  1. wigan had a great season last year, i really can't see them not surviving, even if they dont do as well. but reading havent really strengthened their squad and thats significant.
  2. hibbo's important to the defense. not a lot gets past him. he had a hernia op at the end of last season and maybe he didnt take enough time to get over it. anyway it looks like he may miss the season opener and maybe more, but if it helps get him back to 100% fitness, it'll be worth it in the long run.
  3. tommy grav was a great holding midfielder and if we could get him for about what we sold him that would be great. but if the price is silly, well, lets face it he's got maybe 2 or 3 seasons at the top and we are well stocked in midfield.
  4. i'd like to see grav back but only if the price was about what we paid for him. he's gotta 2 maybe 3 good seasons ahead of him and he was a real asset to the club.
  5. an Everton fan... i think mark put it best: "Sticking by Everton through thick and thin is what makes you a proper fan, you dont turn on them when things are bad if anything you support them more fiercely." i think you could add, especially when the board and the management are honestly trying hard to improve the quality of the side!
  6. whoever he is its good to see the academy doing its job. its now got great new facilities at halewood. http://www.evertonfc.com/academy/the-new-academy.html
  7. a takeover is really a matter of money. its that simple. if someone offers enough they will get the club. no-one has come up with enough to make BK want to part with the club. thats an indication of his committment. i think thats important. there is now more interest from overseas in investing in english football. the world cup has stirred interest in the usa. i'm not sure that its in the best interests of the club to be taken over by someone who really only uderstands accounts rather than football. given that choice i would stick with what weve got.
  8. "The under 15s are one match away from winning the english part of the nike cup. They won their semi today and play arsenal tomorrow in the final. If they win they then they will fly to rio and take part in the worldwide tournament against the best U-15's sides in the world including the likes of Inter Milan. And of course the top scorer in the tournament so far is the one...the only....JOSE BAXTER! 'This lad is mustard. Really good'. 'Remember lads, 1 Evertonian is worth 20 Liverpudlians' R.I.P Brian Labone" googled from http://www.sportnetwork.net/boards/read/s4...&t=2128&sid=481 he's listed here as an under 12! http://www.toffeeweb.com/season/03-04/academy.asp
  9. are watford, reading & sheffield utd the weakest links? out of the rest i fancy fulham to take a fall.
  10. i think that ferguson is losing his touch. carrick is good, but he isnt that good. some of the manpower problems that manu are facing are down to fergies managerial style. one bad season at manu and its bye bye fergie.
  11. yes, expectations and optimism are at a high among most evertonians this year. weve got some great signings and the team is looking stronger and better balanced than it has for years. let the games begin.
  12. after the celtic game i thought that anichebe was a great prospect. he's got all the qualities to be a great centre forward. he'll have to work hard to break into a side with aj and bt but i wouldnt be surprised to see him do it.
  13. top 8 would be a good finish, top six is do-able. the top 4 spots are probably spoken for but we have as much chance as any for the rest.
  14. weve gotta pretty strong midfield now and bearing in mind his age i think carsley would be a benchwarmer. youve got osman, vdm, cahill, arteta, davies, kilbane, neville. not a bad choice. i dont really see carsley getting much action with that lot around.
  15. according to the mirror carsley is going to wolves. who else are we looking to get rid of while the transfer window is open? and who are we hoping to get.
  16. the article states that a bid will/may be made before the start of the season. so the boards denial doesnt mean that there isnt an interested party. it also states that a bid of 80 mill., values Everton at 40 mill., because we have about 40 mill., in debt. its reasonable to assume that there are people interested. we know that villa have been approached and i suspect that Everton are a much better buy than villa any day of the week. the glazers manu grab doesnt seem to have led to any serious fan fallout, so an american buyer may not be too bad, even tho they dont understand the game. any negotiations will be strictly confidential so we wont hear anything until its all done and dusted. give it a fortnight!
  17. seeing old women falling over is funny... time for a little therapy methinks!
  18. rooney is a thicko being handled by greedy pr men. theyre turnining him into tabloid trash for money. if he had half a brain he wouldnt be used this way.
  19. mindless support is no more use than brainless criticism. youve got to be able to see the potential as well as the problems. some 'fans' focus too much on the latter. an overdose of optimism wont do much good but neither will deliberately ignoring the promise and focusing on the downside.
  20. lescott looked pretty good as well. i reckon that with him and yobo at the back we should have a pretty firm defence. anichebe was impressive. he's young and onlyon the fringes of the first team but he looks promising. its good to see some of the academy lads coming thru. i just hope that vaughn gets over his knee repair. a promising youngster whose gonna need a lot of determination to get back to full fitness and into the side.
  21. im all for Everton, but red for baseball YOU MEAN ROUNDERS? ONLY GIRLS PLAY THAT STUPID GAME. ITS EVEN MORE BORING THAN CRICKET, IF THATS POSSIBLE!
  22. we had a few spells were we did take control and looked alright but lacked any sort of creativity, what a brainless wanker!
  23. his behaviour was immature and dumb. hopefully he's grown up a little since, but we were well rid of that piece of tabloid trash, for the reported 27 mill.
  24. missed the start of the second half, so must try to catch the highlights. overall a promising performance against one of europes top sides.
