  1. He's top of the pile in votes in TT man of the match poll, so catching the eye in lots of our games.
  2. Going for Gylfi. Some sloppy passing and lack of quality generally in the attacking part of the pitch before he came on. He came on cold and placed the ball on to Richy's head. 3 points. Defence all did their jobs well.
  3. I'll fooking take that!! Little bit of luck at the end. I will sing 1-0 to the Everton for the rest of the season, if thats what it takes. I can wait until next season for 'flowing' football. 3 wins on the bounce, currently top 4 with the game in hand played, not playing our best either and a few players to come back in. A case of chalking off now to the end off the season and we are where we want to be. Cheslea, Liverpool or both are about to drop some points tonight.
  4. I cringe that he used to be in our dugout
  5. Top 4 spot begging to be taken. Need to tidy up the sloppy touches and turn the screw in this second half and we win this game. COYB
  6. Think it was a tad behind him as well.. Expected him to score it though.
  7. Lot of sloppy touches. Just need to sort them out second half.
  8. You could be right, I might have been 'swayed' in this direction by graphic shown on BBC (in fact was!!). You never know what Ancelotti might have them lining up, which is something I am loving about him - he is really experimenting with the players this season, but still we are getting some decent results.
  9. I thought he looked lively when he came on for a few minutes when he cam on against Southampton. I think he will do OK and game will suit him - I am sure Ancelotti will have told him to get at West Brom
  10. Surprise to Bernard starting ahead of Gylfi, but other than that team pretty much picked itself given injuries - Think its right to start Allan on the bench after only playing a few days ago and being out so long. Iwobi and Bernard are coming in to a confident team, so should be chomping at the bit to take their chances - so shouldn't be a problem. It will be interested in seeing how Bernard does with a start in the middle of the pitch, Gyfi is always available on the bench. It would be nice to be in a position with 30min left where we can give some others a run out, not really had a chance to see king yet - Difficult to take anything much from the few minutes we have seem of him thus far in a blue shirt. COYB -
  11. Fair enough to give Silva some credit for Richarlison and Doucoure but to be honest if you have worked with this pair at a different club - then it not overly impressive picking up on the qualities each of these player has and suggesting them to your new club that you would like to work with them again highlighting what they can offer. We bought arguably Watford's two best players. Ancelotti has done it with players he likes and though we needed, almost every manager does. Silva was a Premier league manager - so this is almost minimum I would expect from any manager of this level if I am being honesty. I remember having my head in my hand when we brought SIlva to the club - He was never going to be the man to take us to the next level, that appointment was nothing more than a punt - that well and truly didn't work. To me it was made even worst by the fact his appointment followed what was also a punt on Koeman. The club put a LOT of money in some inexperienced and somewhat experimental hands - Twice!! and lost a good chuck of it!! I think the club were looking for the next Poch!! Anyway, club have made up for it now - with bringing in the near perfect manager for what we need.
  12. Need to pick up 3 points at West Brom first and foremost, do that and then any points picked up at Chelsea should be considered a bonus. Chelsea are a good team, with some quality players. We will go in to this game as considerable underdogs. On paper I think this is the toughest fixture left in the Prem calander, based on the fact Man City will have won the league by the time we play them.
  13. Pickford Coleman Keane Godfery Digne Doucoure Davies Iwobi James. Richarlison DCL We miss Coleman going forward in my opinion. Last night I think he would just make that difference in the final 1/3 over Holgate. Iwobi looked bright last night, and I think he works well with James. rest Allan, Gylfi and Gomes. Hopefully, a couple of goals up before the hour, so shut the game out and give DCL and Richy a rest as well.
  14. I thought everybody worked hard out there today and put in a decent shift. It was a bit of a scrappy game, and not much flow or quality to it, but thought we had decent control of it other that for around 15min in the first half after we had goal disallowed and they got a bit of hope it might have been their lucky day. I was nervouse they would nick an somewhat undeserved equaliser, towards the end and with no time for us to respond. Fortunately that never happened. No real standout performances and no real stinkers either. Gone for Richarlison for a well taken goal and tireless work rate.
