  1. Doesnt Dave Whelen own JD Sports?
  2. Now Chelsea have got Willian a cheeky loan bid for Moses should be a go-er!
  3. Crazy. Thought Appleton would have been a good choice myself (as far as the potential appointments go!).
  4. He certainly has ability in there and I haven't seen either of his game this season (or even at the end of last season) to comment on whether he has progressed a lot recently but he always struck me as a strong tackler that had a bit of a hot head. When he first started playing games for Villa he looked well off the pace and quite clumsy. When I did see him last season he looked a much better player, albeit still quite raw. I think he will be a solid mid table premiership player but I would be surprised if he ever becomes more than that.
  5. No but 99% of the time good football will get ypu more points than bad. Im not talking one touch pass and move stuff but teams like West Ham played good football because they do what they are good at and make it work. Its not pretty but it gets them points. A lot of the 2nd half of last season Villa were playing better the result whilst Stoke were somehow scrambling points despite playing like a conference side.
  6. I think Delph was thrown in at the deep end and failed to adapt quick enough. It doesnt surprise me one bit that he is starting to get his act together under Lambert. Must admit I thought Lambert wasnt going to have much of an impact at Villa but I like the way he is setting up his teams and the promising players he is bringing in.
  7. No course not but there were a lot of teams playing worse football but getting more points.
  8. That's a real shame, I was looking forward to seeing how our lads would do in the comp.
  9. I agree with Tens post. The lad is pure class but lets not get carried away. He needs to show that ability week in week out, which I am sure he will do in time.
  10. No he cant, I demand perfection! Warning points next time
  11. A lot of the time they played better than the result too.
  12. Really? I didnt think they even looked threatening. RVW looked dangerous at times but that was it (albeit it did become more end to end when we were pressing for a winner). The first goal was unlucky. Two players went in for the challenge and it just happened to bobble out the way of the Norwich player. Second goal we did get a little caught out (cant remember why) but most balls out were covered and the FB skewed the crap out of it and it just landed plum for RVW. Yeh I would say Jags should have been a bit tighter but on most occasions the ball wouldnt have got there (because of the spin & bend). Thats not a defensive system error it's a Jagielka being caught out error, a bit like last year when we defended as a team pretty well but some idiot lost concentration.
  13. I think it basically came down to the fact that we didnt have enough up front money to buy him. I dont know whether something came up in the medical after the original fee was agreed or whether we didnt have as much money as we thought, but whatever it was we tried to re-arrange the payment terms and Twente didnt want to change it. At least that is what I have been led to believe.
  14. To be fair to Osman, we have only seen him play in the number 10 role once since Martinez came here and in that game he did quite well. I think its a shame Martinez has only worked with Osman at the end of his career because I do think he is a player he would have got a lot out of, playing a bit like Maloney did for Wigan.
  15. Spurs were so reliant on Bale last year that it will be a massive blow for him to leave regardless of who they bring in. Im still not convinced by AVB in this league and whilst they really do have an incredible squad it means jack if the manager cant get them to play together.
  16. Not to mention the other challenges he got stuck into, the times be was trying to drive us forward and the times he was racing back to cover Coleman or Baines when they were caught out of position.
  17. I dont see Heitinga being any more than cover when we are desperate and he is on the last year of his contract. If they gave us enough money to get someone else in I would bite their hand off. Not that it is going to happen mind you.
  18. Tough call. Given West Brom are also likely to press more agressively that Norwich, playing with 5 at the back would also give us more passing options and angles. Given our performance at the weekend I think its more than likely we will stick with the same set up as last week.
  19. Now that Kompany and Nastasic are injured, I wobder whether we can convince Pellegrini that Heitinga is worth an over inflated bid!
  20. Taylor off now. Now exactly much contact but still had to go for it. What a tool.
  21. Yeh on paper they look set up to compete but the reality is they havent even tried. No pressure, poor shape and poor discipline. Agree on Cabaye, if we sold Felli for 25mil I would love to get McCarthy and Cabaye although not aure that would be enough! Not really a Cisse fan though tbh. Doesnt do enough but can score a worldie.
  22. Yeh I would agree but Id have him in there ahead of Osman.
  23. Man City pressing pretty high up the pitch and quite aggressively. When they move it quickly they look very dangerous. Newcastle making them look good though.
  24. Class from Aguero. Thee best finisher in the league Other than RVP.
