  1. All in all, a good draw for us but it sounds like Michu will be healthy by then, should they decide to play him. Arsenal-Liverpool, Man City-Chelsea...it's fixed I tell ya.
  2. This is devasting across the board. A real fine player and the timing couldn't be worse with respect to club and country. I'm really disheartened by this. Here's to hoping for the best of recoveries.
  3. A good (and expected) result tempered by a really horrific injury.
  4. Yeah, looks like he snapped the lower tibia and fibula...that's real bad. I'm am heartbroken for the guy.
  5. Re Oviedo: seems like he took a full kick to the back/side of the ankle when he attempting to disrupt the strike by the Stevenage midfielder...is this what others saw?
  6. Very keen to see what McGeady will do. An interesting line up for sure; and I can actually watch the game over here!
  7. I'm aware the injury has been discussed, I just hadn't heard of any official talk of a timeline until today. I was under the impression that the injury was minor but if RM says he'll only play in the last 9-10 games of the season, then we are talking 5 weeks out. That's a long time for a January signing.
  8. Yeah, Everton TV is where I saw RM mention that Lacina will only be in the last 9-10 games. Though on re-watching it, it's a bit unclear, as he states Lacina is "weeks" away from playing, and then says he won't be "influential" or have an impact until the last 9-10 games. I'm not sure if this means he won't be playing until the last 9-10 games of the the season or he will make an appearence prior to that but it will be very minimal. Either way, it doesn't seem like he'll take part in the key match-up against the Spurs in mid-February.
  9. Good to see they sealed the deal. RM said Lacina is likely to play the last 9-10 games of the season...he's "weeks" away from playing due to his injury. Bummer...I was hoping to see this giant play straight away.
  10. Most recently, I'm listening to the new album by Daft Punk. I've also been visiting subnav.com Lots of free mixes uploaded there, and some of them are quite good. It's takes a bit of searching. Check out "sunny side up mix" by Johnson and Johnson...good stuff!
  11. Distin is injured, yes? This is according to the Everton website. With all these injuries and the subsequent game, I hope to see some new folks play more including McGeady and Alcaraz.
  12. Lifelong Chicago Bears fan, but lately I've been more sensitive to and increasingly frustrated with how little play time is actually involved. Over the course of 3.5 hours, if you actually use a stopwatch to time how much the ball is in play (from snap to down, or kick to down) it is about 15 minutes...the rest is time outs, respotting the ball, huddle+playcalls at the line of scrimage, TV time outs, offensive/defensive/special teams changes, etc. I find it difficult to carve out 3 hours for so little return. I guess I much prefer the continuous play of soccer (football). Given that, I still will catch a game from time to time and this year's superbowl--Broncos/Seattle--looks like it could be good. Thank god for DVR so I can fast-forward through those way-over-hyped commercials...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
  13. Ugly second half...way out-played. McGeady had a few good touches for the 5 minutes he was on, but apart from that it was pretty sluggish. We desperately needed some transition-play, too much of that long-ball stuff. And we didn't look good when pressured at the back.
  14. All in all, looks like a good signing...but admittedly, I only base this on a few youtube clips. I hadn't heard of the guy until I saw an article in The Guardian. 6'8"...Wow, that'll shake things up in the box.
  15. Singled-out for criticism or not, seems like a shame either way as Zaha is pretty talented and for Moyes to not take the time to figure out how to nurture that talent seems a bit wasteful. Who knows what makes a player "work"...but for Moyes (this season at least) it looks like his bar is "score two goals in starting debut" (e.g., Januzaj) or sit on the bench.
  16. Good for AVFC...they played hard but got shafted by well-rehearsed thespian antics.
  17. So strange, the habits of billionaires...I don't mind if they take over teams if they love the game and love the team, but if it's just for prestige purposes (kinda like us common-folks owning a Rolex), then it's a bad idea. And it is also seems like a bad idea if they solely acquire the team in order to make a profit--often there are way too many vagaries to have an immediate return. Is this guy a fan of the game or was he just at coffee with a bunch of other billionaires and they all started talking about their football clubs and he felt left out. Or maybe I'm just jealous and feel like casting aspersions.
  18. Welcome. I'm new here myself. A funny and knowledgable lot, these folks are.
