Pat
I would be all for something like that, if personal terms were agreable etc. http://sport.independent.co.uk/football/Everton...ticle799487.ece Porto offer Everton McCarthy swap for Van der Meyde By Jason Burt Published: 12 June 2006 Porto hope to interest Everton in a swap deal, with the South African striker Benni McCarthy moving to Goodison Park in exchange for Andy van der Meyde. .............................. Adam
They saying a straight swap as well with no money involved which would be quite good. If VDm does really want to leave then swap him for Benni and then we have back up for the strikers. Then just need to bring in someone to replace VDM may be from the lower leagues at a lower price
Bill
Looks like could be another over the top player, in 3 seasons at Porto he hasnt played a league match, only plays in Euro matches and internationals. Has played 19 games and been used 6 times as sub, and scored 8 goals, but all in other competitions. Very very strange. not played a lot of football in the last 3 seasons. So on that basis he might give us the same amount of games we got from V D Meyde Benni McCarthy Real name Benedict McCarthy Date of birth 12-11-1977 Place of birth International Caps 47 International Goals 21 Current Club Currently playing for Porto Signed on 16-07-2003 Porto playing career Club From.....To.............League........FA Cup.........League cup.......Other Porto 2003---2006..........0 (0) 0.........0 (0) 0............0 (0) 0..........19 (6) 8 Games played by Benni McCarthy in 2005/2006 Goals 07-09-2005 International Germany 4-2 South Africa 1 28-09-2005 European Cup Porto 2-3 Artmedia 0 19-10-2005 European Cup Porto 2-0 Inter 1 01-11-2005 European Cup Inter 2-1 Porto 0 06-12-2005 European Cup Artmedia 0-0 Porto 0 Yellow cards: 0 Red Cards: 0 Goals: 2 Edited June 12, 2006 by toffeelicker

Adam
Is there some thing about only having a certain amount of foreign players over there in league matches?

Bill
^ mmm ^ Could be the answer, but means he is behind all the others for selection, cant be as good as we think he is.
adamsmith69
i would prefer to keep jimmy mac as a backup rather than have benni
GoldfishMemory
I'v never liked McCarthy at all and i'm standing by my earlier statements that Andy Pandy will come good this year. I think all this talk of him wanting a move is manufactured and the problem is with moyes turning his nose up. I know hes been injured for most of his career and all the other stories but we all know IF he plays he is good and thats alot more than standing by players like Bent and McFadden! I still think he is worth as much now as he will be in January and we should keep him until then before shooting the fat arse piss head if he aint performing. My humble opinion as always

Romey 1878
ye but Benni is better than mcfadden remember 30029[/snapback] But McFadden's alot younger remember, he has more time to improve. Benni would come here and sit on his fat arse and do nothing. Id rather have McFadden who can come on and be hungry to get back in the side, but McCarthy would be happy to take his wages for doing fuck all
