  1. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/maxwel-cornet/alletore/spieler/234781 I think there may be a decent chance he comes in if Iwobi leaves. Just looking at his stats - offers a lot more cover over a number of positions that I thought he would and I have to say has far more of a goal threat than Iwobi. Not sure why he didn't get on the pitch much at West Ham, shows 22 app, with only 620 min, so not a great deal of game time. No goals but still managed 5 assists. Not a million miles away from Iwobi's direct attacking contribution, but a load less minutes on the pitch.
  2. Its possible we could see him as very much a different player this season if the burden of him being put on the pitch as our No.9 lone striker. That has hung heavy with him since his arrival and he has been used as a square peg in a round hole out of nessesity in the squad we have. He's never really had a fair crack at his best position. There maybe is a role for him in the squad. When we needed to put the pressure on last night, he definatley brought something of the bench and added to our attacking threat. Very much involved in the winner. If Iwobi does go this window, then we might be glad of Maupy to come on and play more as a 4-4-2 as we try and change a game in the final 20-30mins. If other personel do leave this window, then I don't beleive there should be to much of a hurry to move Maupy on this transfer window - Especially if his stock is maybe a little low at the moment, and he may flurish with a strong No.9 on the pitch next to him.
  3. I think given our financial position - at this very moment in time every £1M seem to help. If the £7m is able to be invested in to the bona fida first 15-18 players and make the group who take to the pitch stronger, then I don't mind the sale in these sorts of circumstances. We also appear to have put our striker progression planning in to Chermiti - and as we stand he physically has the edge over Cannon. We seem to have a plan - Everton will play with a big physical No.9 and wingers who get crosses in to the box. I don't have a problem with is, and does at least show a bit of joined up thinking. Invest money on young big physical strikers and some decent winger and crosses of the ball. but this may come at the expense of letting others go, especially when money is tight.
  4. Total agree, money we can't really afford to turn down on a player who is walking next summer. Given Iwobi's wages and the fee brought in, there should be a decent wedge to bring in a good quality replacement. £20M is not to be sniffed at. A replacement has to come in though. If we could get a proper winger (preferably a right sided one) in on the back of this sale it would be a massive bonus.
  5. https://www.goodisonnews.com/2023/08/31/everton-investment-talks-farhad-moshiri-777-sports/ There are a lot of red flags for me with this 777 outfit. Even the name makes them sound like a online bookies. Also feels a bit rushed after the full MSP deal not getting over the line. Being positive, this club could have a signifcantly better 'feel' about it in 6 months time. Playing roster seems to slowly getting its self in order financially, new stadium getting ever closer, and dare I say it maybe get away from a relegation battle this season! It would be fool hardy to see the club sold to vultures in a blind panic. Don't want this to be a case of our of the frying pan and into the fat - ownership wise. Moshiri - please get one thing right!!
  6. I though Gana made a massive difference when he came on, to the point that it does worry me that we don't seem to have another who does what he does. I would very much like to see efforts in getting a understudy for his position.
  7. Great debut - has taken the pressure off himself (and our team) with that goal and display. I am sure the team and Beto will be chomping at the bit to play Sheff Utd (bonus them being dumped out the Cup at home last night) at the weekend. The team looked scard to be on the pitch at the start of the game, but lots of smiles in that second half. There will be frustrationg afternoons with him I am sure, but I think for the first time in a long time, and when DCL is fit, an Everton manager will have a make a decision on who the starting striker is going to be. I think he is also going to be a great role model for a young Chermiti.
  8. Get a strong team on the pitch. Team need playing time together in a game that should be a confidence boosting win.
  9. not for me. We have plenty enough cover on the left with McNeil, Danjuma and Harrison all prefering that side if the pitch
  10. I really like the third kid - Striker yesterday, new kit I like day. A couple of wins over the rest on the week, maybe a suprise signing or two would round it off nicely.
  11. When we talk of the like of Brighton etc. This is what they do - put the young players in the team and give them the consistency of regular game time. Garner has been at Man U, had a big competative season for Forest in the Championship, and been at Everton 12 months now. he is now not totally 'green' like say Chermiti. Now is the time to show trust in the ability the club saw in him last season.
