  1. I think we are definitely moving towards a younger team that could develop together. Patterson (21), Branthwaithe (21), Godfrey (25), Mykolenko (24) Onana (21), Garner (22), McNeil (23), Dele/Iwobi (27), Danjuma (26) DCL (27)/ Chermiti (19)) I am not suggesting that's our best team as we have Gana, Young, Tarkowski and Doucs who would all probably get in the starting 11 on game day 1, but I can start to see a good nucleus of a team developing - there are 6 or 7 players that you would hope will improve this season. Average age of those listed is 23.5.
  2. I don't have a problem with Che Adams coming in. Would have much preferred him over Maupy last season. He actually has some decent attributes, with pace being one and battling qualities another. Can see him costing the earth fee or wages wise. I would swap him for Grey in our squad - that might work out fairly cost neutral, or not massively different.
  3. Footballing talents to one side (as with any 19 year old they are going to be pretty raw Premiership level anyhow) - but physically he looks like he would be a nightmare for defenders - you are not winning many balls ahead of him at 6'4". Just having a forward that give defenders a difficult time is better than what we currently have beyond DCL. He could turn out a decent bit of business. I do like the fact we seem to be looking beyond the obvious signing. Scouting Report: Youssef Chermiti Share Sporting Clube Portugal is having an outstanding european season, upsetting Arsenal in Europa League´s round of 16 and being alive and with chances against juventus in their quarter final draw. They have a good mix between experienced and professional footballers and young potential talents. One of those young talents, who emerged mid season in the first team is Youssef Chermiti, who seems to have established himself as a crucial player in the starting XI. Youssef Chermiti, born on the 24/05/2004 is a Portuguese attacker who has recently had an incredible impact in Sporting Portugal. Being an academy player since 2016, he has played for all the young squads, before having his breakthrough this year, after leaving an incredible output in Sporting´s B squad. He has already participated in 4 goals (2 scored and 2 assisted) for Sporting Portugal in just 718 minutes played this season. Chermiti is a pure striker, who mainly operates as the main reference, but has capacities and ability to play alongside another forward. He stands out for his great physicality, explosiveness, sense of goal and eccentricity. The Portuguese suits perfectly in Sporting’s dynamic and mobile system, always providing a way of projecting into attack for his team. As Sporting proposes combinative football starting from his own goal and attracting rivals to high positions, his presence in the pitch becomes the main target when needed to play directly. When the pressing obligates to hit long throws, his outstanding ability to play with the back to the goal is key, protecting the Ball and holding the play. His huge physicality is key there, as it allows him to absorb impacts, being tough to get the ball off him. He perfectly dominates the ball in those situations and plays fast and easy, allowing his team to play in transition to the wingers attacking the space he has created by dragging center backs out of position. He is clever enough to reads teammate´s movements in order to detect spaces, commonly in a vertical way, provided by his elevated pace. He also possesses good aerial game, and is strong in offensive ground duels, allowing his team to construct plays in advanced positions, by midfielders activating fastly after long throws and winning second plays Chermiti has fought for. Despite playing an important role when adopting those positions far from rivals' penalty areas, he prefers and becomes much more dangerous when operating around the opponent´s penalty boxes. His movements off the ball inside and near the penalty area are really good, being explosive and unpredictable. He looks for defenders blind side and feints a lot attacking first or second post, obtaining dangerous spots inside the penalty area. Example of that is his elevated stats of touches inside the penalty area, being one of the forwards with more touches in the box per 90 minutes of the whole Primeira Liga. When it comes to finishing, stats show low output, scoring 0.24 goals per 90 minutes less than expected. Moreover, he has shown high quality finishing playing in lower categories, so his inexperience in top leagues may be a key factor to explain that occurrence. He possesses high quality finishing with both feet in one on one situations, and superb heading, which will for sure make him score loads of goals when adapting and getting used to playing at the highest level. Far from finishing, his technical skills could be improved. He is not the kind of forward who comes to receive and associate with teammates, as his passing is not accurate enough, despite having great vision. In that fact, his decision making in the last third may be another aspect to improve, seeming accelerated and nervous by times. When facing rivals, is a dangerous player in one on one situations in open space, with great change of pass, velocity and ball conduction, whereas he does not feel comfortable in tight spaces, as his ball dominance and coordination are improvable despite having good first touch. What is remarkable in his game is his bravery and determination in all his actions. He is also intense in the defensive phase. Despite not tracking back and remaining as the main reference to provide the possibility of counterattacking, he is an active element in the pressing. Chermiti is a high intensity and insistent player that reads the game well and is aware of rivals positions. That allows him to avoid passing lanes and their advance, being percentile 75 between strikers in passes blocked/90. Having made his professional debut just four months ago, he is already a key element at a top European club at just 18 years old. Having innate qualities and great attitude, he will surely improve his attributes and become a striker to take into account in the world of football. Click here to see full scouting report
