thebluenose
fair enough. but i reckon hes good enough so give him a go alongside lescott (of which we can all agreee on that he is class and warrents his place)
Romey 1878
Are you forgetting we have Joseph Yobo as Lescott's partner in central defence? Hughes is good, but he's not that good
StevO
there is more risk playing a defender than with a striker. but imagine were 2-0 down and moyes brings on Vidarsson, and we concede another couple of goals due to a little lack of experience, would kill the lads confidence, the same with hughes. you bring the young lads in when the pressure is as low as possible, Rooney was the exeption to all the fuckin rules. we treat him like a normal youngster, bring him in slow, goes to united and his talents absolutly sky rocket from playin every game. Romey 1878
Tbh his talents sky rocketted because he had much better players around him
StevO
i recon his talents would have rocketed if he played for Acrinton Stanley must leave this thread, getting upset again
Mac
Because Hughes is a defender though he can be calssed as a kid still because they take longer to mature as players Agree with that Mark, but Yobo for me is still not producing the kind of form expected from an international player. Give him a wake up call, and bench him, give the kid shot at the jersey. ATB Mac
Bill
I agree. Hughes has shown in the appearances he's made, that he is more than capable. Edited December 12, 2006 by Licker
Pat
Dunno if throwing him out against Chelsea is the cleverest as in player development. I would run him out in a less pressure sit. Though we have feck all to loose This weekend really. Perhaps the bit parts will pull 1 out of the hat.
Bill
Yeah, didnt mean to throw him in this weekend, but he is adequate cover for Joey and Joly, so we can remove the wheelchairs of either Wier or Stubbs or both, and pick up another from the Championship. StevO
only lose one of them, but they wont be high earners so they arent much drain on the club if we keep both. there good for the young uns too
