  1. I imagine in an ideal world he would be out on loan (and may do next season) - but we have a pretty thin squadwise this season. I would also guess as he has come from overseas, a season or half a season with the first team at Finch Farm and the experience with matchday squads will give him a great flavour of what he should be working for. I wouldn't have a problem with him going out on a Branthwaithe type loan when the time is right.
  2. The point wasn't that they where massivly successful it was that we didn't lose lots of money on them becasue they where purchased (for fairly decent fees) as young unproved players, but prospects. Most didn't make it as Everton players, but we didn't lose loads of money in fees and wages on them - in fact generally made a modest profit on most, and a massive profit on one. Chermiti is again young potential, but even if he didn't make it as a Everton player, we are more than likley to get at least our money back on this type of signing - thus low risk. I would love to see two or three of this type of player brought in every year.
  3. I put this Chermiti signing in maybe a similar bracket to Stones, Deulofeu, Vlasic, Onyekuru, Lookman, Kean, Besic & Patterson. A reasonable fee for young players but unproven in the Premier league. They are not all going to succeed, but in most cases you would expect to be able to get most of your money back - on average you are not going to lose millions and possibly even turn a modest profit on some of them. Its a near cost neutral approach. I see Chermiti as a low risk stratergy purchase. It's when we have tried to buy more 'proven' player in their prime and at top doller where we have fucked up as a club.
  4. Given our finances we don't have a free run at the market so have to bring in the best we can under the budget constraints we have. I am significantly happier with Beto in the squad than not, and a much more useful player than Maupay and Rondon before him. We now have a reasonable plan B, and argubly also a Plan C with Chermiti if needs must. Last season it was Maupy or Grey or even Gordan having a crack upfront. Beto and Chermiti more so will take a bit of time to find their feet both from moving overseas to a new country and football in the Premeriship. Really little point in disecting performances so early. This few months are about intergrating them in to their new home and the tactics of the team. If DCL got injured now - with his undoubted physicallity I am sure Beto will casuse a fair few headaches for the defending team, and he would grow game by game if was needed in the starting 11, without us having to reinvent how we play as an offensive unit. Rooney was special as a youngster and was phisically pretty mature upper body strength wise - but he also grew up Everton and English football. Big difference packing your bags and leaving home for a new country as a 19 year old. I bet 2 or 3 months ago trying to get in to Everton's first team was nowhere near Chermiti's radar. Rooney was driven by that goal since being a young boy.
  5. I think we have to now give 777 the benefit of the doubt. to quote Moshiri in this news article - "..take the club forward in the modern era. They are highly proffessional.....' This is kind of what we have all been calling for for a number of years. The landscape has definatly changed regarding the investments that can be made in football. We, probabley more so than other fans base, realise that FFP does tie your hands behind your back, you can't simply spend to try and improve the club (unless you get very lucky) big investment in 'better' players simply become a massive gamble for clubs outside the established top 6 (a few who are simply there because FFP didn't used to exist). The modern era is not about simply pumping money in to player transfers and wages (can only do this for a short period before it catches up with you), its now more about generating money and maximising revenue streams. If 777 are all about using sound and sustainable commercial and business accument with top proffessional at the helm then with the new stadium now just around the corner - this has to be the perfect time for clever business savy people to get involved with a club and make the most of the oppertunities that are ahead of Everton. A bit finger cross, but would be the same with any new owner. Now all I really want is 777 to get the best deal possible for themselves (which as Everton's new owners means the best deal for the club), If 777 get us on the 'cheap', it should be to the clubs benefit as less debt burden and thus interest payments etc on the owning entity. I now want to see Moshiri taking as big a financial hit as possible and thus seeing as much money written off as possible through this sale.