  4. It will be interesting to see who he signs for next week.
  5. I was complaining that Gnonto was a bit on the small size, but this lads a giant - good old Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youssef_Chermiti
  6. As people have said lack of finishing, but no DCL or Danjuma playing (arguable our two best finishers) and the club currently appear to be work hard to bring another striker in. So at the moment as long as we are creating that the main thing the as more clinical finishers yet to step on the pitch. Dyche seems to be trying our what else he has at his disposal in these first few friendlies - i.e is Dobbin worthy of a place in the squad or another year out on loan. I personally think he needs a 'do or die' period with the first team now.
  7. I do actually have a degree of sympathy for Moshiri - he has actually been very good at putting money in to the club and has come up trumps with the new stadium, after decades of thinking about it. I do believe he has done things with good intentions. But the execution has been diabolical and a lesson in how not to run a football club. How much of this was Usmananov behind the scene we will never know - a case of maybe too many cooks spoiling the broth. Moshiri-Kenwright-Usmananov has just turned out to be a complete car crash. The ban on Russia money has really his us hard this past 12 months with drop in sponsorships etc we had , but ultimately in the longer run I think getting away from the Usmananov influence will be a blessing in discuses. I think plenty of our problems actually lead back to him.
  8. I guess the more moves the better for the agents. Year in Italy, then another move next year to Premiership for a bigger fee - I guess would suit an agent nicely. Or is that being to cynical?
  9. We are shopping in the right sort of window. If players chose elsewhere over us, then so be it. We can't be paying over the odds on wages on players that are still really only prospects. On the back of two relegation fights and boardroom turmoil, we are currently seen as a dynamic improving club. What the club needs to be focusing on is changing the perception of Everton FC to up and coming players. Plenty of fish in the seas as they say. (well up until the end of August!)
  10. I can't say I know a great deal about him, but must be highly rated at the fees being discussed. All for buying quality young players, especially when we have already signed Danjuma for the season. Means that there is not too much pressure on young players coming to a new league. These types should always be considered as a plan B ( impact subs, cover injury/suspensions, cup games), in the hope they develop in to Plan A players.
  11. When I see any player come through the door - the first criteria has to be 'are they better than what we have already got'. Danjuma well and truly ticks that box. I maybe would have preferred a permanent signing, but that's where we are at as a club. As well as being a talented player, Danjuma looks like he is coming in as very hunger player. Even if the hunger is aimed at showcasing how good he is other teams as much as us, that hunger helps benefits us this season. If it all turns out a happy and fruitful relationship for both parties - then come next season we may well be in the boss seat for him signing him on a longer deal. This season is about moving in a positive direction and getting some pride back in the club. I think this signing increases the chances of that happening, and I am glad it's done, and he has a fair few weeks with the squad before the season starts.
  12. I also think from a footballing side that we will probably benefit from not going on a mini tour this season. Might not be ideal from a marketing point of view - but at the moment getting off to a good start in the league has to be the priority.
  13. Don't see how you can judge him of already of building a Burnley type team - Danjuma is only the second player to come it under his stewardship, with Young the first. This is Dyche's first window for building anything. he's dammed if he does and dammed if he doesn't, by the sound of it. Don't want a stereotypical Dyche team, but also don't appear happy with players that don't slot in to the stereotype. I think Danjuma will work fine in both a counter attacking team and also be useful in games where we might dominate the ball a bit more. Like other have said a versatile player across the front line, with two good feet and an eye for goal. I haven't heard of any problems about his general work rate.
  14. What do you mean he's not a Dyche type player. I don't think any of us want a carbon copy Burnley here. I think there is much more to Dyche than what his football was like at Burnley, I am sure he has not come to Everton to try and build a Burnley type squad. Also good to see some consistently in targeted players across different managers, otherwise what is the point of a DoF. Club have done due diligence on Danjuma, so nothing wrong in pursuing him if Dyche agrees he would be a beneficial addition to the squad. On to many occasions the club has swung between the whims of different managers tastes in players. Dyche has had discussions with Danjuma by accounts. He may not be the best out there, but I don't think Damjuma is a slouch when it comes to defensive duties, but with pace, trickery, unpredictability and goal scoring abilities I am sure he will work well in a team that will be utilizing counter attacking as a major part of the offensive game. I think he will turn out to be a good player for us, and is a significant improvement on Gray.
