  1. It just shows you how out of touch these team owners really are with the British and European game. Even fans of the clubs that are pushing for a closed shop money making competition are disgusted by it all. Bravo Chelsea fans.
  2. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56823501 Fooking falling apart after less than 48hr. . That's shame for you!!!!
  3. I think from the tone of the Everton statement - there will be a strong collective response from the PL clubs following the meeting of the remaining 14.They know they have pretty much everybody's support behind them. Together, they have enough votes to carry PL notions through, they do not need any of the top six teams at the table to make changes the 14 see fit. When it comes to the PL (in which the top 6 will still want to remain) the remaining 14 are far more powerful than the 6. The 14 have just become a lot more galvanised against them. Spanish and Italians Leagues are not going to take this lying down either - the teams involvement in a super league from one of the country will flinch and bottle it, and it all then crumbles. Governments, never mind the FA or PL (and there foreign equivalents) will get involved in what is now looking like national outcry against what is happening to their national game. My hope is now that all this massively backfires on these greedy 'owners' of the 12 and reforms will be brought in. Everybody seems united in standing up against them!!
  4. https://www.evertonfc.com/news/2111866/statement-from-the-board?fbclid=IwAR3WFiww4vvUcytAn8ZkKIMK5Ugj6_NQYwprv0iiKrRfJl8cuxxMwI4w2LQ A strong response from Everton - makes you feel proud. They are not mincing their words about the clubs thoughts on the self proclaimed six.
  5. Give the magnitude of backlash so far, from fans up to governments, I can't now see this taking off. But even if it does go away at the very least I would like to see these 12 clubs punished in some way. Even if they can't be docked points or be banned, maybe dump that new CL set up where teams can qualify based on so coefficient based on past performances, that pretty much is just an advantage for these 12 team already - they just want even more, greedy bastards!!!
  6. problem is most of these teams have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of tourist fans all over the world, who are interested in headline game after headline game and will just lap it up. These owners don't care if the revenue comes from a bloke in Manchester or a fella in Beijing.
  7. This is so grim, even the fans, the players, and the managers of this 'dirty dozen' clubs are against it, and happy to voice their contempt - a concept that has no legitimate support from anybody in football. Purely driven by a handful of greedy club owners and their accountants, nothing to do with football and everything to do with a hand full of extremely rich people getting richer from 'hobby' football club ownership - how much personal wealth do these people want? These owners are selling the soles of these clubs. Hopefully, the backlash will put off the other three 'chosen' clubs from signing up to this. I also would like to think the other five clubs they plan to annually invite all show solidarity and tell the super league to stick those token places where the sun don't shine. I wouldn't want to see Everton or any other club to legitimising this competition. How interesting could a 'closed' league of 12 teams really be long term? especially for your true fans, born of generations of tradition. It will be Las Vegas type football, for football tourists to enjoy; either beamed direct to your TV in Asia or to some other far flung corner of the planet, or getting yourself to a bucket list game.
  8. If the so breakaway six's stocks are going up you can bet our 'stock' has just gone down. We are about to embark on raising significant funds for a new stadium, and this potential massive financial bombshell drops!!! for sure it will be harder this week than it was last week to sell the Everton dream to investors. Whatever happens, some big waves have been caused in the pond of football finances.
  9. All the clubs involved should be punished by the PL (or Seria A and La Liga) and UEFA and show them a few individual clubs can't bully European football. These 12 or so teams are not going to break away from Prem or UEFA and only just play each other for evermore. These clubs are basically angling for the CL format to be changed so that it mean that if these selected teams miss the usual qualification route, they get in though a back door every season. They can commit to big wages etc safe in the knowledge they would get the CL money season after season. You can't have one rule for 'rich' teams and then different rules for another team - it's fooking cheating. If a club is at risk of a ban from European football for a period of time if they breach of FFP rules, what penalty should clubs be given for colluding behind their individual domestic leagues and UEFA's back's purely for what is financial protectionism to the detriment to their leagues and all the other clubs within as well as football in general? These greedy club owners need to be hit where it hurts the most, by those who have the power to do so. Some clubs should be embarrassed by this.
  10. Greedy greedy selfish bastards!!! I think all these signed up clubs should all be docked PL points and the likes of Leicester City, West Ham and Everton and another club represent Premier League in next seasons CL. Period. And how the fuck have Spurs managed to get themselves in to this Elite group of English football clubs - when where they last 'Champions' of England? half a dozen decent seasons in and around the top 4 and they become part of an Elite group of clubs for ever more!! I would love to know the criteria!! In the last 25years Spurs have won a single League cup!!! Why not Leicester City if on recent achievements? and why not Everton if on longer term history or tradition? Money driven bullshit the lot of it. If they leave and then wanted to come back in future - should be in the lower divisions and have to earn your way back up - imagine the six clubs trying to scrap over promotions spots and trying to get the worlds best player to sign for them !! I would love it. Like most said will not happed and these six are flexing their financial muscle - PL should just flex their back at them.
