If we play wingbacks, we need wingbacks with energy to get up and down - who are left footed on the left hand side and right footed on the right hand side so they can cross. Iwobi is wasted so much on the left as a wing back. I’d understand Kenny more then Iwobi there because he’s atleast defensively minded because once you put a right footed out their you lose any attacking threat they may offer - especially when our striker is feeding off balls in the area. I’ve really no confidence in what ever back line we put out now to be honest.

He got caught on the ball a few times but he’s definitely capable of spreading the play. I’m just hoping he will add another physical presence, with himself, Allan and Doucoure I can’t think of many more physical and athletic midfields. I don’t think Allan is a holding midfielder so much, he’s just an all action, high energy player. His heat map would be literally everywhere, similar to the Kante/Gana even Ndidi types. He breaks up so much play but he doesn’t just sit in front the of the back looking at horizontal lines. I think if he played on that manner he wouldn’t be as effective. I agree with that but I wouldn’t be surprised if Allan covers the most area each game. Absolute workhorse - epitomises Everton in my opinion!

He’s certainly athletic enough but I think he’s better on the ball than some may think. I think he’s going to complete our midfield, I really think before injuries he could have been some player so I really hope there’s no long term damage to him. Allan isn’t a sitter - he’s all energy and along with Doucoure they need to hassle opponents into surrendering the ball. We really can’t rush him and need Gomes to step up.

If we play a flat 4 and he brings Niels in - I’ll seriously have some questions over Carlo. From what we’ve seen he is suited to a LWB. It offers him more protection defensively and his primary job is energy up and down the line. I can’t believe we played Delph as a LWB before a 20 year old who’s been impressive nearly every time he’s played.

I do think most our South Americans have struggled since the international breaks. Only highlights how ridiculous it is to have them during this season. Surely there’s another more logical option.

Agree on the first part completely. Congestion over Christmas and perfect games to bed him in and get him some experience, especially against burnley. He’s done nothing wrong when he’s played so I can’t understand it. I would, the chance wood got one on one was because let him dominate him and run off him. Slow to close for the goal as well. He is giving away a clear chance every game. I’ve made no secret I don’t rate him, he looked to have turned a corner at the start of the season but I think he’s been absolutely shit house since the first international break. Mina not much better but I thought he was solid against Burnley. I’m pissed off at the 2 of them, we are screaming out for one of them to step up and be the man but neither seemed interested.

This could be a blood bath. If neils hasn’t played the last 2 I can’t see him playing here. I actually can’t pick a team and feel comfortable at all. Holgate and Mina as CB with iwobi and Godfrey I guess. Gomes, Allan and Doucoure. James DCL and Richarlison. Cliche but early goal is crucial here.

Pickford for me. Without that save we dont get a point and our season could spiral worse. Thought Mina was good, although i missed the first 35 minutes. Notcied after Woods chance (pickfords save) that Mina seemed to be picking him up and winning, some good last ditch tackles. Doucoure was good. James could have had a goal and should have had an assist from Gylfi so cant complain. Iwobi - unlucky at the end with some poor crosses but in general he was excellent with delivery. Defense needs sorting. Carlo needs to get control of this. How the fuck he selected Delph is what concerns me, we can all see it, other teams can see it so why.

I know it’s a bit of a cop out stat but I think he’s leading Europe for “second assists”. He finds the right pass often. Defensively though, I don’t need to see him snapping into challenges, an extra 10% on cutting down passing lanes and that would make a massive difference. Expect a big game from him against Burnley though.

It’s wrong though from the media. Still when I google Everton it comes up with keeper who ended VVD season gets away with another horror tackle ( Maguire ). Absolutely disgusting the freedom the media have to slander and create an agenda against individuals.

Not comfortable with kenny only because I think Burnley will be looking for goals from set pieces and holgates a great defender to cover james. Iwobi deserves a run out and can over lap james, would contest the left hand side if he was over there.

If we get him hopefully he is more Digne than Mina.

Agreed. Allan is everything Delph thinks he is but he offers nothing, at all. I really hope Gbamin is a decent player and forces him out of the squad.

Formation has been needs must situation in my opinion. Both our starting fullbacks out at once. Do that to liverpool and they will struggle as well. Lets not jump down Doucoures throat. Won the game last week with his goal. Knows he should have scored today as well but he’s in the right areas. He works damn hard and both him and Allan are struggling with the 2 man midfield which is understandable.

I hold my hand up as I high as I can. I believed he could cover a few roles and be an asset but fuck me Davies and Iwobi out shone him playing as a wing back. Fucks me off the arrogance he walks around with though.