  12. As an overseas player, its absolutely brillient that he already feels and association with Everton with some footage of him training in a old kit!! Talk about getting on side with the fans from day 1. I am sure he will genuinley put every effort for the club. That's always a great starting point and been missing on a lot of the dud signings we had in the recent past.
  13. done deal https://www.evertonfc.com/news/3658570/beto-signs-for-everton
  14. Iwobi isn't getting anywhere near a team who are realisticaly going to play CL football. He is at around the level he is ever going to be at. For Everton swap to Fulham - at this moment in time both team very similar - from a football perspective he may as well just sign a new contract with us as go to Fulham. Our sqaud is weaker if he goes, Fulhams is stronger. If he goes, we should ask decent enough money, and ideally bring a replacement - and ideally be a proper right sided player (although these seem to be extremely rare these days!!), be it a loan or permanent. He works hard, does have a bit of quality, but something is just missing with him - goals!!!. he should really be a steady 5-10 goal a season player. Like others have said a Saudi wedge would be the most welcome.
  15. Lots of players go missing in the Premership becasue of the pace and physicallity of the game. This lad is fast, big and strong, so sounds to me like he will enjoy the physicality of the Premiership - so massive box ticked. The lad has had to work very hard to get to where he has got in the game, he not from a footballing background (family wise). Everytime he has moved up a level, he has improved his game and has succeded. He is obviosely a grafter. Based on what I have read I already like his charater. He can obviosely finish, as has a decent strike rate in Seria A. OK, not the premeriship, but a decent enough league. He will suit our team far far more than Maupy and will be a massive upgrade. Once intergrated in to the squad, I think has the attributes to actually challange DCL for the no.1 strikers position. Which we have not had for sometime.
  16. Doucoure. He was unlucky not to make it on to the score sheet. He was looking a bit more like the player of last year under Dyche. Was impressed with Branthwaite. He was and composed and solid at the back, and looked a threat at the other end. He will have tougher days.
  17. Like all signings we just need a bit of luck with him. It sounds like he has all the physical attributed of a decent striker, strength, pace and can finish. From what I have read he appear to be of good character and has had to work hard to get to the position he is in after being let go by Benfica at a young age.
  18. I think that sums it all up pretty well. No point in getting angry and too doom and gloom after days like this -we had a lot of player missing to day, as can throw Iwobi in to the mix as well. The difference to last year and this. We actually deserve to be winning these games, that wasn't the case last season. Our 'performances' so far this season deserve at least 4 points, arguably 6. So sensibly heads heads would simply say, 'early days, things will even themselves out'. Key players to come back, etc, etc. However, that doesn't happen these days. In a clamour for our attention every analyst, lazy arsed pundit journalist and BS artists will sensationalise the whole - zero points, zero goals, worst start ever, Dyche under pressure, club in crisis, blah, blah, blah. Team probably need our support more than ever at the moment. Let's judge what we see with our own eyes, and not by the bullshit others feed us.
  19. We really have not deserved 2 home defeats.
  20. I would put the more experienced Danjuma on the left now, I think he'll do better out there . The Wolve's lad is also on a yellow.
  21. We are just desperate for that first goal. It will lift the tension so much.
  22. I think his stats are pretty good. Could argue they are better than DCL. A player who could actually be serious competition for DCL for the starting striker role.
  23. I thinking there is a slight difference in spending on a single player to fill a very specifc and glaring gap in the squad, a gap that has very near cost us relegation for two seasons on the bounce. That's not quite the same as shooting for the moon, by bringing in a conveyor belt of average players on superstar wages and fees. Another striker coming in immediately takes a lot of pressure off the club, the manager, the team and of DCL.
  24. There is also the fact that the pool of managers we would want at the club but who would be willing to come is vastly shrinking. Its really is not the greatest of gigs at the moment. Another being chewed up and spat out by the club only makes our reputation worst.
