  1. I don't think we would. If he was at another team would we pay £30m+ for him?

There aren't that many sides out there who can afford to pay it, even less than can afford it and he would improve their side.

don't think premier league man, remember he's belgian not english so playing elsewhere is fine with him. Wolfsburg would gladly pay, so would atletico, and after the immobile disaster i'd imagine dortmund would be in the mix as well. he'd go easy for that much if we put him in the window for sale.

  2. We'd definitely need some inspiring signings to go with. Those signings (for the most part) would be squad fillers and not first team starters IMO.

Ever with Gerry, we'd need a top drawer Playmaker, another Winger and Defensive Mid. Evans could be back-up CB, Lennon and Gerry interchangeable RW's, Tom for his versatility.

defensive mid? what you smoking J. we have mccarthy, besic, barry, gibson. no need mate, that's the one position we are well stocked at. Playmaker, winger i'm with, and a centre back, but no defensive mid man.

  3. Zelalem looked really good in that last game. I'm excited to see what type of player he'll turn out to be.

I'm thinking the women will go all the way this year.

Agree to both. I really hope they get a favorable draw in the knockout round.

U23 are in the playoff for the 3rd place match. Play either Mexico, England, or someone else.

  4.

I don't believe that FIFA rigged the match (just a dreadful decision by the ref which happens) but I do believe they got the result they wanted so "encouraged" the FAI to drop their legal threat (which was never going to be successful anyway). The FAI took a pragmatic approach; they were never going to get the game replayed or get a place at the finals so took the money on offer.

The choice was would you like $5m or not? Could be described as "compensation" for an unjust but irreparable situation I suppose, possibly FIFA should actually get some credit for it.

spot on. I saw it as actually FIFA having a conscious. Sure they got the result they wanted, but felt that Ireland were screwed over and tried to compensate. 5m back then was a decent sum, their kits have been looking better recently :67:

  5. fact is if we didn't have rom we'd be playing in the championship. so for all the bitching and complaining a whole lot of you do, send him a thank you note why don't ya. i'd love to see him sold and us bottom table with the whole lot of you shitting yourselves with naisy and kone trying to hold the line. you'd be begging for rom back in an instant.

i thought he should have won player of the year.

  6. This extra money is obviously being used up elsewhere already or we'd not be crying poverty this summer.

exactly. and the arsenal owner is super rich and owns other sports teams (he knows how to run them), he has a competent board and CEO to run things. they run a tight ship over there, that is not so much the case here unfortunately.

  7. The only problem I have with the Qatar one being revoked is that all those people will have died for even less of a reason.

matt i've thought about that too. and i'm worried all the workers won't be paid and will have to find a way back home with having worked for years and not compensated. FIFA needs to start a committee to right the wrongs done over there if they do move it, they need to pay those people and jail the contractors.

  8.

    And admissions starting to surface?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/32998735

Mr Blazer says: "Beginning in or around 2004 and continuing through 2011, I and others on the Fifa executive committee agreed to accept bribes in conjunction with the selection of South Africa as the host nation for the 2010 World Cup."

He adds: "I and others agreed to accept bribes and kickbacks in conjunction with the broadcast and other rights to the 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 Gold Cups (the regional championship for national teams)."

yes i just saw this, its all starting to come out. i'm sure it's going to be a shitstorm for a couple months and a bunch more people will step down and then hopefully it will become a decent organization.

  9. Can we not loan him out at Premier League level?

his last loan at wigan in the championship he only started 3 matches, so i think he will start immediately now for a championship side, whereas in the premier league at CB or RB i don't think he's ready yet. i think the first team talk is just off the bench for the second half of the year.

  10. i'd say 60 sessions they should be fit, sounds like "2 a days" we had in high school. practice in the morning, scrimmage in the afternoon. was absolutely brutal in the heat, but i got in to shape real quick.

glad to hear this, i'm really looking forward to next campaign.

  11. U-20 world cup going on right now, we are kicking ass. won the first match 1-0 against myanmar and won the second 4-0 against new zealand. already through to the next round, i'd still like to beat or draw ukraine to win the group.

U-23 is in the Toulon Tourney. Lost first match to costa rica 2-1, won second match 1-0 over qatar with a really nice goal from julian green.

women about to destroy all in the WC in a few days as well, we and germany are the favorites.

  12. I hope it's Prince Ali. He's the only person who stood for election who looked and acted professionally. He clearly doesn't need the money, so bribes and bungs are a waste of time. And he looked like he had the backing of the bigger footballing nations.

spot on. his being independently weathly is a huge plus for me, like you said he doesn't need or want bribes. and he's been an administrator before so he's not new.

platini odds on favorite now, but i don't see it happening. all the other confederations don't want more power in europe, in fact they want less and less teams in the WC from them (don't agree with that, but it's their stance).

    i've also seen this. http://www.espnfc.us/fifa-world-cup/story/2477117/2022-world-cup-could-go-to-us-if-there-is-a-revote-dyke

surely its dyke trying to get concacaf behind him, although it would be nice to have the cup here. i'd have to sell a kidney to be able to afford a match, but my son would be 8 by then, it would be magical.

  13.

I remember saying I'd eat the bricks of my house if we signed Moutinho I was that confident it was never happening. I have a bit more confidence in this one actually happening.

lol as do i. he's out of favor in sevilla and barca doesn't need him. the only forward that gets action is pedro and gerry isn't going to see time over him. he's surplus now that MSN is unstoppable. I think this will happen, and i hope it does.
