  1. When you see them writing drug trafficking in the media and then find out it was basically an ounce of coke for him and his mates, it’s does seem a little exaggerated. Not that I’m trying to justify it but if we see him walking out of Wembley after we’ve snatched an injury time winner in the semifinal, wide-eyed and gurning, shouting “I want Mourinho! Everton aren’t we!”, then maybe he’s the man for the job. Anyway, on a serious note, I think there’s been a lot of bad press and I’m not sure how justified that is. I’ll be watching this space and trying to find out a bit more about them in the coming days no doubt. But at the same time, I kind of agree with what Moshiri said in his release. Times have changed. Premier League football clubs and they their ownership models are not what they used to be. We kind of have to accept that. At the end of the day, it what happens in the pitch that matters and ultimately they’ll be judged on that. They could take billions out of the club, but if we’re winning trophies not many are gonna complain.
  2. Wasn’t expecting that announcement. Don’t know what to make of it to be honest. Are we jumping from the firepan into the fire?
  3. In this this case Mike it’s evidently “Come on up!”
  4. If it’s not stained and the price is right….
  5. So one guy who doesn’t have enough money to run the club is selling to another guy who doesn’t have enough money to run the club? What was the phrase? Top investors of real quality!
  6. Erm… I was thinking majority means ‘most of’ whereas full means ‘all of’. A majority stake might just mean that Bill gets to stay on for the inevitable “transitional period!”
  7. The Guardian reporting that it’s a majority stake. Also, the “drug trafficking” isnt as bad as it first sounds. Apparently the guy was “arrested in 2003 after being caught with 31 grams of cocaine that were sent to his address in the post, which he later admitted was for him and a friend. He was sentenced in 2004 and released on a long period of parole, which ended in 2018.” 31 grams hardly sounds like he’s Howard Marks!
  8. Looks like it would be December January if it goes through at the earliest. I’d just hope they don’t end up selling the stadium, but rather utilise it to generate revenue for the club.
  9. If we include Forest on the 2nd December, that’s 10 matches between now and then. I’d like to see us with at least 15 points by then. That we see us averaging a little more than a point a game, which over the course of the season gets you to the 40 point mark. Obviously, that’s not an ambitious target but I think it should be a good indicator as to whether we are going to be struggling again come April and whether Dyche is up to the job. Besides that, performances are going to count for a lot and we’re going to have to keep our fingers crossed with regard to injuries.
  10. This might seem like a radical idea but perhaps we could open a thread specifically for Demarai Gray seeing as he’s so popular around here?
  11. This conversation is a bit weird for me. We are only four games into the season and already talk about getting a new manager is starting to surface. It’s almost like we’ve come to expect a change in manager, and now we’re just counting the days till it happens. But if you look at it, Dyche came in with a remit of keeping us in the Premier League. At the time I’d say most of us thought we were certain to go down. We couldn’t score, the mentality was crap and we looked at sure bet for the drop. He managed to keep us in the league, and although it wasn’t pretty, he succeeded in fulfilling that remit. Now he’s had a window to try and “rebalance” squad and in the main, even though we may lack depth, the squad is probably a little more balanced… maybe, it’s certainly not worse. We’re four games in, and though there have been a couple of matches which have been real stinkers, on the whole we’ve played quite well and created plenty of chances. I feel there is still a lot to be optimistic about at this point, but the last thing we need is shouts for a change in manager when the seasons only just started. We need to get out of that mentality and at least give him and the team a chance. Maybe by the end of November I’ll have changed my tune but it’s only September so for now I’m going to whistle this one.
  12. If that’s anything to go by then we have mid-table mediocrity to look forward to. At this point in time, I’d take that all day long.
  13. I remember watching the interview with him talking about his tactics when he first arrived. He seemed to have a lot more depth than people gave him credit for. I still feel he’s got a lot to prove, here at Everton. Im not completely sold on him. He’s got to start winning more games. The positive are that we have been creating chances, so maybe once we get a win or two the floodgates will open and that’ll also have a knock on effect on the mentality of the side. But if that doesn’t happen then the inevitable merry-go-round will.
  14. Our biggest problem, even putting aside things like mentality and defensive mistakes has been scoring goals. DCL out for the best part of two seasons and no decent replacement was the reason we lost or drew so many. With Beto coming, looking to hit the ground running, and hopefully DCL finally back to fitness (let’s put his facial injury down to bad luck), I’m much more optimistic that we’ll score a lot more goals and give ourselves a chance of winning a few more games - cos if you don’t score you can’t win. Having said that, I also worry about the effect injuries will have on our squad. We don’t have the depth required for a long PL season. If we can get DCL and Beto scoring goals then that’ll be a start. Hopefully, we’ll somehow manage to scrape through to January where we can maybe look at reinforcements. I really do not want to be having a conversation about whether we need to sack another manager come November/Christmas. But ultimately, that’ll be decided by how many goals we score and subsequently how many losses we turn into draws and draws into wins.
  15. Am I right in thinking he cost us 1.5 million. Now we’re getting 10? Clear profit. I’m happy with that.
  16. Sorry patto but I’m really struggling to see where you are coming from with this.
  17. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: door-handle! It’s this kind of attitude that we need shut of. I really hope he’s gone by Friday. Not even sure you can say we’ll be short without him. He’s made it obvious he’s not gonna play for the shirt, so goodbye lad and good luck.
  18. As I was scrolling down the page, I was thinking exactly the same thing
  19. He was supposed to be staying for a 'transitional period' - does anyone know what that actually means? Transition to new ownership, to new stadium, to new season (clearly not), new league?
  20. No need to refrain from anything. That little exchange earlier was entertaining and what makes this forum fun. We all out have our moments. But the banter is generally in good heart. Keep posting!
  21. All we have to go on really is a bitchy Instagram post. For sure, behind the scenes, there's a lot more to this, but Dyche hasn't been slagging him off in press conferences. Also, if it's true that he was doing similar stuff at Leicester then that tell me it's a character thing. I just think they are more grown up ways of handling the situation than posting snide posts on social media. I personally believe that people who behave like that are rather toxic. Hence my get rid comment. If Dyche has blocked a move, that's a different topic, but that's on Dyche. And most definitely the wrong call.
