  1. Id say Barkley has more potential than McCarthy in the long run, and the more i think about it off the back of J's comments yesterday, McCarthy is more of a replacement for Gibson than Fellaini. My only issue with the McCarthy thing is the price, it's crazy money, we are talking the same money as the Manc's were trying to offer for Fellaini and more than what they did for Baines. I really hope Roberto can swing something with DW on this as anymore than £10m and i really don't see where the value is tbh, i think we could get better elsewhere. Lets just wait and see at the moment. Id really rather see us sign a Tiote type, christ for £15m we could probably get Cabeye(worth a try)
  2. Well said Bill, Europes big boy's are hardly all forming an orderly que for him are they, there has to be a reason, i feel the asking price is too much just for starts.
  3. yeah possibly, but it's not worked for Ossy for a while now, he was hit and miss last season, he should really be no more than a bench player imo.
  4. Like J said in the McCarthy thread, he is more of a similar type to Gibson than Fellaini, like you said we would still need a bruiser in the middle. I reckon Barkley will get the nod over Osman in that position imo. as Tonka said you would expect Osman to excel under Martinez but so far it's not happened for him.
  5. Really? Well if he honestly believes that then he need's to give himself a shake imo as we are in desperate need of midfield additions, even if Fellaini ends up staying. Osman is showing he is not up to the job and Gibson managed to get himself injured before the season even started and will no doubt get injured again at some point during the season, leaving Barkley and possibly Fellaini. No way is that adequate imo.
  6. Yes but Gibson is proving a bit of a short term solution due to his constant injury issues, so it's probably a useful position to strengthen. J you know your players, do you not agree that the £15m is a little on the high side?
  7. I still think £15m is a lot to pay for him if we do sign him.
  8. http://efcfeelinblue.com/barry-staying-put/
  9. Why? he could save us a fortune on a DM if he keeps up his current level of performances.
  10. Mate, they would tax fresh air in this country if they found a way, greedy cunts :shaking fist:
  11. With these types of transfers there's always an opening bid, it's just that this is a very low one. I think if they stick another £10m on to the offer then the club might start talking to them, that would be £23m for Fellaini and £15m for Baines, i could see movement then. The important thing is that IF it's going to happen, let's get it done and dusted this week so Roberto has time to strengthen the squad with what he needs.
  12. If they throw Rooney in on loan for a season or two and paid his wages would people consider it? i would i think.
  13. He still has the final say on the player and if he honestly thought it was a cheap price and he'd know we would reject it, he would go and say "look, there both good players, Bill is never going to accept £28m for them" It's his former club. he knows exactly what they are worth. It's amazing that in the space of weeks, Moyes is managing to destroy 11 years of a fairly good relationship with his former club
  14. Reports that we have rejected a combined bid for Fellaini and Baines for £28m, if true Moyes can fuck off and i believe we should NEVER do business with them again.
  15. I thought Palace looked ok in bits, they will struggle though. Hull were shite i agree.
  16. Borrowing against future income is a very dangerous game to play, no doubt about that, but it's very frustrating as i think we are honestly only 2-3 players away from a very good side. Im no financial expert though and get lost with all the figures and terms that go with it on a regular basis. Done some reading recently on Vibrac and they sound a shady mob, and loan/mortgage company for football clubs basically.
  17. So how come we are not borrowing against it like we usually do then?
  18. Again reports suggest we need to sell to be able to buy McCarthy. Does this mean ALL the new found wealth of the TV money has gone to the banks and "infrastructure" the few signings we did make could easily have been paid for by savings in wages and money for prize money. Kenwright's "few quid" to Martinez has really ended up being just that hasn't it.
  19. A point away from home on opening day ain't too bad imo. Osman looked really out of place today, at worst id rather see Heitinga in there, Distin again looked out of sorts, Mirallas was quiet(ish) Barkley looked awesome, and Pienaar looked good in flashes. Im fairly pleased with today's performance.
  20. Naismith had the the final shot that's how
  21. Distin has looked all over the place today
  22. 2 goals in 5 mins,thats more like it.
  23. http://www.sportsdirectnews.com/premier-league/30222-everton-transfer-news-martinez-lines-up-tadic-bid.php im not familiar with this player, anyone?
  24. Have to agree it doesn't fill me with confidence, leaves us with very little.
