  1. Exactly this. The amount of points we have been deducted is quite astounding for the serverity of what Everton have actually done. If we do end up getting relegated it will be these 8 points deducted that take of us down. I have said it before this points deduction debarcle that we have endured all season have been like a tractor beam that has constantly pulled the team in to the relegation battle. We have a bit of breathing space of a 4 point gap on Sunday - boom we are back to being one defeat way from falling in to a relegation zone. Being in a relegation fight brings its own anxiaty and stress to footballing squad, and we have been artificially pulled into it most of the season. I really think the stress of it all on the playing and management over pretty much the whole 23/24 season has quite easily cost us 5-6 more points (maybe more).
  2. The odds I have been following had us at 5/1 before this afternoons announcment - and now we are 4/1. That would suggest the 2 point deduction was on the harsh side.
  3. I would have though we should have got more than 2 points knocked off due to 'double jeaperdy' or maybe 1 also knocked off for the clubs intent to reduce spending on player trading and wages along with the Ukraine war effect. Para 100.5 suggest Everton would have taken a 1 point deduction. There was plenty of ways the Commison could have got the sanction to 1 point. We would have accepted this. I am pretty disappointed with 2 as I saw that at the maximum we would probabley get.
  4. https://resources.premierleague.com/premierleague/document/2024/04/08/eef5f482-4d3a-473a-9e38-26f995059377/Premier-League-v-Everton-Decision-FY23.pdf I have read it as - 3 points deduction for a breach plus 2 point deduction for the magnitute of the breach, deemed 'modest' rather than signficant (£16.6m). So before mitigation factors we have been given 5 point deduction. (Paragraph 180 then 187) less 2 points becasue of the fact we have already been penilised in over part of this 3 year accounting period (para 206) and less 1 point for an early plea to PSR breach (Para 260) So final deduction of 2 points. We got no consideration for the fact the USM sponsership go pulled due to UK sanctions of Russians or any other financial hit like anything argued towards the stadium. We got no consideration for 'exceptional co-operation' - our co-operation level was the 'level expected'. We also go no consideration from a sustainable 'New Recruitment Stratergy' that has been implemented at the club.
  5. I agree totally. It has been exhausting the turmoil both on and off the pitch has been awful and never ending. Feel like punch bag of a fan base. I fans have had if far the worst. We all know what a shambles the club has been run internally - (the details of which we have endlessly debated), but as we slowly start to get out own house in order with removal of the board and change in owner. The PL come along and well and truly put the boot in to the Everton fan base. We have suffered our own poor ownership and management and are now the club suffering the most from the PL's own poor management and misgivings. Like you said we deserve a fucking break from it all.
  6. when you look back to forests 4 points, I think we have already been harshly treated with the 6 we have already had taken off us. It will be a real kick in the teeth to loose more points this season. We should be sitting in a relatively relaxed position of 35 points with 7 games to go. Instead we are on a very uncomfortable 29 points, sweating on us having the 4 points earn taken this past week off us. 1) The commision have a straight forward get out clause to give use zero points this time around - 6 points penalty (less 4 becasue we have been penilised for 2/3) plus 2 point off for being helpful (as Forest go). So 0 points deduction. Given we got a harsh 6 points last time, then a generouse 0 this time around would be fairer balance overall. A outside possibility, but I don't see this happening 2) or 6 points (less to 2 points for being helpful), so 4 the same as Forest. Then factor in the 2/3 of the period already having been punished, so 1/3 being - 1.22 points - do they round to 1 point or take the 0.22 as a point as well - A case for 1 or possibly 2. 3) The give us exactely the same as Forst - substancial beach but we worked with the PL and they take no notice of the fact we have already been punished for two of the three years - 4 points - this would be very harsh. 4)All of our disclaimers on why the account are over this period (lost sponsorship due to Ukraine, Stadium costs etc) are upheld by the commission and we are found to be exhonorated of the charge in this accounting period. 0 points. My gut feeling is we will get 1 point deduction based on arguement 2) and would only get 0 points if 4) us upheld.
  7. because some of us are dyslexic and are just not great at reading and writing, particularly spelling. had people take the piss since i was a school.kid, trying to make me feel stupid if I make a mistake, from both teachers and other kids. Must be great to be so clever. answer you question?
  8. I might have a cheeky £20 on Palace - at 25/1. Palace have only taken a total of 11 points from the 14 teams above them (if you also include us - with the 6 point we have lost) so far this season.) 19 points has come from the bottom 5 teams, we 12 of their points coming off the bottom two teams. All Palace's remaining games are against teams above them (many who are chasing a european spot), new manager does not really seemed to have changed much results wise, fourth worst goal difference, one of the players getting pelters today for swapping his shirt with Harland at half time!!! In 2 or 3 games time they might find themselves right in the mix. I fancy Brentford to finish higher than Palace. So see Palaces odd tumbling next weekend if Liverpool beat them at Anfeild next week and the Bees win their home game against the Blades - I just think 25/1 is generous this evening for a team in pretty poor form. If Luton do rally for the run in (massive win for them today after being a goal down), it wouldn't surprise me to see Palace drawn into the final day survival battle if it comes to it.
  9. Brentford are definitely in the relegation battle now, and if you look at Crystal Palaces games, all the teams they have left to play are all above them. Palaces easiest games looks to be West Ham and Newcastle at home. looking at the games left I would hope we finish above Palace.
  10. thank fuck we have put a end to that non-winning streak. was becoming a real monkey on our backs. same with DCL not scoring, but that monkeys also been banished this week, with him now two goals in two game.
