To be fair to DCL, he looks absolutely gutted walking off there. But I hope that gets those in charge on the case bringing in another striker. We need one in for next weekend now. If he's fractured his cheek bone, as it look like he might, he's probably out for another few weeks.

Actually thought he had a half decent game on Saturday. Probably his best performance since he's been here. said that he should have put away at least one of his chances. I thought he looked most dangerous when we were trying to play balls in behind, the trouble is he doesn't have the height, the strength or the pace to capitalise, and his shooting is tame for a striker. ... I got the impression overall that we don't practice with keepers, anything that was on target was straight at Leno. That goes for him as well as the rest of the team.

I'm gonna do Lampard evaluation... Has he shown in preseason that he's got potential? Yes Are we lacking in options upfront? Yes Is he a better option than Maupay? Most probably Is he ready for the Premier League? Maybe, maybe not Is he ready to be a realistic back up for DCL? Probably not

Another perspective is we test a player out before a potential permanent move. That way if it doesn't work out, we send them back not laden with lengthy contracts for players who don't hit the mark. The option to buy option obviously needs to factored in then so we don't overpay if they perform well. @c1982 it seems Gnonto adds a little more creatively, whereas Sulemana might be a little more direct?

On the basis of that performance, we're in for more of the same bottom of the table rubbish next season. We just aren't enough of a threat up top. I feel sorry for the lad, I really do, but I just don't see what Maupay brings to the team. He's got no pace, no height, and he's never a fox-in-the-box cos his positioning is way off. Get him out please, put us all out of our misery. We've moved on half of our defence - now putting our faith in Holgate and Keane - and still don't have realistic options for goals - hoping DCL stays fit. It's a team built on a wing and a prayer. They had better have this shit sorted soon, cos I just can't be arsed wasting my time watching this shit!

I feel like the best back-up option to DCL at the moment is not bothering to watch the game.