  15. You have to get lucky to find an 'easy' Premier league game, most 3 points are hard to come by. I agree, points are all that matters now and good to start putting the 'home' hoodoo to bed. Missed Davies today, but good to see Allan get 90mins under his belt, he is only going to improve on the run in. Richarlison form continues. That will do me. Not going to try over analyze it.
  16. Doucoure seems to get stronger as games go on!
  17. The offside goal definately lifted Southamptons spirit and given them hope. Need that second goal to take the wind out of their sails and steady ourselves.
  18. Given Holgate has played a lot as right back (ahead of Coleman) this season - I would be fairly confident that Everton will be offering Arron's a strong chance of making the Everton RB position his own right from off (like all positions you have to earn your starting position in on the training ground). Much like Digne did at LB. Coleman becomes the 'cover' in this position as hi hits 33 in October. Holgate and Godfrey are only makeshift RB's and as the squad develops summer on summer, I would only expect them to cover that position in an emergency. I think Everton and Aaron's would be a good fit for each other. Often clubs like Norwich (relegated and hoping to bounce straight back up), have a gentleman's agreement with players- Stay and help us get back up and we will let you go for a reasonable (rather than prohibitive) fee next summer. Norwich will probably not want him to go, but may already be resigned to the fact he will be moving on. Norwich's problem is they may have two or three very good player who might now be due a move. I would prefer Aaron's over Brighton's Lamptey (who might demand a similar fee), simply because he is bigger and a stronger looking lad.
  19. snap . But I would put Rodrigues in the middle with a bit of a free reign and DCL and Richarlison as a forward pair left and right, with a deeper midfield 3, both Coleman and Digne can then offer width. I also think Southampton have ran themselves in to the ground a bit since we last played them, it difficult to play high tempo football week in and week out (unless you have some of the very strongest players in the league in your team), and not suffer from it at the back end of the season. I believe Ancelotti has been shrewd enough to get this Everton squad in to this position without wearing the players out. I am optomistic that we will have a decent run in. The next 6 game are going to be massive.
  20. we have got to start to improving our home record sometime! I think this has to be, and will be, the next game that we really roll our sleeves up. If we don't, then we are simply not going to reap the benefits of some of our other fantastic results we have had this season. After the Derby win, this has been the first time that I have truly though that CL might actually be a realistic target. The squad is currently in good shape and the extra bit of good news this week means that the vibe around the place is as good as it has ever been in the Premiership - and we have Ancelotti at the helm. Given what we fans know about the 'state' of the club at this moment, I think the bookies are giving us decent odds at the moment - are West Ham really twice as likely as we are to finish top 4? COYB
  21. https://sportslens.com/everton-fans-react-to-lucas-vazquez-transfer-link/336258/ https://tbrfootball.com/report-leeds-and-everton-ready-to-table-offers-for-soon-to-be-free-agent-at-real-madrid/ Free transfer - good going forward and can defend just as well. Would definitely improve our squad if we had European football next season. Although no spring chicken, currently in his prime and three years younger than Coleman. around £80K a week is not unreasonable for player who turns out for Real Madrid, and comes with no transfer fee.
  22. There are going to be no excuses to come away second best to Southampton - Southampton will have had less rest since there last game on Tuesday - so tiredness will not be a factor in our performance - there should be no complacency - we have had our fingers burnt to many times with poor displays at home - team form - we are of the back of our best result of the season (and generally a good season), Southampton are in very poor form - Injuries - we have every position adequately covered with first choice players and also have one of the strongest benches we have had all season - All our players are on pretty good form as individuals, - Keane, Davies, DCL are currently in the best form ever This HAS to be the game to shake this poor home form monkey off our back. My belief is that Ancelotti has also been relatively careful managing the fatigue of the players so far this season - I think our players in general will have a fair bit left in the tank for the run in to the end of the season. We have been rotating players pretty well (some forced by injury) and we haven't spent the season with the players running around like headless chickens - pressing - pressing - pressing. I think Southampton are already paying the price for this since Xmas. Ancelotti is shrewd enough to know we are now in the business end of the season. My team for the weekend: Pickford Coleman Keane Godfrey Digne Doucoure Allan Davies James DCL Richarlison
  23. fuck me- this week just keeps getting better - Think I am gonna buy me a lottery ticket.
