  1. how the fuck does saha get the start ahead of yak?
  2. You're quite dense, that bullshit argument is exactly what my post tried to unravel. The first mistake your argument makes is that because something worked in the past, it will do the same now and in the future. That is simply not the case. Let's say we play rock, paper, scissors. I play rock the first time and you play scissors, I win. The second game I continue playing rock and you again play scissors, I win. The third time I play rock yet again, but this time you play rock, we draw. I play rock a 4th time, but now you play scissors again, to see if my change in tactics changed yours. Now that you've seen I am not changing my tactics based on yours, you play paper in our 5th game and I play rock, you win. This is essentially what has happened to Moyes, he found a tactic that worked, he kept playing it to some success. Other managers figured this out and changed their tactics against us, when Moyes did not change the problem began. That is the problem with Moyes, he will not change. He is stuck in his ways and shows no signs of adaptability or learning. We've seen no tactical progression in at least 3 years and very little over 9. He's been found out and other managers take advantage of that. Now about the fine run of form we had from Jan-May of last year. It was wonderful. Was it related to Moyes' tactics? Debatable. He had his best players fresh from injury when most teams were experiencing a mid-season drag. The players put in the performances that they're not putting in now. They must be faulted for having poor form (save for Distin, Baines, Pienaar, Coleman and Fellaini). But, as the manager it is Moyes' job to find ways to make his best players play their best. He's not done that. Worse, he's blown the confidence of Yak and Becks while consistently playing a striker whose not scored in the league since FEB 2009!!! Inexcusable. Finally, about the past successes of David Moyes at Everton. He has done a fine job as manager, until this past year. But, we need to part ways before things go terribly sour. He's stagnated and clearly needs a change of scenery, we could use the same. Moyes has been a fantastic help to correcting our path as a club, but all things come to an end. Past success cannot guarantee future success. Look at Liverpool. They had a manager who had won them a CL trophy, a couple FA cups and strong finishes in the league. But, he goes one year, makes poor signings, team selections and match strategies; they finish 7th instead of 2nd and Rafa gets the sack one year after being 5 points from league champions. Moyes has done the exact same here. He fucked up transfers this summer, and is 20 matches into a season that will surely not see us finish higher than 10th (being quite optimistic). He needs to go before things get too bad and we find ourselves staring at relegation and playing Palace, Reading and Middlesbrough.
  3. As someone who is calling for DM to change or step aside, I've noticed that the counter argument consists of 4 points. -Moyes brought us out of an annual relegation battle to Euro contenders. -Moyes is the best we can get. -Moyes' tactics worked last year with the same squad. -Players are to fault, not Moyes. Of those, the only one that holds any water in that Moyes might be the best manager we can afford. But it sure as hell is not because of his match-day and training week abilities. The only reason Moyes is good for Everton is because he puts up with the outstanding lack of transfer funds and somehow finds gems for dirt cheap. That's it. But, honestly, for 60k/week I'm sure quite a few managers are willing to deal with that, they just may not be as good at it. Players are surely to be blamed, but it is Moyes who continues to choose out of form players because he has some demented favoritism. The strikers need to step up, but they can hardly do that if DM won't give them a decent run. Saha has proved that no matter how good one looks in training, it is match day for that counts. The remaining two are the easiest. Moyes has brought the club a long way, but he has shown us over the last 20-odd matches that he hasn't the capability and adaptability to take us any further. Good managers change their game to suit their players, opposition, etc. Moyes can't or won't do this. Which brings us to the biggest stinker of the bunch. The idea that because something worked in the past means it will work in the future is bullshit of the highest order. Sure, the team went on a magnificent run last year with similar tactics (+ right sided attack provided by Landon), but that hasn't carried over to this term. What that argument fails to see is that other teams have adjusted their tactics against us to counter what was new and successful next year. If Moyes can't continue to change his personnel and tactics to meet the opposition then it is bad news for EFC. Give him til the end of the month, if we fail to win a match, he needs to be gone. End of. Our squad should be at the other end of the table and we need to find a manager who can make that happen. Otherwise it's the Championship next year.
  4. JV will run everywhere you ask him to for about 20 mins, at which point his knee will fall off. Should have been sold some time ago when his worth was closer to 4 million.
  5. We did score today, it was just the wrong net. But, hell, at least Jags can hit the target.
  6. He lost to Stoke. That's what he's done wrong. If the team isn't scoring goals then they're not playing well. 75% possession and promising through balls don't win matches, goals do. A good manager finds ways to make his strikers score; after 19 matches it's no longer a one off. And as far as what he's done wrong today...started the ONLY striker we have who hasn't scored this term above two who have, and started our most out of form center mid, also played with ONE up top against Stoked. Typical unchanging negative bullshit from Moyes.
  7. fuck off. moyes out now.
  8. A good manager figures out ways to get his strikers scoring Moyes has not done that. And every time one looks to go on a scoring spree (Yak and Beckford both had a run of games where they were looking dangerous) he benches them. That is shit of the highest order. Moyes needs to sort himself and his staff quickly or find the door.
