I'd prefer us not to suddenly start spending big money on 'Billy Big Bollocks'. I think it is totally unnecessary and that particular market is full of mercenary players, agents, clubs...just pure greedy bastards.

We'll stay quiet about our targets and our budget. Because that's the Everton way (just like with the new Moshiri coming in, no one had a clue...and I love that about this club!).

We'll hand pick our targets for the sake of building a better team, not for the sake of just buying a 'name'.

I'd like us to steadily build success rather than buy success over night. That way it leaves a nicer taste.

And yes, I think it increases the pressure on Martinez. Which is a good thing. A bit of pressure does no one any harm and if harnessed in the right way, you'll perform 10 times better.

Newty82 got a reaction from StevO in Blue Bill's shiny new stadium at the docks...
For me, the new stadium should be around 50 - 55,000 max capacity but built in a way that it can be expanded relatively easily. I personally don't believe that we will suddenly double our attendance figures.

Access to the stadium is important. Plenty of parking (underground car park? Multi storey?). Good access roads. And if possible, rail access close by. Bus depot, taxi rank. The lot.

The immediate area around the stadium should be an experience itself. A nice open space, with water features, big screens, up lighting, entertainment, food kiosks, trees/greenery, statues...all sorts of stuff going on.

It should be a multi purpose stadium for concerts, boxing, arts etc.

It should be open enough to be enjoyable on various occasions but closed enough to create a belting intimidating intimate footballing experience that echoes the Grand Old Lady.

And more importantly, it should totally overshadow that shambolic steep sloping pile of pig bollocks currently being built over the other side of Stanley Park.

At the moment, I'm feeling very happy about this.

The bloke has some wealth (I'm not one of these who expects people to waste their own money on a club but he can easily help finance a new stadium, buy Finch Farm etc...win win for him and the club).

He's completely unlike the Americans who were looking to step into footy as first timers. His background at Arsenal fills me with confidence. And he's been sniffing around for a while and learning about the club.

Pleased that Bill will stay for a bit. That's essential for continuity and to allow changes to happen progressively.

I'm hoping this guy will have a clear vision of what he wants to do and having got pissed off with the ownership situation at Arsenal, he'll now unleash here at Everton.

And big credit to Bill for getting this done in the usual 'behind closed doors' Everton way.

The only thing for me just now is the 49.9% thing. From what I know, anymore than this then its compulsory to purchase the rest of the shares so 49.9% tends to be the highest level or 'safe' level to take majority shareholding??? But who's shares have gone and who is still lurking? If it's the Lord and Woods, then no problem.

EDIT: I mean if the Lord and Woods who still have shares then it's no problem!!

If counting the Carlisle game it is.

    Carlisle, Newcastle, Stoke, WBA, Bournemouth.

    F: 11 A: 1

If that can carry on for another 10-15 games...we may be at peace!!!

But you have to think about the holes that are left if you remove these sort of players. You also have to think that the opposing manager won't just stand there thinking 'Oooh look, a nice big gap in their midfield'...they'll exploit it. So then the dynamics of the game change.

You can bring on a couple of extra attacking players in place of a couple of deeper players...but again, you leave a big gap. Not only that but the attacking players all try to occupy the same positions and 'stand on each others toes'. Then because their mindset is to 'attack', the instinct isn't to track back...so the gaps are there to be exploited.

The way we set up pins WBA back. The tactics weren't wrong. You don't get so much possession, shots, corners etc if the tactics are wrong. Everything was there...its upto the players to put the ball in the back of the net...and the tactics enabled them to have 30+ opportunities to do so.

It's just another shit result that this young squad need to learn from. But yeah, said that too often this season!!!

Just touching on what Romey said in the MOTM thread...check out his Squaka page, notice our performance patern last season and this season when he misses spells? Coincidence that our worst form hits when he is missing or an underestimated key component of our team?

He did at times. Some misplaced passes/clearances. Caught ball watching sometimes.

He just needs polishing up. Because he can pick a pass, he knows when to whack it clear, he can bring the ball out comfortably and he throws himself right in there.

Lads lads lads...just for once...let's leave all the 'we should have'...'could have'...'didn't deserve'...stuff to one side and enjoy a pretty faultless 3-0 win, clean sheet, home victory, 3 points, a cheeky very rare dinked penalty, some sublime individual performances.

Bollocks to what the opposition did or didn't do.

Are you kidding? That's way too complicated. You say now whether you like him or not and you stick to it through thick and thin...no ifs, buts, reasoning or evidence can change it. That's the way.

Ha! Chelsea went from winning the league to being beaten game after game...massive difference.

Last season was poor. No one has ever doubted that. This season we were doing fine up until around the beginning of December. We were floating up and around 6th - 9th, with places changing every week. And only a few points away from the golden 4th place.

No doubt about it, December and January have been rough.

It's all about drawing too many rather than being 'out and out' shite. The frustration comes from drawing when we should have won...comes from goals conceded...Martinez will fall on his sword only if we continue conceding daft goals.

That one element makes all the difference.

I'll say what I said (I think) just before Christmas...he still has my support BUT he has to show some intent to sort this goals conceded issue out. In fact, no, not just intent...it had to be sorted. It is going to rip his ball sack off.

I mean, I'm frustrated with him, for sure. Because I'm wanting him to do well. Here, at Everton. Because I believe he will go on to be a top Manager...its whether he'll get the chance/time to do it here?

He is, in Management terms, the equivalent of a Lukaku, Stones, Barkley, Geri. Exciting with plenty to offer but still learning.

He has built a sound squad here, he's instilled some good footballing principles, thete are a lot of plus points. But those results have to improve. The goals conceded have to go down. Otherwise, it won't count for much.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I trust my own.
