  1. Gotta be honest, even I'm starting to feel a bit frustrated. And to be fair, it is only because others are making signings, mainly because redshite are doing business. First thing I do is read transfer updates on sky sports app when i get in from work. And tonight it seems particularly lively. Hence my frustrations. I also am starting to dislike the idea that we MIGHT be waiting for Barry and Lukaku to decide what they want to do. Surely we have given them decision deadlines? However, then I get my rational head back on. It'll be ok. Roberto knows what he is doing. The new boys will come rolling in soon. Edited to take out predictive text 'corrections'!!!
  2. This debate still going on? Frantic! Imagine what it will be like if he signs? It'll be time to lock up your daughters...testosterone all over the place!
  3. How is it pretty much confirmed at 75k? I've seen one article state 75k, from the Irish Post. How reliable a source is that?! Haha!
  4. Seems that way doesn't it? Just hope the fee isn't daft and there is money left in the kitty for other deals.
  5. No doubt with the extra TV money, we'll have a slightly higher salary budget. I'm sure the club's financial position is looked at with the banks, and if they feel ok, then we can be at ease...For now!
  6. It changes every day! Most things at the moment with most players seem to be speculation. I reckon the whole market will kick off once the world cup is done
  7. Haha. Love how frustrated we get over a player that we know naff all about. Great stuff.
  8. Monaco paid 38.5mill for him last year at 21. It's not too wide of the mark. Besides, he said he wouldn't be keen on the premiership as it's too physical. Soft bastard.
  9. Erm, not sure of your argument there? All 3 of those players were continuously linked to other clubs??? And the bit in bold, not sure where that's going? Anyway. I think your missing the point of the subject a bit. The whole linked to big clubs thing is more to do with the 'over hype' of Lukaku. It's not solely to do with who wants him, but it's more Haf making a point that if he was as good as some believe, the likes of United, City, Madrid etc would be all over him. But also Chelsea wouldn't want to let him go. Which we don't really know yet anyway. So the whole last umpteen pages of this thread have been pointless!!! It's not really my argument, because I'm in the school of thought that we don't know what is happening anyway. I just liked that angle of thinking. Although the latest round is that he is going on loan to atletico for a year. Honestly, I really couldn't be arsed with being farmed out on loan to 3 clubs in 3 years. Man, would do my nut in a bit.
  10. Nah, it's just another way of looking at it. That's all. Valid reasons, on both sides, have been done. And done again. Then done again. Looking forward to him getting back and it all get sorted. Then hopefully this thread can get locked. Unless he signs for us...then it will rumble on for a few years. Fantastic.
  11. Sounds quality. And when some of you boys get excited, it's usually valid! But like the long list of players listed in this section, when you look at the linked article, there is nothing anywhere near concrete. Just pure speculation. I'm looking forward to actual news coming out from the club too.
  12. Ooooooooh, not yet that one. Not yet!!!
  13. Is that not the point he's making though? In a round about way (!!!). That Lukaku is not wanted by those clubs who go out and snap up the higher calibre players, pay whatever for them (especially if they are young), yet they don't seem to be in a hurry to snap up Lukaku? So despite this magical mystical 1 in 2 strike rate, and despite only being 21 etc etc...Not many seem to be chasing him? So is he really of the calibre believed? And can he splashing out 20 or so million really be justified? Of course it could be that he is away with Belgium and doesn't want any distractions. For all we know he could come back after the world cup, be told he's not wanted at Chelsea and the floodgates open.
  14. I'd still have him. He'd be good in our squad. He knows how to get into the right positions...and that's all we need up top!
  15. Same here. Can we keep it for a while to rebuild our commercial image?!
  16. Maybe not long left on his contract? Might have got a huge signing on fee?
  17. The problem is that the current commercial lot at the club don't know how to keep the bandwagon rolling....
  18. I have to agree with Haf that while we are having success on the pitch, and I've no doubt Bills style of being hands off and letting the manager get on with it has helped, along with his 'passion' for the club, unfortunately behind the scenes decisions have been made which have not helped progress us off the field. Things such as the financing of the original buyout, the wasted monies on stadium and other projects, refinancing of loans, selling assets etc. These poor moves mean that we are still a bit of a 'sell to buy' club.
  19. Haha...what name would that have been to call me?!! The idea sounded very 'american', hence asking if you were. I haven't read the other posts yet...but it's like this...The issue I had with your idea was the sound of the club being used to blood USA nationals. That doesn't work for me. If they are good enough, fair play. But it would be massively restrictive on the club if an American owner, or any owner, came in and laid down such conditions. It would be detrimental to the club, fans and the new owner. The shiekhs have had huge success at city...but they haven't said the team must have 5 of their nationals in. They've just spanked huge amounts. FSG have had a good start at Liverpool...but again, no insistence on any particular national playing. See, that's the difference to your original post. I would welcome anyone coming in who will take the club forward. But for every Sheikh or oligarch, there have been many, many disasters and empty promises. Many clubs have been ripped to pieces by sneaky slimey corrupt investors. It's early days for FSG, I'm not totally convinced yet. How will they get their money back? Or when? We should all be careful what we cry for.
  20. You've edited it...what bit did you edit while I was typing?!!!
  21. Are you American? Fortunately, it doesn't and wouldn't work that way. Good thinking, but no. Why would we want to have 3, 4, 5 Americans forced on us by our owner? I'm pretty sure that as we are an English team, a founder club, our fans would want to see 3, 4, 5 quality English players...to see our own national team progress? Not be a 'feeder' club for the U S of A!!! The idea stinks of modern day commercial bullshit, where you sell the soul of the club/company for someone else to make money. It's just so 'american'. The above is written a bit short hand as I am on lunch and got to get back to it! Don't take it personally etc, but I'd be well up for debate on this one.
  22. It does speak volumes that there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest, or not a lot of interest at that price tag.
