Who would you guys have as captain?
Of the current squad it would be Hart. We aren't exactly brimming with captain material especially when no one is in enough form to be a guaranteed starter.
Barry would be an automatic starter if I was in charge but then again I would ideally want a captain to be young enough for the finals.

He's got to be more careful, this is like the time his penis slipped inside an old woman.
More like a slip of the wrist!

Because it's a matter of probabilities. This guy didn't work out, but Funes Mori did. I have no problem with what the club did in this case. It paid off.
Exactly this.
Otherwise what is the point in scouting young players at all.
-
I could accept it if Sam came out and said something like "the way I wanted to ply this game against X won't suit Ross and I needed to consider other players who can bring X Y Z"
-
I think he is decent too. Probably the best close control I have seen it's like he runs with the ball stuck to his foot.
-
What a surprise!
-
He barely got a kick for us and Bournemouth so why on earth would any English club get involved?
Rafa just picking a name he knows

"Other decent" would suggest he's decent. He's shit and so is his rubber-faced mate Phil Jones. It's no coincidence that the pair of them were fucked off instantly when Mourinho arrived.
Put it this way after Jags and Stones there are no other better centre backs. Cahill is a constant weakness in England's defence, Shawcross is an even bigger yard dog (especially with the new rules), and Jones is even worse. I must be forgetting someone else as that is a depressing list of English CBS
-
True, but he's had Jags to back him up, and as I've said elsewhere, he had plenty of practice with that with Stones.
I don't think he deserves to be dropped. Maybe give Seamus some sub appearences with 25-30 mins to go and allow him to get back up to speed. Feels a little like déjà vu with Galloway last season to be honest
Yeh Coleman would have to be fully fit and not just half cooked as that would be unfair to Holgate but Coleman will offer us more overall.
-
I understand the Smalling selection because there aren't many other decent English CB's knocking around.
When you actually look through that squad and look for in form players, it leaves you a bit worried.
-
Smalling shouldn't be there either. He's not even getting a game with United so how has he earned a call-up?
I said in the England thread we should wait and see before declaring things would be different under Allardyce.
I would have Smalling ahead of that Donkey Cahill regardless of whether he was playing.
Must admit I am very disappointed, I was expecting more from Sam.
-
Especially seeing as Stones was taken. Jags was far superior at the time.
-
I think Holgate has looked a little Naive in his positioning on occasions. Look at the Spurs goals and if I remember rightly both of their big chances came down his side.
He is young so it is to be expected but if Coleman is fully fit Coleman should start.
-
They all quit under Martinez. RM has an outdated physio degree and pseudoscience methodology to training.
Wasn't it just one... it was after that the frequency of hammie injuries slowed down.

For us he has scored 18 on his right and 32 on his left.
I would imagine that is probably as high as any other striker in the league with their 'wrong' foot

Well deserved and should be starting IMO.

Actually amazed. I thought he has started the season well, probably better than any other attacking English midfielder from what I have seen.
Will be interesting to see where Antonio plays because he is a shite RB (and was hooked by Bilic a couple of games back) and he doesn't really offer much as a winger either.
The biggest shock is Walcott... in what world does any manager pick him ever. He offers nothing.
-
Blame the medical department. If he wasn't fit Martinez wouldn't have played him with nothing on the line.
-
He was involved in plenty of the chances we created today. I couldn't give a shit if he is the one playing the final pass or shot as long as his presence on the pitch means that we are creating and scoring more.
-
I can't believe that we managed to get him for just over £7mil. He compliments Barry perfectly and they are going to be some pairing as long as they both stay fit and healthy.
-
I thought he got caught out on a couple of occasions and if I remember rightly their main two chances developed down his side. He is more than adequate cover for Coleman but you can still see his inexperience.
Going forward and on the whole he was excellent and he is going to be a great player for years to come.
-
I agree he was great today. Didn't have loads to do but dealt with potentially difficult and developing situations with ease.
Long may it continue.
-
IMO he should be Allardyce's first pick for his next England squad.

We are going to be fucked in January when half our squad buggers off to the ACN, especially when the injuries that usually occur at that time start to pile up!
Whats even worse is that we havent been able to get rid of any of the dead wood that shouldnt be playing for us ever again.
