  1. going to be one of those games today.
  2. https://www.evertonfc.com/news/3791977/director-of-football-everyone-at-everton-is-united and Thelwell's chatting away again!!! We have called for others to speak up about 'non football' issues, and not leaving all the awkward questions to the manager at press conferances. Seems people at the club are listening. Perfectely accptable for Dyche to now limit what he says about the 10 point deduction in his pre match press conferance now and focus on the game.
  3. Simon Jordan also made a few good points this morning. 1. Everton are currently going in to a multi team group, 2. we have not been taken over yet, so why restrict ourselves, who knows who else may come in for us and 3. basically put two fingers up to the PL and vote against any proposal they currently want to make.
  4. There is precident for clubs seeking compensation from other clubs charged with financial breaches etc. Its not going to be lots of clubs getting £300m leading to administration like some nobs are banding around the place - but it might be settled as a few tens of millions to a single club, payed over a few seasons. What is more improtant really is not getting relegated this season - as we are now moving in the right direction as a club, so the more the current 10 points deduction is reduce the better, as that simply lessens the risk of relegation.
  5. Out of interest lets, if a team who got relegation is entitled to some compensation who do people think would actually have the best arguement - Burnely in 21/22 (season of the offence in question) or Leicester in 22/23 (season in which the charges against us have been made). If the whole debarcle is to a rectify a historical wrong doing to another club/s, surely a large fine which is then, less admin costs, is distrobuted accordingly to the agreed wronged clubs would be the most appropriate action. Pretty simple. That way an offending club is penalised and any wronged club/s are then compensated somewhat. i.e any team relegated or miss out on Europe get lionshare if not all the fine. Simple way for this rule breach - If a £19.5M over spend, then for first offecne then a £19.5M fine payable over the next three financial years. Second offence double the fine. The bigger the over spend, theoretically the bigger the advantage, and thus bigger the compensation to any clubs who feel they have been a little fucked over by it. This can also be quite easily applied retrospectievly.
  6. and don't the PL also appoint the people who will site on the independant commission? I have read or heard that somewhere as well.
  7. https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-update-compensation-claim-28147847 Interesting article on the potential compensation claims. The independent commission's head, David Phillips KC, claimed that he was "satisfied that the applicant clubs have potential claims for compensation", but that they'd need to wait for the ruling of the appeal first. He added: "Those claims and their validity depend on whether the complaint is upheld. "They depend on factual circumstances concerning the causation of any loss and they depend on other factual issues. If the complaint is upheld, the commission may wish to award compensation to one or more of the applicant clubs. "If the complaint is upheld, the Premier League must provide a copy of the decision to the applicant clubs forthwith. Within 28 days of receipt of a copy of the decision, each applicant club must inform the commission whether it wishes to pursue a claim for . . . compensation."
  8. I agree, given the magnitude of the punishment, I want clarity of the 'crime', clarity on why our clubs arguments are not being upheld, and clarity on how the 10 point punishment has been calculated. This biggest problem is the whole rule book, review process and system of punishment is simply too wishy washy and off the cuff. This past three or four days, been hearing this, that and the other opinions of what is right, wrong, just and injust - problem being nobody fucking knows!!!! Premier League have come up with this FFP rule book, but seem to have put no real effort in about how it will be policed etc. Simply making it up as we go along is a fucking shambles and not acceptable. The call now has to be for an independant regulator over the Premier League. They are simply not fit to police themsleves with out undue bias to certain selection of clubs.
  9. One thing is for sure - thank fuck this punishment didn't come in to effect in May last season or the season before - or we would be arguing this point as a Championship team. We dodged that bullet. Dyche took over this team in a very similar postion at the end of January last season. This year it is the middle of November, we have a much better balanced squad and there are three weaker teams in the PL this season. Lets hope this galvaninses the club from top to bottom.
  10. The biggest problem it is all being made up as we go along and the whole thing is a fucking joke. What happens to our club is basically going to be decided off the pitch by some faceless third parties. We have got unlucky as a club in trying to better ourselves, poor signings, player injuries, player arrests, COVID, forced lose of main sponser due to a war and global swing in inflation just after the committed start of a major stadium build. These all in there own right have a detrimental cost the club. FFP to us is simply third parties putting a boot in when you are on the ground. What is the ture spirit of FFP? Feels like its long lost to me.
  11. Even if this is a thing where we can be sued, then to be honest the only two teams the might have a case is: 1. Burnley 3rd bottom (21/22) and 2. Leicester 3rd bottom (22/23). However, Everton could then only have been punished in one of these seasons. It would not be possible to be relegated from the Premiership two back to back seasons, so a choice would have to be made which season do you retrospectievly look at, as you couldn't simply apply it to both and then also 10 point deduction this seaons on top. I think it all bullshit anyhow and just re hashed stories from last seaosn when other teams thought they would be in a relegation battle so put there hat in the ring last year to get our finances looked at by the PL in the hope it gets them out of the shit, but its all happened to late for them now. Punishment has now been dished out this season - period. Realistically any sueing should be between suing clubs and PL if deemed an untimely and chaotic resolution. i.e they simply don't know what they are doing with these rules they have layed down.
