  1. he is 20 years old and 6ft 3in. STATS All played for SC Heerenveen in Holland (but a lot of his starts have been as subs in the first two seasons) Season Played Goals Age 2002/'03 15 4 17/18 2003/'04 27 4 18/19 2004/'05 31 11 19/20 2005/'06 16 7 20 Total 88 25 Not to shabby for a player who doesn't turn 21 until next month. "Manchester City have tabled a firm bid for Hereenveen's highly-rated Greek striker, Georgios Samaras, the Dutch club have revealed. City are keen to bolster their forward line, and a target man such as Samaras would provide them with a different option to the pace of first-choice pairing Andy Cole and Darius Vassell. And with £40,000-a-week striker Robbie Fowler rumoured to be on his way out of Eastlands, boss Stuart Pearce would see Samaras as a useful addition to the squad. The 20-year-old has scored 25 goals in 87 appearances for Herenveen since breaking into the team as a teenage prodigy in 2002. However, he has stated in recent weeks that he is keen to move to a bigger club and last week told a Dutch newspaper that he was keen on a foreign switch either this month or over the summer..." So he is a highly rated - teenage prodigy - Target man (as opposed to pacey). Sounds like a replacment for Big Dunc in my opinion. Can't really underestimate the importance of having a Big Dunc type in your squad. So I would be glad to see a 20 year old replacement come in. As these are difficult player to get hold of. I think its no coincidence that Liverpool look a lot better this season with Crouch in the team -
  2. I remember it well - was always my first buy in the transfer market
  3. Bent is good when he is up for it - but I would say loses interest easily. May be an indication of why he has had so many club - Enthusiastic at the beginning - but gets complacent once settled at a place - Will probabley do well at Charlton bettween now and May - lose the initial buzz of a fresh start and be a ordinary player come next season, when he is no longer the new face. We got very good value out of him - but can't see that he would as influencial as last season ever again. If it meant keeping him in the starting line up to get last season form - Well I don't think he did well enough that we shouldn't be looking to have a better starter up front. He was good value. Good return selling for £2.5M - can't see him ever being worth more.
  4. I have read £7.25M - that truly is top doller for a decent striker, but no real pace. Norwich did well on that one.
  5. Arsenal were keen on him in the summer.
  6. I am so glad for James Beattie, he had a horrible time for his first 9 months of his Goodison career - (a lot down to injuries than can happen to any player). But since he has had a decent run in the team, I think he has shown he is a good buy for us. His work rate in all the games has been great - he looks very fit and very strong - All this culminated in the goal he scored today.Should have scored a second, though. I hope all you who have been down on him for the first 9 months are now glad to be eating your words. Over the past 15 league games he has been one, if not our best and most consistent players overall. And becasue of all the injuries he has had this is basically all we SHOULD be judgong him on. I also thought Osman had a very good game - and beattie giving him the Champers was a nice touch. But the whole team deserve credit today - becasue in the main we limited Arsenal to pot shots on our goal. To be honest all in all we created the better chances in the main. This game should boost the confidence of the squad no end.
  7. Some good odds available on this - Everton to kick it 1-0 1/12 Beattie 8/1 first goal scorer - striker at home who taken pens - good odds. Arsenal left back not available - Arteta at 1/22 . Might draw one or two free kicks
  8. It is in the news that Arsenal have no recognised left back available for the game - Arteta may have a bit of joy down the right flank then.
  9. He couldn't settle in Sunderland as he was basically commuting there. I don't think his heart was in moving there at all - He knows Everton, the Manager, the set up, the player (most). No settleing in period - I bet he is cockahoop about coming back. He is not the same player in a Sunderland shirt as he is in an Everton shirt. He will be playing to make sure he can be at Goodison more than 6 months. Ferrari showing good form and wanting to stay at centre back is probabley another reason Kroldroup left. Still wish Yobo was not in the African Cup though, player of the season for me so far, and will be missed, whoever plays at CB.
  10. Blueboy21 stopped posting around the time Stubbs left. Come on work it out Scouse. Love a good theory - Is Blueboy21 Alan Stubbs????