  11. Up to now Brands has been fairly hamstrung a bit in having to of load players on expensive wages that nobody wants to take of our hands. I think this job has to be given an absolute 5years minimum, at least 2 or 3 to lay the foundations and then two or three more to begin to develop it. Especially if one of your remits is to bring in quality youth and develop them. Its definitely a slow burn of a job. He is not going to be perfect in the transfer market - nobody is. Some player will shine in one place and not in another, Kean for example. For every Richarlison, Kean and Godfrey we are going to get an Iwobi - but this model is good, bring in quality young players who in the main should increase in value. Not every one is going to to a hit - its a bit of a numbers game, if on average you turn a profit whilst improving the squad quality its what we want to be seeing. You need to see how this turns out over 5-6 seasons. To me there is also two tiers of youngster - high value ones in there early 20's that are straight in to the first team squad. Then you have the under 20's, cheaper but little more risky as have little or no senior football behind them - but have the profiles to develop in to quality players- we hope. These might take even longer to bear fruit, as the chances of getting major 'hits' might only be one cutting the mustard every two or three seasons, especially as our first team squad improves in quality. With regards to Lingard and King - if looking for a player as back up to DCL and somebody who could nick you a goal here an there, everybody takes King all day long. King was probably most suitable option out there and the deal was done. He's not come as a panic long term liability. Tosun was shipped out instead in the hope somebody might part with a couple of quid and take him off our hand. All in all was the right strategy. Unlucky how its turning out with both King and Tosun. Lingard has scored 8 goals in 9 games- who saw that coming!!! he has never been anywhere near to those figures before. So truly a crystal ball would have been needed for that. West ham get the good luck (best form of his life) and we get the bad luck (injuries and more injuries).
  12. Interesting looking at the list of player at the top of our man of the match list. 5 out of the top 6 of our 'best' performers this year where out againt Brighton. Going to go for Godfrey in this game.
  13. I am with you on this Haf. Beyond our first 12-13 players we do lack quality in the squad. Injuries to key player have contributed massively this season. Allan, Doucoure and James playing together at the begining of the season looked as if a magic wand had been waved over the team - i was so excited thinking how well they would do second half of the season once they had played and trained together for a few months. We have not seen the three of them play together since being top of the league. Its also been pretty rear to see two of them on the pitch together. I am not suprised how we played last night with a midfeild made up of defenders and Davies.
  14. Given we put a make shift side out, with three defenders in midfeild normally I would have happily taken going away and nicking a scrappy point. However, the recent dropped points made it a must win. Arse!!
  15. And that pretty much sums up Iwobi. Just not quite good enough.
  16. We deserve fook all tonighf, but got to be brave for the last 10mins and try and steal it. Draw not much better than a defeat.
  17. On a positive - this isn't the first time this season we have had to go on the pitch a put square pegs in round holes due to injuries and ended up come back with the points. Seem to get better performances when we have our backs to the wall. I am pig sick King is also be injured with DCL missing - can you fucking believe it!!! this was just the type of game he was brought here to cover in and bag a winning goal.
  18. fuck - cursed by injuries - How we going to line up then with four centre backs playing? Olsen Holgate Keane Mina Godfrey Coleman Davies Digne Rodriquez Siggy Richarlison
  19. we have a pretty tough run of games after tonight our final eight games include - Villa twice, West Ham, Spurs, Arsenal and Man City. A good run similar to that we had on the run up to Xmas is going to be needed.
  20. I think you have to say this season we have been a fair bit unlucky with injuries. There have been weeks when we didn't put out a full bench, had two or three keepers on it or its made up of mainly kids. A lot of the time the first 11 payers have pretty much picked themselves. It has definitely been a season where it's been difficult in getting continuity in the personnel out on the pitch. this game now is must win for any chance of European football (I actually think we have probably already fucked it up by losing 5 points to Burnley and Crystal Palace - but need some hope!!) - a loss and think we need to be more worried about teams behind us rather than catching those in front of us.
  21. Looks like the hammers made the best move in the January transfer window. Jess Lingard is firing them in to Europe ahead of us at the moment, while King has turned out a fairly anonamouse signing.
  22. I think he is mainly a winger - who knows how to defend, so would be a very handy addition to our right hand side of the pitch. If he is regularly on the Real Madrid team sheet - he is going to be be no mug!!!! Get him signed. I am fairly confident we will be looking for a couple of players for our right hand side of the pitch.
  23. It was a good performance today. One issue I have with Gomes is that he does need to be chipping in with the occasional goal - as a central midfielder (and not a holding/defensive one) 2 or 3 a season in the league wouldn't go a miss. He has 1 goal in 68 league appearances. if he was more of a goal threat from around the edge of the area it would just give that opposition something else to think about when we are on the offensive.
  24. In all honesty we limited city to half chances all game, even the goal was slightly fortunate. They where much less dominant than when we played the league game. Second goal is much of a muchness when you are trying to get a equaliser. They might well get the quadruple - there squad is so so dominate
