills or Arteta place in the starting 11 He is now on huge wages. He doesn't REALLY want to come back to Goodison. Don't forget if we hadn't sold him to Real in January - he would have walked for nothing this summer. We have basically had Arteta in his place fees wise. Which suits me. Would you swop the two of them now????? He had a decent 6 months last season - But don't put him on a pedestool he doesn't really deserve to be on.
  18. Two in the centre - Neville Arteta Cahill Davies Carsley Osman Plenty of players capable of covering the middle-
  19. Come on get real - the top clubs have no problem attracting players and have the finances to back it all up. We neither have the credibility yet or the finances to pay top players or draw the cream of young players to our club. Look at the likes of this Theo Walcott - in days gone by he would come to clubs like our as a potential stepping stone. We have had this discussion before (SWP) they now get bought up straight away buy the big guns and are happy to sit on benchs - gotta be at a club who win and pay big money now a days. In January a lot of the other player who move are usually not part of their current clubs plans - i.e not good enough. Yes, I would like to see a couple of new faces, but if it is only rubbish that are willing to come here this time of year - I would rather do with out. Based on the current club profile - to get really good players we would have to throw money at them. Although, I would say the clubs profile over the last 18 months is as good as its ever been in the Prem. You don't just buy sh1t for the sake of buying it. We have see enough money wasted on that over the past 10 years.
  20. http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=35...aims+United+bid Looks very likley if you ask me. At least he won't play aginst us this season unless we beat Chelsea in the 4th round of the FA cup
  21. I don't know if he was a real target. I think Niemi had a great season for Southampton the year they got to the cup final - But other than that I don't really think is all that to be honest. There has been very little real interest in the player considering the likes of Man U and Arsenal have been desperate for keepers over some periods of the last 12 months. I don't think we were ever in for him to be honest.
  22. http://advfn.oddschecker.com/advfn/mode/f/...550x/sid/803467 I think playing Portsmouth away this weekend is probabley the worst time to play them all season. A couple of weeks ago they didn't have a lot to shout about - Now they are fairly bussy in the transfer market with few bob behind them. Think the players will be looking forward to getting out on the pitch against us. Bad luck the timing of this fixture - I think a point would be a decent return now, all things considered. 1-1 Beattie for us.
  23. I don't know, I think we have tried to sign a few more players than some of us have given the management credit for. Not really there fault if some one like the skunks nip in and offer a shed load more wages - We are not finacially able to compeate - Mark my words if Newcastle continue to spend in the fasshion they have been and don't get a sniff of CL football (which looks no nearer than 12 months ago) they WILL be the next Leeds Utd. I wouldn't be suprised if shepards ar*e is starting to twitch a bit when he looks at the books. There are a lot of players on big money at that club. Can they risk bringing another in? If Anelka goes to the Toon, they HAVE to give him very good money just to be on par with the rest of the squad.
  24. Am afraid to say a promising career prematurley ended - Not Prem standard now .
  25. To be honest if Anelka does sign for us either permentely or on loan, I would say it would be a bit of a coup for us. I would never have expected us to sign a player of his caliber this january to be honest. You look at all the deals that have been done so far this transfer window and nothing sticks out as a bit of business I wish we had done. Still a long way to go, but I have my fingers crossed for the deal coming off, because I think he is a great player to have in the team and signing players like him WOULD show progress.
