  1. Bill is right. I presume that the reason Birmingham are being called shite, is because they aren't perceived as a 'big club'. Well, the reality is that McLeish is doing a super job at that club and they deserve some credit. Otherwise, we just look like we know nothing about the game. Surely in this modern era where money talks, we can appreciate a side for punching above their weight - lets face it there probably isn't a side that have had more credit in the last 5 years for punching above their weight than we have. 7 days ago we were all raving after the City game. We were poor yesterday and deserved to go out. I'm gutted as I love the FA Cup, but them's the breaks. We have two huge games in the next week - we need to take 6 points from the games with Sunderland and Wigan, so that we have something to hang on to during a dificult February. Unless we perform miracles in the Europa Cup (there are too many better sides left in it) we have to tkae on the chin that a top half leaue finish is what this season is to be.
  2. I agree with Blue Nose Yankee. Two seperate (and not necessarily linked) points are made. The financial position of many (most) clubs is poor and we are no different (much better off than some, not as good as others). As for saying that we would accept serious offers, Mr Kenwright has made his position on this very clear so it's hardly "news") The financial situation of football is frankly a disgrace. West Ham's new owners take over and announce that the club is £110m in debt and then within 48 hours seem to be trying to entice a player with a salary of £100,000 a week - farcical.
  3. The day the eason clicks into place. 3-0
  4. Sounds to me like the kids Dad is doing things just right.
  5. Vaughan on bench is a surprise but little by little, Moyes is getting a bit more choice. Go and win this Everton..
  6. All be aware that Bluenoseyankee is spot on here - this Birmingham game will go a long way to determining how the rest of our season will pan out. In the context of 2009-10 season, is simply a must win. So much riding on it I'm not willing to predict.
  7. My understanding is that Neill and Heitinga are available to us now in Europa Cup. The tie with Sporting Lisbon should be a tight one - I'd make us slight underdogs but it is winnable.
  8. I was there that night. October 84 - the month of Sharp's goal at Anfield and the following week drubbing United 5-0 at home.
  9. I must say I am REALLY looking forward to watching this. In some ways if it was a best avaialable 11 in a dead rubber I'd be sitting there not too fussed, but the chance to see what some of these lads can do is going to be great to watch. I imagine attendance will be low but I hope people get right behind them and don't get on their backs. As for most of them but in particular I suspect it is a case of....Jose Baxter - opportunity knocks.
  10. Was a cracking story that one, what it's about.
  11. 9th or 10th. One decent cup run, but not to a final.
  12. Rest as many first teamers as we posibly can. The first team players will take confidence from the Chelsea game. Can you imagine another key player getting an injury in this 'dead rubber' of a game. Certainly expect to see Nash, Coleman, Duffy, Baxter and Agard. Maybe Akpan too and even another reserve player or so also. The home game against Birmingham is central to which way our season goes from here.
  13. Despite all of the injuries, a few weeks ago I really was starting towonder whether this squad were interested. Personally I was wrong and fair play to them - in difficult circumstances they are digging deep to turn things around. We now have a run of 3 league games that are winnable - and I honestly think we will. And that goal will do the Yak the world of good. Well done boys.
  14. It's quite tricky pulling humour off in emails...
  15. Even Liverpool fans would acknowledge that we were the better side today. We have little choice but to try and take defeat and our current run with as much dignity as we can muster. With the side likely to feature the likes of Peanuts and Billy over the coming weeks, the tide will turn soon. Proably not until Christmas but the results will come soon. Blues, thanks for today. It's maybe the only time ever I have felt positive when losing to that lot.
  16. Where is Turner at the moment? Be interesting to know how Ruddy does against the likes of Celtic and Rangers, who probably are fair comparison for some of the Premiership sides.
  17. I would be surprised if Cahill is the kind of player that takes it for granted. I just think that it's a combination of being played out of position and he's out of form - which all players have at times. Lets not forget that this is a player that we signed from the Championship for £1.5m and was a player that everyone else knew about and didn't take the chance on him. Cahill owes us nothing other than giving his best as any empoyeee should do for their wage. Play him. Howard Hibbert Yobo Distin Baines Billy Heitinga Jack Peanuts Cahill Yakubu Saha won't do 90minutes so inclined to keep him for the bench. If Jack doesn't make it, then Fella. Whatever you do Blues don't concede in the first 25. Go win this Blues.
  18. Difficult days but you know what, sod it. Sod the poor form, sod the ground move stuff (regardless of where you sat on this the current uncertainty is hurting the club at this precise moment, even if the Government decision turns out to be a blessing in disguise - time will tell). So, for those of you willing to get your chin off the floor.. It's a grand old team to play for, It's a grand old team to support And if you know your history It's enough to make your heart go whoa whoa whoa We don't care what the red sh*te say What the f*** do we care 'cause the only thing we know Is there's gonna be a show And the Everton boys will be there.
  19. That has to be one of the lowest points in a long long time. Shame on them. I will be interested to see what reaction we get in 2nd half.
  20. Huge win. GIves a bit of a bit of space given that upcoming games are tough. And we win the last game that I experience in my 30's so I'm pleased with that! Well Done Boys, dug that win out.
  21. My nerves are in tatters.
  22. I am probably not fully up to speed with this, but am glad someone else has picked up on some of Jose's off-pitch choices. I'm linked to him on Facebook and I actually ended up emailing the club asking if they knew some of the comments he makes on that site. Granted, he's a kid but some of it is worthy of fines at minimum. Would be a shame if a talent goes to waste... As for on the pitch today, something to fight to hold on to...Come on Blues.
  23. Yep, no worries, I read you correctly and agree with you. I understand why it would be a risk to play Baxter just now, but it can't be that much more risk than Gosling. Right now, we just need whoever gets the shirt to give it their all. COYB!
  24. Good point, well made! He doesn't even get off the bench which I find baffling. Anyway. Still, as I look out of my office window at Ipswich's ground, I know that there is always someone worse off!
  25. In the circumstances I would have given Jose Baxter a try. At least the lad would try to take the chance given to him.