  6. Like it or not, attending matches, and open letter - by the day it is looks very much like 777 Partners will be our new owner. As its looks like its happening, I may as well try and dwell on the positives this may bring, as there is not very much I can do about it. If I could complie a list of 10 potential new owners, based on the whisperings about 777 Parters they would probably be near the bottom of my list. However, the massive sticking point is that there does not seem to be a massive list of entities scrambling to purchase us at this very moment. It is painfully obviouse now that Moshiri just wants out and wants this ASAP. So in a way any enthusiastic owner is now better than a disinterested one. Something that I am sure of is that 777 Partnership are very very seriouse about running football clubs - you don't invest money accross multiple clubs without a soild plan and version. Those who run it will have demonstrated to those putting in the money in that thy know what they are doing and have a sound business model and plan. At the moment our only real yard stick is to look at is how other clubs in the group are doing. The initial indicators are acting more like red flags than success stories. However, these other clubs are all also relatively new purchase - so you have to expect a few eggs to be broken when trying to make an omeltte. I think this type of change takes at least 3 to 5 years before you will really see real tangible benefits (unless you get super lucky like Newcastle!!). This purchase and revised operations at the club will be much more of a slow burn that a massive influx of war chest type transfer budgets. A new owner is a shake of the dice, much like buying new players or bring in a new manager in. We (and 777) will need a litttle bit of luck along the way. We have all been clamouring for new owners and a new board for sometime - especially a owner who brings 'proffessionalisum' to suit the modern game. It looks like we are going to get it. 777 Partners seem to be the only bunch who are willing to put money where their mouth is and see the potential of Everton. We know we will be at the top of their mutliclub model, which could benefit us massivley in the longer term. Their staff will all be working very hard to make this club a success both off and of the pitch - becasue this is the only way they and their investment clients turn any sort of profit. let just hope our luck changes a bit with this shake of the dice.
  7. No obvious stand out motm performance. A good team performance. If I could give it to the team I would. Going to go with Garner for the cool head in getting us that very very important first goal. That's the ingredient that we have just been missing in out home games.
  8. Finally got the result a lot of our performances have deserved. This was not a flash in the pan performance. The Fulham, Wolves or Luton game could have quite easily have been an early goal from being 3-0 wins. At the end of this games, almost disappointed it was not more than 3. We ARE a significantly better team under Dyche that we where under Lampard or Benitez. We are still a long way off from where a Everton team/squas should be, but we are better that we have been in the recent past.
  9. Finally a home game when we are putting some of the chances away. Performance not vastly different to many of the other games - ball just finding the net. Have to bring home the three points. I would just love a clean sheet now.
  10. I think it would be pretty rough on Dyche to sack him on the fact players are not converting good chances in to goals when we are playing OK football. Seen enough shit the past two or three season to recognise when we are actually playing OK in game and deserve more points that we are seeig - fuck all to do with xG. This past few years we have rightly deserved to come off the pitch with no points, I don't see this as the case. Luton Town was a piss poor result, but its right on the back of two very good results. We have to take a bit of a rolling assessment over 4-5 games and not panic everytime we lose a game or two again. Over past 4-5 games we are doing OK performaces and result wise, and Luton is the only real unexpected disappopintment since transfer window was shut. We are in a period of change, so its not going to be plane sailing especially with a lot of young inconsistent players in the team. I think we are more likely to see us getting the points performances are deserving under Dyche than we are to see a notible improvment by sacking him and bringing somebody else in. We are still in the Cup and only 7 games in to a season, just 4 games past the transfer window. Far to early to be sacking again. If we play like we are playing for the rest of the season we are not going to get relegated - results will even themselves out.
  11. I think he will also be in trouble. However, with a purely analytical head on (not easy when football is very emmotion driven). - considering what we have seen before we are not actually playing that badly, its the odd defensive lapse and inches away from scoring that is frustrating. Given where we are it somehow fees it now only an additional small adjustment from picking up more points and getting what we now deserve from game. We have been miles away from this in the past. Change now and its start again to a degree. - We are actually only five games in since the transfer window has shut (which is the real start of the season to me) - and since this time it actually 2W, 1D 2L (all being premier league opposition), not shit the bed results in my opinion, - Given the players we have (particauly our strikers) is this not going to suit a Dyche style of management - is now really a time to try something different, - can we as a club currently afford to pay massive compensation to Dyche? - Who else is realistically going to come to the club given the current situation with regard to new ownership, is now a time to experiment with untested managers? Comparing how we are now to how it was with Lampard with him starting with a new slate last season, I do think the team/squad is in a much better place set up and performance wise - even if the results are not showing that just yet.
