His club have shot this down today.

His club have stated they want a fee for the deal , but that was 11 hours ago .

The Sky Sports announcement was only some minutes ago ( time of my thread ) , so perhaps there has been some movement .

Goal.com - One hour ago

Fiorentina could be forced to allow under-fire striker Giampaolo Pazzini to leave on a loan move to Everton until the end of the season.

The Sun claim Everton will change their transfer strategy after they were discouraged by the Viola's high price tag. The hit-man is regarded highly in England following his hat-trick at Wembley with the Italian under-21 side in 2007.

Tofees manager David Moyes has has a headache up front with a number of injuries affecting his side and some new faces are a priority for the club in January. However, it doesn't seem as if Moyes has the funds to stretch towards Pazzini and thus a loan move is likely.

The only problem is that there are several clubs in Serie A which are all interested in the player.

On Monday, it was the Daily Mail who claimed Pazzini to Everton was picking up speed.

However, both papers seem to have missed the fact that striker has always stated his penchant to remain in Italy rather than move to the Premier League. Therefore a move to Everton is unlikely.

"Everton’s hopes of signing Italian striker Giampaolo Pazzini on loan suffered a setback when his Fiorentina team-mate Adrian Mutu dislocated his elbow.

The Romania international will be sidelined for at least a month, lessening the chances of the Serie A side allowing 24-year-old Pazzini to leave during the transfer window."

Age eligibilty is taken from Jan 1st on the first year of a UEFA Under 21 championship competition....

So that (for example) players under 21 on Dec 31st 2006 can play in the finals in 2009, even though some may be twenty-three :) .

(Although that actually doen't explain Pazzini's case, because he was born in 2004 so shouldn't have been eligible in 2007. Maybe different rules for friendlies?)
