dlblue reacted to StevO in Ronald Koeman
Based on the quite successful managerial career Koeman has had so far and him being a very big name in world football while we are trying to grow our brand you mean?

dlblue reacted to Eric in Ronald Koeman
Has to be on thin ice now. It's looking more and more likely that Moshiri isn't a football man based on Koeman's appointment and the summer.

No vardy, Kante is gone, mahrez a shadow of his former self, I actually like our chances here.

I actually don't think he is good enough, other than that small part of one season under Martinez in which he looked like he had a bit about him, he has never done anything since then in any of the following seasons to suggest he is this great english midfield hope everyone keeps going on about.

Hence why I put before he went to Southampton, I doubt he'd have stayed at Celtic if we went knocking
He won't end up here anyway City have a big interest apparently so we don't stand a chance again

Stuck with Koeman? Do you think Eddie Howe could do better job with our current squad? Could he rebuild this club? Who could he attract? Have any players outside of the Prem even heard of him?
Why would anyone want Eddie Howe over Koeman?!

Fans need to get behind him now, the 'project' is a long one and patience will be needed and im sure tested at times.

I never suggested Howe could do a job at Everton, but at the same time i never wanted Koeman in the first place

dlblue reacted to EFC-Paul in January 2017
I said a long time ago we should have been in for him before his move to Southampton such a shame we didn't as I can see him being a City player come January or next season

No chance on rose (Davies would be more realistic) and no thanks on hart but I would take draxler and schneiderlin For sure.

Exactly. Martinez brought in some good players no doubt but he also brought in some dross and allowed some dross to stay. Robles jags browning Gibson Mcgeady Lennon niasse kone, we could lose them tomorrow and it wouldn't be a bad thing.

I have no animosity towards him, but i do laugh when i find out he was at fault for a goal at City.

dlblue reacted to Matt in Ross Barkley
I was thinking the same thing.
Barkley has talent in spades. But, similar to Stones and Rom, Martinez gave a young talented player complete free reign, refusing to criticize mistakes and offered no discipline or structure which has meant that the lad lost any sense of guidance. Howe would be a great manager to get him firing, as Pep will be for Stones and I hope Koeman is for Rom. But, the change management required to undo 2-3 years of the "do what you want" mentality isn't going to be corrected in 6 months, maybe not even a full season.

dlblue reacted to Shukes in Ronald Koeman
I actually find it refreshing that at 0-0 he brought on a forward rather than a defensive player.
The wanted to snatch a win, not gold on for a draw.
In the end it didn't work out, but on another day it may have.

But all I see are comments on how poor he was.
Not how poor he is, for me he's just not as good as most people think he is.

dlblue reacted to Paddock in Ronald Koeman
Exactly this. The only option he had was Barry and he is more than capable of doing a job he's experienced and it's his natural position.
We got beat, end of. His hands were tied through injuries and limited options on the bench. He clearly doesn't fancy some players in the squad so he HAS to be given a few windows to bring his own players in rather than the dross Martinez has brought in that he's stuck with.

Maybe Ronaldo but i get your point.
The question isnt his technical ability though its his mental strength and footballing brain. Again i hope he comes good but i have my doubts. Im hoping 3 or 4 quality additions around him will help him.

Good post that Dean and spot on. If he doesn't improve us as a team then he should be moved on. Being a blue doesn't give him afree pass.
I hope he does make it though but I'm not sure he's got it in him.

dlblue reacted to Hafnia in Ross Barkley
If someone was going to design a modern footballer on a computer his physicality and technical skills set would be close to Barkley than any other player.
Powerful, quick, 2 very good feet, skillful, good passing ability, great shot....
The lad needs a dose of arrogance, self belief and above all players who revolve around him.
