Louis Posted May 2, 2014 Report Posted May 2, 2014 http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2014/05/01/dixie-unveiling-on-monday The brand new Dixie Dean Wall of Fame will be unveiled this Bank Holiday Monday – and fans are invited to come along and catch a first glimpse. The launch event will take place at 3pm on Monday 5 May, the anniversary of Dean’s famous 60th league goal in 1927/28, and supporters are welcome to join special guests to see the revamped area at the entrance to Goodison Park. Plans to unveil a new gateway to the stadium were revealed in February and the Dixie Dean statue is the centrepiece of the area. The statue, which was originally unveiled in May 2001, will be surrounded by a commemorative wall made up of engraved stones. http://i.imgur.com/gO8M7sL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/QvbvSLl.jpg What do we think then? It looks pretty good. The new gate is nice with its custom EFC crest at the top and the tower within it. Matt, Ant1979 and Romey 1878 3 Quote
Romey 1878 Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 Looks class, can't wait to see it later. Quote
Lowensda Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 Does look good. For unity though, would have been better if White was the only engraving offering. Quote
Dalziel Kane Posted May 3, 2014 Report Posted May 3, 2014 It's a fine design and would imagine most supporters would instantly take to it. In association with Dean's record achievement, it should be a successful event. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 How long before it's vandalised? The thought had crossed my mind too tbh. Quote
Lowensda Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Went to buy one of the bigger stones today for my dad's birthday, couldn't afford it, so went online, typed out what I wanted (at this point there were 53 left), rang my mum to borrow some cash and by the time i'd taken her details down, they'd sold out I am absolutely gutted. Had to buy a small one (which are shite comparatively). So gutted. Actually feel sick. Been waiting months to buy one Quote
Matt Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 It'll get extended again mate, dont worry Quote
MC11 Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 It'll get extended again mate, dont worry It'll get knocked down soon mate. Don't worry Quote
StevO Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I thought they would have cost more than that! I hope they extend, I'd like one for my Dad too. If we move to a new ground, do they take the gateway? I would hope so. Could take it all the way round then. If it's profitable I'm sure they will keep it going. Quote
StevO Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 Why? Granite will just be bonded to brick, easily removed and refitted elsewhere. If done with care that is. Lowensda 1 Quote
StevO Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Was it 70-400? I think. They've guaranteed them for about ten years haven't they? Says something like that in the FAQ section, so hopefully something would happen with a stadium within ten years. I agree Patto, looks brilliant. That's why I think something like that all the way around a new stadium would look amazing, if the whole thing was lit up, curving around statues of our greatest, just like it is with Dixie. MC11 Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I doubt it will get moved. More like when the Goodison land is sold they may keep it. Quote
