A few pictures of the Bernabeu tour I did yesterday....scared the shite out of me to start with because the first thing they do is take you up to the top level on the outside of the stadium in a glass elevator....and I'm not good at heights. Impressive place. "Talked" to couple of Brazilians before I went in, mostly sign language, but one of them was a Fluminense supporter (the other was Corinthians). He knew Everton was in Liverpool (which I was quite impressed with) and kept going on about "Welfare." I don't think it's a joke (although he is), none of the people he's with are "joke" dressed. Reckon some fashion guru has told him it's cool and he's too impressionable (or stupid) to think for himself. Players at his level live in a bubble, normal rules of sanity don't apply.

Absolutely. It's a play-off that we have to win to qualify for the group stage....doesn't really matter what UEFA (or we) call it . Two legs, 20th & 27th after our opening league game on 15th (16th if Sky pick it for Sunday....or are all the opening games on the Saturday?). (Is it just me that thinks this is the most pointless poll ever? It's random....it's the TT equivalent of S*n Bingo....and we've got more votes than a lot of MOTM polls :worried: . Strange.)

Just struck me that, although we're saying Pienaar only won it because Jags got injured and missed the last five games, Pienaar missed the start of the season through injury. Checking the stats Jags actually played 42 games over the season (plus one as sub) against Pienaar's 33 (+2).

It's an option. I wouldn't go for it because, at its extreme, someone who came second or third in the voting every game over the season would come nowhere, when they'd probably deserve to win it. Like I said, that system this season would have given us Fellaini when very few think that'd be the right result.

Think that's on the right lines, but ten players getting votes is too many imo. You often get a clear winner with then a number of other players getting 1,2 or 3 votes (eg West Brom last August, Osman 12, Arteta 3, Yakubu 2, Vaughan 2, Howard 1, Neville 1, Baxter 1, Yobo 1, Jags 1), difficult then to distribute properly. Maybe the top four getting 5, 3, 2, 1? But then that's getting close to the 3,2,1 that we ditched because it didn't seem to be working .

Looking at the highlights of the game after seeing the members of the squad getting given winners medals something struck me which hadn't before. Some of the defending in that game was complete shite. The first three goals are all down to pitiful defending (notably from Ray Wilson for Germany's opener) and the fourth was a goalmouth scramble which we should have cleared. Funny how history works. If we'd have lost the defence would have been ripped to pieces for years .