  12. It's been a problem we have had for some time. We are not that great when we dominate possession of the ball. However, there is one slight difference at the moment, we are actually creating a lot of chances and of enough of the quality that should win games. It's frustrating as hell, but there is an improved in the team. Just need that home win to releif the pressure in home games. There is now goals in this team, but its still early days for out new forward line.
  13. Two cracking away results and then this a home. Though I was finally going to sit and enjoy a game!! I should have known better. God this team are frustrating.
  14. Just not making the chances this half.
  15. More goals in this game. Just got to make sure it's us who gets them. We have had lots of chances in the first half, and should make plenty more in the second. Plenty of options off the bench. This game is still there to be won.
  16. For once we look to have a strong bench. If you what to stay on the pitch in the second half you need to both be put the effort in and performing in the first. I don't mind the starting line up, it's a 100min game now and a fair number of subs allowed. Good to have decent players on the bench.
  17. I think confidence is a massive thing - when a team has a bit of confidence, players want the ball, players what to get on the score sheet. A team low on confidence just simply struggle to execute any managers plan. Probably one of Dyche's toughest task it to get players confident, we are seeing some green shoots. Instead to making stupid mistakes you have a extra half yard and get stuck in defensivley, your head is up for farward balls rather than the safe ball sideways or backwards passing. If you want a couple of games at home to build from on the back of a couple of decent away wins - you can't ask for better than Luton or Bournmouth. Starting to looking forward to a game as opposed of seeing it as a potential banana skin, I am sure players will have a similar feel good factor.
  18. I think the past couple of results are maybe a better reflection of how we have been playing this season and generally under Dyche. After the window, the squad is now probably more of a reflection of what he would like to be working with. Hard to count what happened last season as was it was well and truly backs against the wall for a weak squad (with DCL missing) and club in termoil from the moment he arrived. How nice it would be to go through at least one full season with the same manager and allowing him to develop a team over 3 or 4 transfer windows.
  19. and he will be on a decent wedge as one of there highest paid players - Villa have a seriouse wage bill nowerdays.
  20. Something last nights game does highlight is there is actually only a fine line between a team chasing the last European league places and those potentially battling relegation. A few key players in the team and a little bit of confidence make a huge difference. As the away team we looked good value at both Brentford and Villa - and ultimately deserved both the wins. Back this up with a couple of good home wins now, and we then change from that team that the oppositions see as a easy meal to the team they are actually not looking forward to playing. Just losing the sad club in crisis tag would be a big improvment this season.
  21. Never got going last season due to injury set back. I was impressed with how the young lad did in Forests promotion season, and I felt it was good business getting him in at £15M last summer. I have been looking forward to seeing him getting up to speed and not been disappointed now he is getting a good run in the team. I think there is plenty more to come from him and his goal will have given him great confidence.
  22. Impressive result, considering villa are going well and put out a good team tonight.
  23. Its not like we have a massive squad and need to be keeping fringe players happy. Most have not been on international duty, so not got lots of games in their legs, if anything more matches will be be good for the team. There is also another international break in a couple of weeks. I think Villa being in Europe this season means this cup will be low on there list of priorities and would be suprised if they don't put out a second string. Villa decent but are not anywhere near Man City or the like with squad depth, so if we put a strong side out its a very winnable game. We should be going all out to win all three games before the international break.
  24. Tarks - assist, goal, shots blocked! quality at both ends of the pitch. Lots of other good performances on Saturday - We have some decent size lads on the pitch and we should look to bully teams physically - this should be the benchmark. I want teams to be dreading playing Everton - and not see us as easy pickings.
  25. Not sure Levy would be overly interested in helping Everton and Dele out at possibly Spurs expense. However, I really can't see Everton playing Dele enough for the £10m payment to kick in, so i don't see Spurs getting a penny. I would guess it would be in all parties interest to renegotiate the deal. What happens if we run down Dele contact this summer, so he effectively becomes a free agent? Are we then able to sign him as a free agent under a completely new contract and thus be free from paying Spurs anything more at all for Dele?.