  12. Funny you should say that - I think the original three that basically forced the PL to get the ball rolling on this Burnley, Leeds and Leicester are now by far the three team I most despise with the teams jumping on the bandwagon not far behind them. Those shit stirring fuckers going after a single club (which could basically ruin it) to try and feather their own nests - Their name is shit in my eyes now and I hope the 'smell' of those clubs being 'shithoueses' followes them around to every set of opposition fans the play against. I am convinced they have causeed all of this. We have spent next to fuck all this past two years working with the PL, sorting out our FFP over what has been and still is a unusual period in global history. Even after this enquiry, the final FFP overspend is only £19.5M and even that seem to be down to subjective opinion of interest payments for the construction of a new stadium. Like you said I now want to see us smash those clubs each and every time we play them. I really hope this gives the team the ammunition to take the full 12 point of Burnley and Forest when we play them this season. I am sure our fans will be doing everything they can in these game to let these teams know what we think of them.
  13. There seems to be a significant bacllash againt the magnitude of the punishment that Everton have been handed out, from what I have listen to and read the shock is pretty much universal accross the footballing media and beyond. I don't think i have heard any anybody say its fair and reasonable. You would hope that this is sinking in with those who may be reviewing any appeal. It not just people with Everton tinted glasses that are gobsmacked by this.
  14. This whole debacle just beggers belief- £19.5m more than allowed over a certain 3 year cycle that coincided when the whole world entered a period of unprecedented disruption and turmoil. Add to that the clubs most expensive ever signing get arrested and can neither play or be sold. The UK government makes sanctions against any business from a whole country and basically pulls the rug from the lions share of our sponsorship. the premier league change some of the rules on what sort of interest paymnets can be offset for capital investment just as we are committed to the biggest capital investment any club can make. every single pundit etc is saying the same thing. Everton are being fucked over by the Premier League.
  15. Didn't hear from him for ages - and now you can't shut him up!!! left alone, but supported by the board, I think Thewell and Dyche will develop in to a good partnership together.
  16. I totally agree, patience is the key. We have been as low as you could go without getting relgated for two seasons in the row. We are building from a very low base, with lots of issue still going on at the club, we need proper stability first in place and like you said that simply step 1. As well as the football side of things Step 1 is now going to include the new owners becoming embedded in to the club and developing the processes they want to implement. It is also going to involve moving in to a new ground. There are massive once in generation (or even once in a lifetime) changes going to be happening this next couple of years. I would much rather see a steady improvment of all things at the club over the next 4-5 seasons to build a strong but sustainable football club. It's is steady hands and focused minded that are needed at the moment. I feel we have that with Dyche and Thelwell.
  17. I think it will come - as confidence and familiarity with each others game developed so will understanding and slickness - don't forget we are only 10 or so games in from the end of the transfer window. This team is fairly new really. To me what we are missing is maybe that composure and quality on the ball when we are in possession. Like others have said, rather than hoofing the ball up the pitch when we win the ball in our defensive third, we begin to play out under a little bit more composure and control. Dyche is going about it the rigth way - get the defensive part solid and then slowly add the bells and whistles once the basics and general shape become second nature. To me this is solid progression built on a proper foundation and I am sure our ability in posession will grow in the second part of the season and beyond. We are starting to look like a much more balanced squad. I would like to see Dyche and Thelwell worth together to bring more quality young back up over the next three or four windows. Generally, you have to give 17-18s year olds a good 2-3 years to mature in to players. I think Dyche is somebody who can work very well with a DoF and not be demanding player he wants for instant betterment. I think he is a man and manager who is not all personnal ego, and will work towards a longer term club stratergy. This is vital given where we are as a club and where we want to be that we have to grow organically this time around.
  18. yes, I was think this very much, up until the past couple of weeks Newcastle have had the rub of the green for best part of 18 months and seem to be riding a crest of the wave on all that good fortune across all aspect of that club. Everton seem to have had the polar opposite.
  19. off days againt certain player are going to happen for a young developing player in his first proper season at Premiership level. what will be interesting is to see is how he does against Eze that next time they meet.
  20. since Mykolenkos arrival this is the time he has played in anything like a stable side. A lot of players from overseas struggle when the first come to the Premiership, and that's even without the fact you home country has been invaded, and many of your friends and family are now in a war. I think he has been allowed to get up to the pace and strength of the Premiership defensivkey ŵithout having to worry to much about being and offensive threat. I have always thought he had good technique to hit the ball and has the qualities to be better than his offensive showing to date. I am hoping that he has now settled as no.1 left back and can now grow further in this position. so please for the lad give how tough things must have really been since he's been here.
  21. we have gone from a team who used to shit the bed and lose games like this time and time again, and now become to a team who don't really like to lose. Far from being the best performance, but scored 3 away goals and still won after being pegged back twice. a very satisfying result, and like somebody else said it feels like a 2 or 3 point correction to the 9 home points we didn't really deserve to lose. on the games played his season I think we can solidly say we are a very solid mid table team at the moment.
  22. the kind of game that has draw written all over it. However, would be over the moon to nick all 3 points with a lucky win. That's doable given the form we are in.
  23. I am totally with you. I am also happy watching other teams have the lion share of the ball and be able to do fuck all with it against us and then every now and then press and battle them off the ball and counter attack at pace and with numbers - this gets the crowd off it's feet and the ground buzzing far more than tippy tapping around the pitch getting nowhere quick - this can lead to frustration. Possesion based football if over rated unless you really are top teams doing it with great players at you disposal and winning week in and week out. I would rather be the good counter attacking team than be the team that other clubs counter attack against. It's fucking sole destroying having most of the possession to see the other team get the goals or have all the best changes.
  24. These other Americans and Indian investors reportedly interested in Everton are a couple of months to late. If there was much substance to their interest surely they would have poke their heads up a lot earlier than now. To me it looks like 777 Partnership is on the home straight. I think as soon as the FFP punishment becomes known, then I think contracts will be signed and new owners will be on board within weeks if not days.