  9. This is definitely not a knee-jerk reaction. After 5 matches, even 10, you could call in a knee-jerk. But truth is, we're fucking half way into the season, still bottom half (and not far off relegation) and Moyes hasn't shown he's anywhere near close to figuring out a new approach to his squad. I won't go over the reasons again, because we all clearly agree on his tactical ineptitude. But when you say there isn't a better manager out there for us, I really think you're all well off the mark. Alright, my suggestions of Pellegrini and Hiddink are a bit farfetched. But, there is no reason we can't attract another up and coming manager like we did with Moyes. Surely, with the squad we've got (I know Moyes assembled it, but he hasn't a clue how to manipulate it) any manager with a modicum of tactical vision could do much, much better. Jol is a good shout I think, but why not look into the Championship or at coaches at bigger clubs, surely they'd jump at the chance to hold the reigns of a big club like Everton. To be fair to Hibbert, he did well yesterday and even the OG was just unlucky. My problem isn't with Hibbo, he's a blue through and through and I appreciate that. My problem is with DM.
  10. This is a load of utter shit. Hindsight hasn't got a thing to do with it. I didn't have to watch the match to know we weren't going to win without a striker, with 2 defensive mids, an out of form Arteta and our 3rd choice RB in at CB. Fuck, a blind man could have told you months in advance we weren't going to win that match given that team sheet. I completely disagree that we can't attract a better manager than Moyes. We may not find someone who makes the brilliant 2mil buys, but I did concede that was Moyes' one point of brilliance (if you can name another please do). But, after 18 matches, there is not a worse manager, tactically in the Prem. Rubes, at some point you've got to wake up and smell the pink dandelions and realize that we can go unbeaten from here and and still go down. If we keep drawing we're going down, and right now, David Moyes looks either unable or unwilling to produce a result better than a draw. Dunc, you keep giving us shit fr slagging off Moyes. Sure, he made a change yesterday, but you've got to be fucking kidding! Cahill as lone striker?!?! The man clearly doesn't even know how to properly employ his FAVORITE player, the one around whom he has built this team! Fuck man, Moyes has gone wrong at every step this term. He's stripped Yak of the starting spot just as he had found fitness and a glimpse of form and given it to that french piece of shit Saha who hasn't scored in a fucking year! Then, when Beckford makes some wonderful substitute appearances and does more in 20-30 mins than Saha did in 60-70; by all reasonable measures earning a start against bottom half opposition, Moyes benches him indefinitely. Fuckin ludicrous. Anyone who says we can't manage to attract a manager who is more tactically inclined than that needs to have a look around. Moyes doesn't know how to get his best players playing their best anymore. He doesn't know when and where to play his best players. And he's stopped taking any chances with new young players apart from Rodders (Coleman is 22, which is no longer young).
  11. Not a single sane person can now doubt that David Moyes is not the person to be holding the title of Manager of Everton Football Club. This year alone he has proved, beyond reasonable (and even unreasonable) doubt, that he his a terrible manager in every aspect save one. Moyes can make a shrewd, keen, brilliant buy in the transfer market from the lower or foreign leagues. Outside of that quality, he has nothing. Not anymore. At one point Moyes was the man to take this club forward, but not anymore. His ideas are tired; it seems as if he's not had a single new one in well over a year. Cahill and Fellaini up front? You've got to be fucking kidding. The man is so fucking blind; there is no way any person who has seen those two players even once plays them as the primary strike force. Cahill can't play back to the goal (cuz he's a fucking midfielder) and Fellaini hasn't scored since moving to his natural position in defensive mid. How Moyes can bench our only scoring striker 4 games in a row is beyond me. The man is a fucking moron. And we wonder why Pienaar is looking to leave. Would you want to play for a manager who is clearly not capable of winning? Get rid. The question really is...who is the man? Sven? Pellegrini? Hiddink? Surely with 60k/week we can attract a top name manager or at the least an attack minded young manager to do the job. Moyes has done a job assembling the squad, now we need someone who can make a proper team sheet each week and win us some god damned silverware. Out with Moyes.
  12. Glad I didn't watch the second half. When Seamus scored and the team didn't react, I figured a draw was the best we were gonna see. Fuckin pathetic display from everyone today. Moyes is a clown.
  13. get in seamie. now win it.
  14. Moyes has got to have the worst fantasy team around.
  15. Fucking hell, that's such a shit team it's laughable. Moyes is a fucking idiot, even if we get lucky and win.
  16. Howard Neville Jags Distin Baines Fellaini Coleman Osman Pienaar Cahill Beckford Arteta will play, as will Saha, but neither deserve it. Anything but a win and DM can fuck off.
  17. If Cahill starts as the lone striker, or worse, with Felli up front, I'm done. Even if we win, I'll be furious.
  18. Mostly can't tolerate ManU because all of it's US supporters are douchebags and don't know a thing about soccer other than what team they use on FIFA 2010. Same story for Chelsea. I know I'll get some shit for it, but most of my friends who are genuine footie fans are Reds fans, so it's hard for me to have the same hate I'd have for them we I English, sorry. Although, I'd still love to see them go down for a season or twenty! Bring back Rafa!
  19. we ought to just close this part of the forum. it's daft to suggest we're going to get anyone in this january. and speculation just depresses me.
  20. The original story seemed pretty speculative; no quote from any club official. The OS makes it sound a lot less serious.
  21. Clearly the Echo got that team wrong. Since when has Everton played with two strikers?