  15. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/player-analysis-arnaut-danjuma/ I am looking forward to seeing him get a good run of games. It sounds as though he will offers a lot more offensively and at least give opposition teams something to think about.
  16. https://tbrfootball.com/everton-now-one-step-away-from-signing-exceptional-27m-forward-pl-rival-turned-down-this-summer/ I would feel a whole lot more optimistic if both Gnonto and Danjuma where added to the squad. I think Gnonto is still to young to be consider week in week out starter, so a Danjuma on loan for 12 months help give the young lad some breathing space to develop at a steady pace. I think the two in tandem would be a good move. finger crossed on the pair of them.

  18. Think it good aiming to get your team one of the fittest in the league.
  19. I just don't feel our transfer team are dynamic enough to get a deal done in a day or two. but Maupay as a down payment on a 25M euro deal for Dia would be a great deal for us. Dia seems to score everywhere he goes and would fit in to a low possession system from what I have read. I won't hold my breath.
  20. lets hope this season our luck turns a bit - - Patterson and Garner cement places in our starting line up, - DCL simply stays fit for the lion's share of games, - Dele becomes a player reborn, - Onana kicks on and becomes more consistent and - left back position improves simply due to better competition. I think it is reasonable for any or all these to happen, even half of these happen it makes us instantly a better team. We must be due a bit of good luck!!!
  21. Its a great way to do things if you have a decent enough budget or a good turnover as a club. if we have the money to do our transfer business this way, great let other teams take the initial risks, but I get the impression money is tight with us this season, so this might be our 'big' signing. I think people are already burdening this 19 year old as being 'ready' to be a premier league mainstay. He is far from a finished article. We have seen enough players this age shine for a season or half a season and then dip significantly, sometime they come back and shine again and sometimes they don't. I don't have a problem with buying young talented players this way - but a 19 year old should not be considered our 'Plan A' going in to next season as in all likelihood it will be another relegation battle. If he shines and does become one of the first names on the team sheet, then brilliant - massive bonus. However, as such a young fella he should also be allowed the time and patience to develop. Will we have this patience if a massive chuck of our transfer budget is spent on him and he doesn't hit the ground running as Plan A? A far more seasoned McNeil got plenty of stick in the first half of last season for not doing the business.
  22. Like you said a lot of hypotheticals - but if he is as good as we hope (or need him to be) - he could be a massive part in possibly bring Leeds straight back to the Premiership. I just don't think Leeds need to sell him quick or at any sort bargain price. Age wise Mitoma is at his peak at 26, so don't quite get the comparison. Brighton seem to have a great scouting network, and got Mitoma at a bargain. We are not going to be buying a bargain - we will be paying market rate, possibly a bit more for where Gnonto is right now. Brighton's skill is they pick up players before they are discovered by the Premiership. We are going to have to now pay top dollar for Gnonto, 12 months after Leeds payed a modest fee for him. That's not great or clever scouting or transfer dealing on Everton's part. In fact its piss poor. If we are a club on it financial arse then we need to be finding are own Mitoma's and Gnonto's, before they actually grace the Premiership. 12 months ago he cost less than £5M, signed a 5 year contract on wages that would be peanuts by Premiership standard. Anyway, we have probably done the hard work in destabilising the player, working up to a fee Leeds might take, only to then watch Villa nip in and buy him in anycase.
  23. but would it wouldn't be a surprise to me if he has chosen another club over us (and it needn't be a great club either). We all know we where desperate to get some bodies in January and we just could not get a single deal over the line. It was embarrassing. Having seen us snubbed no end in the last window, until I see some deals come good in this, the I can't help but be skeptical.
  24. https://tbrfootball.com/electric-21-year-old-pl-star-has-decided-his-next-club-but-its-unlikely-to-be-everton/ This is a worrying continuation of what we saw in January. Plays just don't find us an attractive destination, in fact it is the very opposite. The more players that turn coming here down, then the worst we look as a club. 'If x,y and z don' t fancy going to Everton, not sure I fancy it either'. We desperately need a bit of a shift in momentum in the transfer market and in the club perception, we all saw what happened when the club left it to the final week in January.
  25. but Leeds can quite easily hold out to the 11th hour for a top fee for him. As worst case outcome for Leeds is they are left with a player they can afford and would want to actually remains on their books - happy or not, he would just have to knuckle down and get on with it, he's got loads left on his contract. Leeds would still demand a decent fee in January or next summer. Taking Everton out of the equation, half or whole season playing week in and week out at Championship level would most likely be the best thing for him development wise. I don't see him coming here and being a week in week out starter.