  11. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/index.php?page_id=8861 I wonder if Anelka came out with his 'dreaming' quote, as he was hurt that Everton didn't really want him based on his demands and bad attitude. My guess is Moyes had spoken to some of Anelka's former managers.
  12. He really has rubbished that worrying agent talk - said he is very happy. He is now going to get his chance in his fav position. I think Moyes allowing Kroldroup to go, may also be an indication that Ferrari may be very interested in signing a deal and Moyes is very happy with him as a centre back. Every cloud
  13. He is only a boy of 16 - the only place he will be loaned back to is Southampton. The main reasons for loaning him back is - 1. Its part of the transfer deal 2. because he may need time to adjust to moving to London - family and all that. It is nothing to do with football really - so forget him coming to the North West
  14. Don't think that is the case at all. Bent has done bugger all this season - so it would be madness to turn down £2.5M for him. Charltons offer made it impossible to turn down. Kroldroup is going becasue he can't cut it in the UK and Prem. Good he is going now if this is the case. Quality player don't yet see Everton as a great destination. We have to offer stupid money to compeate with Newcastle's, Spurs and even Middlesbroughs. (Not even mentioning the top four). So we have to compeate with the rest of the teams in the Prem for the best of the players that the bigger teams don't want. It is very competative in our section of the market for players.
  15. Expect Alan Subbs's return within the week. If Kroldroup can't get his head around being in the UK are Prem football then it's best all around and we move on - I expect he will be sold for and undisclosed fee (£3-4M my guess). You make on some (Bent) and lose on others. Swings and roundabouts as they say. Every transfer is a risk - out of all Moyes's buys at present I would only class Wright and Kroldroup as real flops. For every Yobo you get a Kroldroup, for every Alonso you get a Cisse, for every Rossi you have a Forlan and for every Lampard you get a Crespo and for every Shearer you get a Robert, a Luque, a Bramble and a Boumsong I think a return of two out of three good buys if as good as return as you could hope for. I am not going to lose any sleep over losing £1.5M on a player as some clubs lose a whole load more than that on players. Yes, a bit embaressing for Moyes, but at least they are holding hands up and getting rid.
  16. I am embarrest to say I was hoping we would sign him. What an arrogent wan8er to come out any say that -
  17. Fowler (£1M say) and Cameron Jerome (£3M) for me then please. we can afford both these players in my opinion (wages and transfer fees) - You have both youth and experience and coming to Everton would be a good challenge for both these players at this time in their careers.
  18. I really can't see 'silly money' Moyes parting with £1.2M for a player who has only played 6 months of First divison football, played most of his football in second division, is 29 and has no pace. He only put in a £1.5M for Earnshaw who has three hot Championship year, and 14 goals in a Prem season. Just can't see that sort of money being paid. But the player is WORTH that to SWANSEA - as he could be the difference between Championship and first divison football to them next season.
  19. To be honest from what I have seen of Bent this season - Just as well with £2.5M for him and playing with 10 men for the last 20 min of a game. so I am not sure somebody is lined up becasue of the sale.
  20. I work with a PNE supporter and he says Nugent is adecent, pacey player, but not really anything that special
  21. I read in the paper that Man City have offerd him half his wages (£18,000 week offer to play next season) Now with him out of contract in the summer any fee this January is going to be nominal - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/bsp/hi...owler_14793.stm Now I have just looked at his stats and I am suprised that his goal/game ratio for Man City over the two and half years is about 1 in 3. With his career ratio near 1 in 2. Now if we are talking a fee of less than £1M and wages less than £20,000 - I am of the opinion that given our current striking option - he may not be a bad player to bring in to the squad - if you can get past the Liverpool cast off part of the deal. I would imagine to a certain extent that a move for Fowler to the blue side of Merseyside could give him the drive to have one last hurrah in prem football. Another risk in buying him, but given the current market could be an viable option. If we really have been looking at the likes of Jansen and Dickov, then maybe Fowler isn't that bad an option.
  22. difficult one - do you cut your losses on a player that may struggle at Prem (I think more down to personnal issues than football) If he is poor on the pitch for us then will his value go down. Then again - if he start playing regular - he may just start to feel more settled personnal issues go out of the door - and he becomes a legend. You just can't underestimate the impact of feeling depressed for want of a better word.