  11. build of it and bring the result home now
  12. or could simply be both have a knock that keeps them out of the game. Dyche doesn't have the luxury of simply just dropping players out of the squad completely
  13. I really hope neither us or Forest go down now (even though I don't like Forest after them being one of the clubs originally whining about us). If either of these points deductions result as the reason why a team get the financial hit of what relegation brings, then it would truly be an unjust travisty for that team. Fair enough if a point deduction results in the lost of a few league positions as not much more than the 'cost' than a fine (although the only teams that benefit are the two or three that leapfrog you), but to condem a team to relegation truly is a case of a punishment not suiting the crime. Lets hope its 'football' in the end that determines who is relegated or not this season. What a stressful season for all associated with Everton.
  14. https://www.forbes.com/sites/danieleproch/2024/03/22/inside-andrs-blazquez-financial-transformation-at-genoa-cfc/ not sure if this has been posted before. It is an encouraging read, I would guess it is the blueprint for our planned future under 777 ownership.
  15. It would be nice to get a win over the Shite though. The will come to our place on a Wednesday evening as their 7th game in 21 days (and on the back of away games to Atlanta and then Fulham). This would be as good as time as any to play them.
  16. I think the two biggest games on the list are Forest and Luton, as one of these could turn out to be 6 pointers come the end of the season. (Given the league table at the moment Luton is the most likely team to be fighting to get away from 3rd relegation spot). These are must not lose games. Luton's last two games after they play us are winnalbe. We can't leave it this year until the last day of the season - as we will get fuck all away to Arsenal.
  17. Like a lot of our players - Gomes could have a great game, but equally he could end up having a stinker of a game. He's not your mister consistent. I agree that he is likley to have a better impact towards the end of a game when other legs are maybe getting a bit heavy and the game has slowed a little. I aslo think that there can be a benfit for a player like Gomes actually watching the first 50-60mins of a game and then stepping in to it.
  18. This is all getting so frustrating. Given the limbo we are in then, a new owners should give the same 'bounce' effect as a new manager coming in to the club. We are in danger of even missing out on this short term 'positive' of a new enthusiastic owner coming in to the club. We are counting every point at the moment - so any sort of 'boost' would be very much welcome. This short term 'bounce' could easliy be worth 6 points or more - we have not been massively outplayed in games, and results have been down to fairly tight margins, I feel the optomisum of a new ownership permeating around the club could have been massivley beneficial in the bad run of results we are in. If the PL are taking their time over this because there focus has been on FFP hearings, then we really have had the shit end of the stick with double whammy of a points deductions (or two!), and currently missing out on a potential new optomisum bounce. I cant wait for this season to be finished and it fuck all to do with the football or board at the club this time around. All pretty much down to the PL and the fact its as poorly run as Everton football club has been run in the past. As fans we have suffered our own internal shortcoming, but we also seem to be the fans suffering the most from PL shortcoming as well.
  19. I now have my fingers crossed that Newcastle's disallowed goal will turn out to be a turning point in our recent fortunes when that goal went in, Forest where breathing down our necks to go above us in the table tonight.
  20. Good point tonight to help the team going in to the Burnley game on a positive note. Will only truly be a good point if another three are added to it in our next game.
  21. got to try and now make the most of the life line of that goal being disallowed.
  22. you have to take these games as a free hit to try and do something different. Newcastle away is not and easy game and on paper might not really expect a result. However, they have a lot of players out, so it is a chance to have a real good go at them and Newcastle are not City or Arsenal. Are regard to Bournemouth game, I am never quite sure if and enforced break between games is a particulary good thing. Extra few days - great, but extra two weeks just throws routine. We are becoming desperate for 3 points to ease nerves. Just fucking go fot it, in a game like this,
  23. Being a Everton F.C scrutinising 'panel member' could potentially be offered as a University course.
  24. The more I read (and see) about the stadium, I can't help think how did the club seem to get so much so right with this project (maybe bar the financing), yet fucked pretty much every other aspect of the club up so badly. You wouldn't think its the same club. The location is brillient - right on the edge of the iconic Mersy and in the heart of the docks on which the city was built and is famous for. So much effort and consideration has been made with the regard to getting the best possible atmosphere out of it when its full of Evertonians. Once the bums are on seats and the whistle goes for kick off - how the place 'feels' for those the 90mins (or 100mins these days) is probabley the one if not the most important things for both the fan attending and the player wearing the blue shirt. We have heard so much negative comments from fans moving in to new shiny yet soulless stadiums. If we are potentially playing in it for argubley a 100years, I am so glad so much attention has been paid to this aspect of the stadium. Proof will be in the pudding though . It also sounds like so much thought has gone in to the revenue it can generate both on match days and beyond. Litttle things like making a the 'tunnel' resturant area with high game to game availablity so the buzz in the area doesn't become stale just with to much corporate hospitality is a nice touch. Some seasons ticket seats at £50,000 a pair. If some people got the money and happy to spend it then get them sat down. I think the design if clever, with the lower rectanguar brick clad area extending out further than the traditional stadium oval bowl shape. Doing this they have created so much more practical and usable space and importantly revenue producing space, which over the year and decades will hold us in good stead. It might not be the 'sexiest' looking design as ultra modern stadiums go, but the stadium has it's own unique look and feel about it - It also look like is belongs in this location. I do like the fact it has very destincive sides and vistas to it and with a well thought out lighting system to it (I assume will be a gives), its going to look amazing for night games. The stadium is not overly flashy, but is innoative and practical, it would not be suprise to see much of it copied on other future new grounds.
  25. yeah, I have also worked for 25 years in the heavy civils industry, although more on the design side. Very tight margins in this type of construction and actually hard to turn a profit and generally a high risk of losing money. Important that you sort a good contract our at the beginning. Laing will have sorted a decent contract out give the cost of living crisis kicking in and Everton's financial model of not actually having all the funds in place when Contract was drawn up.
