You suffer from the Dunning–Kruger effect.

Did your psychiatrist explain that to you as your over use of it suggests you’ve recently been enlightened to this and are now thinking you sound intelligent by spouting utter shite.

take your meds John put your train set back in the cupboard before someone de-rails this thread.

True but they were brought into the academy for small fees which is essentially the same thing. We buy a lot of young players in the hope that one or two make it big as well as some of local lads. The more players we have making that transition from academy to first team both makes and saves money and also enhances our profile to other talented kids in Europe. It won't guarantee us success but it can help fill the gaps (ie Kenny), it can lead to top quality players (Stones, Barkley), decent ones (Davies) and those that can find a home in the lower leagues with sell on fees.

Of course it can and I’m not saying for a second we should sell outlr young players. My original point was someone ( can’t even remember who now) was talking like our acadamy is chrning out top class talent when in fact it’s not. Southamptons did for a while United hit the jackpot at one stage but other than Rooney we’ve not really had anyone through. Even the players we’ve bought, whilst I admit are atill only young are not going to be top class players and the odd.couple who broke into the first team ( Stones and Barkley) both wanted out at the very first opportunity they got of a top 6 club wanting them.

Well apart from the fact that we have five members of the only England youth side ever to win a world Cup, plus Davies. So you could say it is a policy that is just on the verge of bearing fruit.

Quite honestly if Allardyce stays and we do end up selling a load of our most promising kids this summer, I will never forgive him, Walsh, Moshiri or the board. We have absolutely no chance of buying our way to the top, the only realistic chance this club has of moving forward is developing and buying highly talented kids a) so they make our first team more competitive and b) so we can sell some for enormous profits, like we did with Stones, and develop financially that way. The work Moyes and then Martinez did establishing the youth set up we have now was exactly the right strategy for a club in our position, proven countless times over by examples from all over the world. To let this useless fat cunt wade in and tear it all to shreds because they are not physically up to playing his despicable brand of 4-5-1 anti-football, and he doesn't have it in him to coach them how, would be nothing short of a betrayal of this great club.

This is serious shit we face. Like with Johnson, the damage these picks are doing will not go away over night, it will set us back 10 years.

Some of those never came through the acadamy though Nogs- they were brought in.

Compare our youth to all other premiership teams and we are one of the better sides for giving youth a chance....

Holgate, Kenny, beningame, Davies, DCL, have all been getting chances.  They may not be at high levels yet but they do get a chance.

Allardyce is highly reluctant to use/develop youth.  In his managerial career his forte has been footballers at the end of their careers.

Holgate and DCL never come through our acadamy which was what I was talking about.
