  1. Seriously, it may hurt now, but in the long run people will look back on windows like this and highlight the utter crap that was transferred for mega money.
  2. Add to this that you cannot talk directly to the player until you have clubs permission. The way this unfolded seem to be with only a few hours left in the window. 1) Sissoko agent contacts Everton and outlines the deal needed to close quickly. 2) Outlines Personal Terms (probably what was already agreed with Spurs) and is probably agreed first. 3) Transfer fee was the Issue as Spurs will not offer £30m needed, so Everton you will need to contact Mr. Ashley (or whoever) and state you agree to the fee. 4) Once you've agreed with Mr. Ashley let me know and I'll give you Mr. Sissoko's phone number for you to talk directly. In the meantime Spurs have been back in touch to say don't sign anything we going to agree the fee. Personally I don't think any negotiating professional would have avoided this. The 2 outcomes regardless would have been either. 1) Say "not interested" and either Sissoko would still be at NUFC or at Spurs for less than £30m 2) Get Involved and Spurs cave in to pay the full £30m To be honest I'm happy we got involved as we got a Peer football club to pay more than they wanted to for a player. That gives them less money to spend because of us! That's still a win in my book! That and I think we can spend £30m more wisely.
  3. It's early days guys. It's been a difficult window with inflated prices all round. In the light of day, I'm ok with us not spending big this window, with the proviso being that we do eventually spend big in either Jan or next summer and we get our top targets, not what is left over. It's Valencia I'm not happy with. It's a middle of the road buy that's not an improvement on the existing squad members. It seems to me its a buy to make sure we have some over up front. I'd rather bring in an untested youngster personally. For the Jan window to be successful we have to be Top 6 at the end of the year and looking good for Europe otherwise it'll be more of the same. I don;t think you can judge Steve Walsh on this window. He's not had enough time to get his feet under the desk and if he didn't have some kind of restriction (probably period of time related) in his contract on transfer targets he'd already identified at Leicester I'd be shocked. Time will tell and lets see where we are at Christmas. That will ultimately show how this window has impacted us.
  4. I was hoping nobody would start a thread just as a sign of how "meh" the signing is.
  5. FFS. McGeady MkII. Panic buy if ever there was one.
  6. I'd rather we buy no one at all then get Valencia. He quite clearly isn't going to a first team winger regular. Not so bothered about Sissoko either. If it's crap window then it is what it is. Move on and save the money to go at it January when we can reset and go for proper mainstream targets, not our 6th or 7th choices.
  7. Need an extra crowd Steward for the next home match?
  8. Translation of tweet below. OFFICIAL : Yacine Brahimi new player leaves the club Everton for £ 34M . Good luck.
  9. Shhhh.... If Wilshere reads this he'll be requesting a move to us!
  10. Do we have so much money splashing around that we can afford a friend to keep Gibson company in the Physio room?
  11. And so he should. If only the senior team was selected on the same basis of form rather than manager favourites we would be doing a lot better with the senior team!
  12. I think Begovic is RK's target. Chelsea have just signed a new keeper too.
  13. You are sentenced to keyword search the forum with the word "lukaku" and read back every single post individually until dead
  14. If he's trying to keep anywhere near his £130k a week wages then Harte is not going anywhere other than the usual big team, take the money and never play again club. Current Members, Remy, Bony, Schweinsteiger, etc. If you want to play regularly, lower your wage expectations and extend your football career or grow fat and end your career. That's the way it works.
  15. I'd wait till the end of the window before outliing this. We have also freed up wages from 5 senior players moving on (Osman, Hibbert, Pienar, Howard and Stones). If we can get the right players I think we'll get another 2 or 3 in before the window closes. I'm less bothered about how much we spend and much more bothered about the players themselves.
  16. He'd be gutted. He would have to spend most the day lying on the floor.
  17. What is his main position. At Newcastle I saw him play on both wings, across most of the midfield. For France he was 1 of 3 Central Midfielders wasn't he? I don't see him as a DCM or a No.10 behind the striker so would that mean us looking to play a back 4, 1 DCM, 2CM, 2wingers and a Striker?
  18. I quite like Sissoko as a player, I just don;t quite understand where we would play him in our typical formations?
  19. Let's hope not... http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/16/liverpool-reject-fresh-bid-from-crystal-palace-for-striker-christian-benteke-6070831/ http://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-installed-as-favourites-to-sign-liverpool-senior-player-report/ Personally as a club I think it benefits us more to have him suck wages out of them along with Balotelli rather than help them with cash and reducing their wage bill to buy a better player in.
  20. No Tom Cleverley? Garbutt didn't even get a squad number so I would remove him as unlikely to be in Koeman's plans. I thought Davies had been playing mainly ACM in pre-season? I would include Besic (even though Injured) and probably the same for Browning.
  21. Blows too hot and cold for me. He has slightly more than the odd great game, but some games I haven't even noticed he's on the pitch until halftime. We have to be able to do better.
  22. Yup. But when you get it wrong you massively get it wrong and you can never get rid because of the high wages or they get injured all the time... Adebayor, If anyone buys Lukaku for £75m, Torres, Carol
