Perhaps but if I’m a the manager of an average team with 1 world class player that happens to be a striker and I’m not setting the team up to best use his attributes then that’s the real problem in my opinion. Reminds me of us under Koeman when we were loads and loads of reds. Strange

I think the size of the task ahead of him is just being realised and is perhaps yet to be realised by their fans. They are no longer a top 4 team - sometimes you think a team is 2/3 players away from challenging, I think they are (loss of) 2/3 players from really, really struggling.

That’s my point more so. I’m never going to say Arteta wasn’t good - I only ever got his name on my shirts and he was without a doubt my favourite player ( well above cahill ).

Personally I think it’s good we can have a debate about our first choice keeper. For far too long we’ve had rubbish back ups. One thing I’m sure everyone can agree on is Olsen is an excellent no.2 keeper if that’s to be his role. I am near on certain we will see Pickford go onto a higher level of performance.

I don’t think any one would change the backline if it wasn’t the busy December period and fatigue management is required. I’m sure Carlo has a plan though, he can see the players day in day out however we looked leggy against Leicester.

Think their recruiting has been largely poor for a long time. Back to when they bought Arteta off us is when it began in my opinion - I love Arteta but he wasn’t fantastic when we sold him and I thought it was strange a “top 4” team was after him at that age & level of performances. An injury to Auba and they are done.

Two teams in pretty similar spots last year when new managers came in. Looks like we’ve progressed however they have won a trophy. Strange but I’d probably rather be in our position than theres, despite our wait for a trophy.

Could never figure him out to be honest. Some games he could walk through players like berbatov, like they weren’t there. Next games he looked slow and lethargic. Such a talent though and hopefully he gets it sorted wherever he ends up

I think Schmiechel made a world class save for the second and is absolutely not at fault. As for the first - pickfords been beaten like that before ( Bruno Fernandes last year ). In saying that - I think pickford was rested because he may have had a thigh niggle? Olsen’s showed to be a capable deputy, Pickford is Carlo’s no.1. Pickford at his best is better than Olsen at his best however I think this competition will get Pickford playing at a higher level more consistently.

Yeah I think we might need some rotation. Might be a bit harsh to say but our back 4 aren’t covering loads of ground so they may be okay. Last thing we need is an injury to Doucoure, DCL or Richy.

He’s not as useless in defence as he is made out to be. As I mentioned above though, he just need to cut passing lanes and press with the other midfielders. If he can’t or won’t manage that then he shouldn’t be here.
