  1. Yep, should be ok. Start checking the club's official site about 3 weeks before the game. If you enjoy a beer, do have one in the Winslow (right opposite the Main Stand)...part of the overall experience. All the best
  2. I understand the desire to keep Joleon and don't get me wrong, I share it. But stick pins in a Moyes doll if he sells a CB for 3 times figure he paid for him having had a couple of good seasons service for him? It is the newspapers that are pedalling silly money figures for players at this time of year - do we really think he is worth more than that? If he's worth £20m then what price for Vidic?
  3. To be honest, I think £15m cash would be too hard for the club to resist if we are as cash-strapped as we all think we are. If you think about the model we are using to move forward, it is based on cashing in on an asset and then reinvesting that money for 2 or 3 other players and bringing them on. I would hate to lose Lescott, or indeed many of our players, but at £15m I sense it may be a decent deal (lets not forget that prior to coming to us he had some bad injury problems that could re-appear). I suspect that he will want to go and double his wages and indeed play for a side that is clearly able to make a very big push for the top 4 by buying their way into it.. If he goes, he goes with my good wishes.
  4. Personally speaking I am proud of the fact that we haven't been sold to an overseas investor. I do accept that if we are to have a chance of real success, then serious investment needed, but personally I am proud of where we stand in the English game today.
  5. At this point, he is worth having as a sub given he has an eye for a goal and can put the work in for the last 20 minutes of a game. Given we can't make 7 or 8 massive signings, we have to have some back up and Gosling is reasonable back up.
  6. Never mind the goal that Jack scored - go on to the Guardian's website and read their match report - they were waxing lyrical over the class and quality of his performance. On that article, his valuation has just increased by a couple of million...not that we should sell him for a minimum of 3 years if at all. This lad is the future of Everton..
  7. Birmingham City a possible - Gold has talked about wanting out after some of the treatment he has received.
  8. Agree, Hutchison was a good pro for us.
  9. Agree. I am someone who tends to acknowledge that everyone has their price and whilst I am delighted with our team, there are not many that I would be gutted to lose if the price was decent enough. However, Rodwell must be kept for at least 3 years (I would love to think he would stay for much longer but the depressing reality of football kicks in at some stage). If Lescott does leave this summer, it would not surpruse me if we started playing Jack at CB from this coming season. Other than Moyes, Jack is the best asset we have at present.
  10. Even having him on loan is quite costly when you consider we have limited funds. Clubs that can afford to have a 3rd striker of this standing would do well to have him, but we are looking for someone who can start for us - I don't think he is what we need.
  11. That's got to be worth a chorus of "We're all going on a European Tour..."
  12. Done. Interesting. A club is about its history, its values and its sense of family.
  13. No, was outside at the Premier Inn before game and Crock of Gold after.
  14. Read a fair few of the comments above and of course everyone entitled to their opinion. I was there, had a seat very close to the pitch in line with half way line (no, I'm not Moyes, on the other side of the pitch!). What TV didn't show was how well Chelsea pressed us - whenever we had the ball the Chelsea players closed us down incredibly quickly - something they obviously worked on. And when pressed that hard, our players just were not quite good enough (on the day at least) to be able to use the ball under pressure. Osman had a terrible game. Hibbert - his game ended after 7 minutes when he got booked - at that point he was too scared to go near Malouda. But, I am with those who say we got 5th, we got to theCup Final and with 20 minutes left of the Cup Final were level with the side that has Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, et al. Mike's point was spot on - we desperately needed Chelsea to have played in CL Final. One thing I am sure you will be pleased to hear. I was in the Crock of Gold (a few hundred yards from the ground) after the game and at 7pm last night the singsong in there was class - the bar staff were bemused by the spirit, you could see them thinking "what would you be like if you had won?" - that hour in the pub will live long in the memory. A proper club. Go and rest everyone - we've got more progress to make next season..
  15. Thanks, that is appreciated. Commiserations for the CL, but still another superb season for United.
  16. Police designate pubs to each team. We have got the pubs close to Wembley Park tube - namely the likes of The Torch, The Parish, Crock of Gold and First Class Sports Bar. I presume you have a ticket. If you don't have a ticket, these pubs won't be open to show the game, they aren't allowed to so you would need to either go further afield or find out what Silver Spoons is doing (its a club that is charging to get in but can show the game and is only for Everton fans - however at present nobody can get through to them on the 'phone to verify if its ticket only - 020 8900 2212).
  17. Productivity in the workplace by Everton fans today is going to be very low!
  18. Blimey, you must have been a nervous wreck waiting until this stage. Delighted for you - see you there, I'll be the bloke with the blue tee-shirt
  19. I'll be in the ground. Will be getting to the area for 11.30am, heading to one of the Everton pubs near Wembley Park Tube and hopefully not too drunk before kick off!
  20. It is important that you get this right otherwise you will get stuck in the Wembley area unable to see it even on TV. Firstly, police split which teams get which pubs - we have got the pubs closest to Wembley Park tube (Jubilee Line) - pubs such as the Crock of Gold, First Class Sports Bar and The Parish. BUT - my understanding is that pubs close to the ground are not able to open for the duration of the game - I am not sure what happens exactly but worth checking. However, my suggestion would be to ring Silverspoons, Its a club that is on the overall Wembley complex. I know its for Everton fans tomorrow and I presume you can watch the game as someone said its £10 to get in. Use the website beerintheevening and search using Wembley as closest area and then call the pub to see if they will be showing game itself. Please don't let yourself get caught out and stuck come 3pm!
  21. Well, it's nearly time. Firstly, if we don't get the result we crave on Saturday lets take it well, lets not vent at a bad decision or at Chelsea and all their money etc. Let's instead applaud the fantastic effort of the team at having got past so many good sides to be in the Final, whilst pushing up the table to get 5th with a small squad. That's the end of the 'what if' scenario. Wherever you're watching have a fantastic time, get behind the lads and revel in the fact that after years of being put through the mill in the pre-Moyes days, we are back and getting the credit we deserve. For weeks I haven't fancied us for this. But here is the thing that won't go away. We haven't beaten Chelsea now for 22 games - its just a statistic that sounds to me like its screaming out to be laid to rest. We take the lead in the first half through Lescott, Chelsea equalise at which point we all think the show is over. And then Vaughan comes on and gets the winner. Enjoy and most of all. Believe. You're in my heart, you're in my soul.
  22. Hate to be the accountant here (I'm not!) but before anyone gets too excited lets then start by deducting the salaries!
