I think it is a smart albeit uninspiring move. Barry will do exactly what Gibson can do and that is where we need cover. Im not a fan of Barry by any stretch of the imagination and I think he has been over-rated in the past but I can see the logic behind it. If a younger & quicker player is available then of course that is who I would prefer but if the money and/or player isnt available then we have to do what we have to do.

Really good game that and an impressive start. We should have won and we we conceded two flukey goals which were also finished off really nicely. Our goals were very nice, Barkley especially but the move for Coleman's was also top drawer. If we play like that every week we will win a damn site more than we lose.

Vic has to win that, impeded or not.

No but we havent got the bodies to really replace Osman, unless Heitinga comes on. Naismith showed there as he has done in pre-season that he can get into the right positions and last thing Martinez wants is for a sloppy pass to let them in and Mirallas had already done a couple of those.

I think we are trying to force it a little now and their last goal has deflated us a fair bit. I think we need a change in the centre of midfield so maybe Heits on for Osman and possible Kone on for Jela. If we play like we were we can still win this.

Interesting to see what Martinez does here because I don't really think we need to change the way we are playing. Maybe just a straight Kone for Jelavic swap but I would be a little reluctant to take off a goal threat.

To be fair Redmond has done quite well. Not clicked in the final third (luckily) but he has been sharp. I think he has done what he has needed to tbh. Slow to start but started to take control at the end of the half.

Brilliant first half that IMO. Couple of bad decisions in there, especially early on but we have grown into it and they havent had a sniff in the last 20-25mins, but its just a shame we cant put one of these chances in the back of their net. I actually think the midfield of Osman, Fellaini and Barkley has done very well and they have got better as the game has progressed. We just need to come out firing in the 2nd half and not show our old trait of coming out half asleep.

Huddlestone might have been a decent cover player for Gibson thinking about it. Rodwell would also be a very good player to have on loan IMO.
