  1. Thank you very Mucha! Now for the love of God sort this out Everton..
  2. I agree with DuncanMcismagic. Like most Blues I'm sure, I had a terrible Saturday night sitting around like a bear with a sore head. And yesterday of course is on top of what has already come this season. I do think it is reasonable that the question is just starting to be asked about DM, but I still believe he is our best asset (by some distance) and will come good. In Moyes I trust.
  3. 1) "I meant what I said" - what are you implying here? That you have spoken and that everyone should agree, because that is how it reads to me. 2) Distin "shouldn't have been handed the start this week (although he was worth his weight today)" - some evidence about what sportsmen (and people in general) are all about. Distin was awful against United, so today he played and performed much better, at least showing some determination to improve?
  4. With Jags, Distin and Heitinga as options along with Duffy as back up I do see the logic of moving Joseph on. He has been a great servant for us and so it is "thanks and good luck Joseph" from me. It is a huge shame that we haven't been able to bring in a striker or a RM. However, I think the club are due a good deal of credit for keeping the squad together this summer. We were all worried about the likes of Jack, Arteta, Pienaar and Jags moving on...we still have them. So boys, you're the ones with the shirt, so go and sort it out.
  5. I really don't see Villa as being a step up from us for a clearly (and quite rightly) ambitious DM. Villa are on a par with us, no more or less. So yes, unless he just feels its time for a change. Personally I am with the vast majority of Everton fans who want DM to stay. Sell Pienaar, take the fee while we can.
  6. Not usually a "statto" but I just cannot remember us playing Brentford.
  7. I haven't trawled through the various messages over these past couple of weeks to check this, but I can't remember anyone making the suggestion that we play Hibbert (or if fit, Neville) at RB with Coleman RM before today. On this basis I am inclined to give Moyes and the coaching staff the credit for giving that combination a try in the 2nd half today - it is a positive that I am taking out of the game that Coleman at RM may just be a great option and does much to help the balance between being defensively solid and attack minded down that side. I agree that RM is not for Rodwell, but ultimately it's just a reflection of our weakest position just now. Personally I see the last 2 games as being more the problem than today. We went to play a decent side today away from home and deserved at least a point and probably deserved to win it. However, the first 2 results had put them under presure to get the win today. We need some luck, a lucky goal and we'll get going. But no question this is a nightmare as for me, any shot at 4th has gone already. Also worried that I don't see much leadership on the pitch just now. It's not sexy to big up the claims of a solid defender like Hibbert or for that matter the claims of Phil Neville...but the guy has more experience and nous than the others and if fit, I would bring him back in to play at RB with Coleman RM. In Moyes I trust.
  8. It's not as exciting as having an attacking full back, but defending is as much an art of the game as attacking. Coleman has been fantastic and deserves his chance, but just be conscious that if he makes a defensive mistake that loses us the game then it doesn't help us or ultimately him. That said, assuming Ashley Young plays for Villa tomorrow it would tell us a great deal about how ready he is defensively - because clearly he is more than ready in terms of going forwards. As for Tony Hibbert, his attacking play and crosses are really poor, but I don't think he should get the severe mauling that he tends to get - he wears the shirt and gives his all.
  9. Hmm, very difficult to call this one. 1-1.
  10. Befitting from the man that goes by the name of Duncan McKenzie is Magic! I say that as I sit here in my Duncan Mc t-shirt!
  11. In this (unfortunately!) hypothetical situation, I would look to invest an impressive amount into our youth and scouting system. I'd look for the club to hire the very best youth coaches and the very best scouts that are around the world. And I would set up some kind of fund that keeps investing in the youth system for years to come.
  12. Agree with Dark, suspect the Yak has played his last game for us. Shame really, but I just think he gets itchy feet quite often and wants to move on (or is that an itchy palm for cash?!). Don' mind what team we put out, just win and kick start the season..
  13. If you don't live in or around Ipswich then this thread won't interest you. Just wondered if there are any Everton fans on here that live in or around Ipswich area? Ignore my username, I moved to Suffolk! Looking to meet up in local pubs to watch our live TV games and also I drive up for some of our home games, so would be happy to share the car journey. Dodgy start to season, but keep the faith Blues, wherever you are! IMWT, COYB
  14. We will beat Wolves by a couple of goals. Personally, I think there has been an over-reaction to the defeat at Blackburn. In Moyes I trust.
  15. I went for 4th. We are right to be excited about what this squad could produce and confident in the lads. However, it goes without saying that we shouldn't under-estimate what a tough task it is to finish even 4th these days. Whether we like it or not, City's money will almost certainly make them very competitive for a start. However, as long as we can steer clear of too many injuries (please, be lucky on this front) and one of the other strikers can chip in to help Saha with the goals then it could be a good one...
  16. Don't get wound up by it, it's a waste of energy.
  17. In my opinion Baines was truly terrible against Mexico. Putting aside thoughts about how much support/cover he did or didn't get, his performance was not even close to being good enough at that level. That was against Mexico, let alone the likes of Spain, Argentina and Brazil. Don't get me wrong, I really feel for Baines, but objectively that performance was poor. Warnock is no better. To my mind the whole debate about the England left back slot (as back up to Ashley Cole) simply emphasises the behaviour of John Terry. Wayne Bridge was an innocent party in that whole scenario and then feels obliged to withdraw from the squad when he is clearly the 2nd best left back that England have.
  18. I wish him well. Respect the club, the management team, his team mates, the fans and give his all. That is expected.
  19. Fingers crossed for Shane for a full and speedy recovery.
  20. I think the author will now realise that you need to come up with better suggestions than this on this site!
  21. My post isn't going to set pulses racing (or indeed moving at all?!) but for the first time that I can remember I wouldn't be devastated if we didn't bring anyone in this summer. In the next year or two, the economy is going to have a really tough time and as such the clubs are going to have to keep working towards being more sensible (City aside). Ppersonally, if we keep our current squad together (crucially keeping the likes of Peanuts, Fella and Jack), have much better luck on the injury front and get off to a decent start (say 12 points from first 6 games) then I fancy us to go really well given that we won't have the Europa Cup. I honestly think that there is now a fairly clear top 8 sides in this country (see table) - based on the past few seasons and there are not many sides that will be capable of breaking into that top 8. On this basis, the question for me is what we can do to try to get back ahead of the likes of Villa and Spurs and given their debts, honestly challenge Liverpool. If I could have one realistic wish it would be to see Donovan back but this squad is good.
  22. Have cast my vote on here. But folks, anyone but Cameron (the man hasn't answered any question). Like on here, we want well considered ideas not a load of crap!
  23. Whilst it remains mathematically possible keep it going Blues. Stoke 1 Everton 2 (Yak and Jack!) Fingers crossed.
