If Felli had done this he'd be getting slated on motd and called dirty on all the football forums. No attempt for the ball, just wants to injure him, should be banned. The 'challenge' on Distin was disgusting as well luckily he escaped without injury. Hopefully Mirallas' isn't anything serious.

Because some people (no names **cough** Zoo) say that bad decisions are what makes football interesting .

i fully agree with that swedish newspaper article - those 4 players can destroy any defense - with Jelly as the cherry on top - my concern is the other half of our midfield not covering enough ground and our defense not operating as a solid unit yet.

    Get a room you two!!

I think take a look at the form we have been in this season, Pienaar and Baines are an unmatched force in the premier league. Two very good and intelligent footballers, playing well together. And we seem to be doing pretty well from it, as we speak we are 4th in the table. They cant be that shit.

But I do hear that we carry Neville, and I guess its feasable we could carry Pienaar too. So the other 9 players must be immense!

We don't always get our player appraisals correct, mine regarding fellaini early on was a bit off (however I did think his performances were a fair distance off what we got to eventually see)

Sometimes listening to seasoned pros and ex pros tells you all you need to know. Pienaar is a fantastic player, a proper footballer.

did Pienaar get into the Dream Team this season with a lucky draw ? He is not the best in the leauge but there are more players worse than him in Everton than better - we are going to miss him on Saturday - who is going to fill his shoes?

I think we should sell Pienaar and get Bily back...

Seriously, there is absolutely no doubting pienaars quality from his intelligence, skill, tenacity, desire to win. He and Baines have an understanding and there is no price you can put on that. Gary Neville recently stated that plaing against those two made him realise he was no longer up to the standard he set himself.

The amount of goals pienaar is involved in is ridiculous. Sadly some people look at opta stats for assists and they don't tell the real picture, how many times does pienaar drag defenders away with clever runs to allow the likes of baines to attack the box and play 1-2's. Pienaar so often places himself as the "wall" for players to make give and go's,

Baines has no way near the confidence in the likes of anichebe when he is in the channels, he knows there is a risk that possession may be conceded, whereas pienaars ball retention is absolutely brilliant.

PeteO I honestly wasnt trying to strir, everybody in here knows u dont rate him so there is nothing to stir. I am just trying to understand you and Im glad you threw that old nutmeg in because it highlights the point. IMO since he has been back he has played as well as anybody and has proved himself to be an integral part of the team and I had hoped you had recognised this

Clearly you think we wont miss him, I beg to differ!

I have had a few beers and I am trying my hardest not to be inflammatory so I wont even go there with the red card waiting to happen/ dirtiest player "stuff" (wanted to say bollocks really!)

In summary you think he is talentless, volatile and dirty. Just wondering if you also think he is 8 foot tall, white and has a squeeky voice?

Baines was still one of out better performers in the first half of last season without Pienaar. However, I do agree that they are both better when they play as a pair as opposed to when they play individually.

Read my last post on this thread - Baines and Pienaar - take one away and the other will fade. Where was Bainsy after Pienaar left the scene - nowhere to be seen.Pienaar is one the hardest working midfielders in the leauge - we are going to miss him for sure - especially Baines.

Hello all - i am a 53 year old male from Malmesbury South Africa. My 16 year old son rekindled my interest in the game and we are both Everton supporters.
Neither of us have played the game but we prefer it to rugby. What i like most about Everton is their character and attitude towards the game - they play hard but fair without too many stars or drama queens and with a relatively small budget.
The team spirit seems to be good and there ain't too many weird okes in the side with exessive tattoos and way out hairstyles.
I am a staunch supporter of fair play and i just love supporting the underdog because in a dogfight it is not the size of the dog that matters but rather the size of the fight in the dog!
Everton can now concentrate on the league and hopefully we have had our share of bad refs for the season, so we can end in the top 4 - would't it be just wonderfull!
English is also my second language - so sometimes it is difficult to express myself .
Look forward to talking to and with you Evertonians.

i found the decisionmaking around the taking of the penalty in the Wigan game a bit disorganized.Mirallas clearly wanted to take it but it seems as though Pienaar decided Baines was our man - where was the captain in all of this? i have noticed nothing serious amongst the players, but the point is that players who get along well with each other have a better team spirit and play for the team instead of for themselves - Baines and Pienaar is a case in point. Lets hope Moys can keep the boys together and keep the team spirit very positive - in any team sport power lies in unity more so than in talent -

I think if you watch, there are a few players in the team that i don't think get on with each other, but aslong as Moyes gets them playing as a team that's the important bit.

Goal line technology is but one area of concern.

What about the red / yellow card issue, the penalty, the dive, the racial abuse, the offside, injury time, the dangerous foul and so on?

Dalziel to say we should keep on doing it cause it worked for my grandfather would have kept us stuck in the dark ages. They simply did not have the technology available in the old days.I would like to see the uproar if these horrific decisions start going against the M Uniteds and Chelseas of the world and it leads to them not winning the league or missing out on Europe. But us minows must always bear the brunt of what i call blatant manipulation.Everton will probably be given their 4 points back when they are no longer a threat for the big 5 going to Europe. Two wrongs have NEVER made one right. To allow an outdated system to influence the outcome of games is just short sighted and leaves us with more questions than answers.Debate should be stimulated by facts and not speculation.

Don't see why it shouldn't be brought in. Technology is copping a bit of criticism in the Rugby League here in Aus because it slows up games and is somewhat taking away that authority and tradition of the referee that you mentioned in the video, but I think the general consensus is that there would be much more of an uproar should teams be robbed of a win because of human error judging something like grounding the ball.

There wouldn't be such a disruption in play for soccer because it's quite simply a goal or not, and effective technology would pick that instantly. Same goes for offsides.

Can someone fill me in on why it hasn't been brought in already? Has there been any statements from the FA or anything?

I also strongly support retrospective banning for clear diving and the introduction of technology to prevent sides like Everton always drawing the short end of the stick - totally inconsistant with the law of averages.American football has introduced technology very successfully which promotes fair results and prevents manipulation and match fixing with all the betting going around. We are afterall expecting a fair contest and not a circus like WWF wrestling. We as the consumers must make our demands clear - we can not allow the money people to protect their interests through a system which is highly manipulateable
and completely outdated and belonging to the amateur age when winning was not the be all and end all.
