Pad you got the number for the Samaritans, because if things weren’t bad enough you’ve just made me want to kill my self.

    Cheers 🍻

In all seriousness, it absolutely highlights the gulf in class of the two set ups. We laugh when Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho go but in reality they have made massive profits on them- why aren’t we spotting players like this, why do their scouting network keep finding players like this- ok they move on but 8mil for Coutinho to sell him for over a hundred!!! Even the way they get deals done- breaks on Sky they are in for Alliaon, he’s signed the next morning. We are utterly light years behind them in every single way. We were close to them a while back, finishing above them now we are in a different universe to them and the ironic thing is we’ve spent more money now to be this far behind that we didcwjen we were competing with them. It makes me feel sick.

How difficult is it.....  if a ball comes into the area you head clear, if someone runs at you one on one you put in a tackle or block a shot,  how would he play in any other system.  !!  Don't try and complicate it because central defender is possibly the easiest position to play.

We play a statem where our full back bomb on which means we are susceptible to quick counter attacks which means your cb need to be mobile, agile and quick or powerful and quick- he’s neither, he also has poor positional play. He was great for Burnley in a flat back 4 with 2 blocks of four in a 442 type formation where he isn’t exposed.

I'm not saying either are any good, both turn too slow for this level, but at least Pennington will get stuck in. The likes of Schneiderlin, Gana, and Keane don't have a good enough mentality and lose a lot of battles they should be winning. They have no conviction when trying to win the ball, just put their foot in and hope for the best.

So where do we go from here then- who plays on their place because we are just as bad no matter who plays, that’s my point. We are shit all over the park- Pickfords ok, Coleman,  Richarlson (hopefully) Sigguardson (maybe) that’s it, there is nothing else there Pete.

I'd say Pennington is slightly better. Both are slow but at least he's got some mental strength. Keane is the biggest pansy ever. Said it at the time other than being tall what the fuck is he better at than Holgate? Walsh should have been sacked on the spot for spunking £30m on him.

Pennington is not good enough Pete, as bad as Keane is he is better than Pennington. Keane doesn’t fit into the way we play- why they signed him knowing his style baffles me but so does everything Koeman and Walsh done. It’s like a pair of working class people winning a million pounds on a scratch card and buying 4 Ferraris and 3 Aston Martins- they only needed one, the other 6 are pretty much pointless.

Not looking great is it. I just don't get why he's still playing Keane and Schneiderlin he must be able to see already what happens when they start.

Who does he play over Keane though- Williams? As Pennington is even worse and Holgates injured. Davies never performs to oust Schneiderlin either, Besic isn’t good enough. God, we are so fucked we really are.

He's a throwback to a previous era. Of the old 4-5-1 where you had a flat back 4 and packed the midfield.

When full backs go on the attack he is simply not capable of covering the space. Jags used to be but time has caught up with him.

Keane isn'tttt a bad defender, he is just totally unequiped to play in our system. Whether it's 3 at the back or when a midfielder drops deep and he has to shuffle across. He gets mauled by every single winger who has any ability to go past a player.

Which leads you to wonder why he was bought by Koeman. I fucking hate that twat, and Walsh the fucking fraud. Jags is finished, his main strength was his ability to get back and rectify his positional mistake. Those legs wont carry him any more.

  7. He’s been poor since he signed Steve, I see nothing in pre season to suggest anything other than more of the same. Hopefully with a new partner he’ll settle but I’m not holding my breath. He turns slower than a canal barge, his positional sense is poor, he has no pace to dig him out of trouble when he is caught out and he’s a bit of a shithouse.

    My two pennies worth

We were a sinking ship staring relegation in the face, some people choose to bury their heads in the sand and try to deny it, but each to their own

Allardyce was never part of Moshiri’s vision, he was appointed as a stop gap with the remit of “saving us from relegation “

we kick off the new season with an opening fixture in the Premiership away to Wolves , so he achieved his aim and that is 100% fact

The only debatable bit is whether or not you are daft enough to believe we were never in trouble in the first place

Yep- that is exactly how I see it, and blaming Allardyce for the woes and tribulations that are going to follow is in my opinion ( note I said my opinion here for clarity as it seems that’s what I have to do when I’m discussing something) absolutely ludicrous. He was effectively a caretaker manager for 6 months and he kept us up. I was delighted when he was relieved of his duties but I was always fully aware that with a world cup happening we were still in massive trouble thanks to Koeman and Walsh- they sold Lukaku and pissed the money up the wall on shit players paying them massive wages- Sandro on 120 a week allegedly, Klaasen the same, Keanes probably on close to 100 so it’s not just the fees it’s the huge wage bill. We are in a right mess.

Obviously we’ve got no chance of getting of Trippier, I wasn’t suggesting we could do that. Just using him as an example to show that it’s not a recent thing of me wanting Coleman replaced. I’ve never been as enamoured with him as most are. He’s a good attacking full-back, as you say, but he’s not great. I think it’s because of his poor crossing, it pisses me off and always has done. I wish we’d cashed in on him when the hype was around him.

It doesn’t help that he’s lost a bit of pace since his terrible injury.

No I know you wasn’t suggesting get Trippier I was just agreeing that if itbwas a choice of the 2 I would have him. Colemans injury was a shame but to his credit he’s come back strong and he gives his all for the shirt. I’m hoping he can flourish under Silvas system but it looks like he’ll be going with the same one we’ve played for 6 seasons.

I’d be replacing him as well, but I’ve thought and wanted that for years. I wanted Trippier for that when he was still with Burnley. Heart of a lion but, imo, Coleman isn’t good enough.

Really? That does surprise me- I think he’s a good attacking full back which is what Silva likes to use but admittedly, I’d have Trippier over him but that ships well sailed. One things for sure, not signing at least one centre back will be as criminal as not replacing Lukaku was. Something needs to be done as the beating we’re taking wont be doing their confidence any good.

I wouldn’t be against having an entirely new back 4.

    We’re not signing Mina though.

I’d keep Coleman but we defo need 2 cb and it looks like Digne is all but done. Hopefully the shambles of a pre season will kick the board up the arse to get 2 in.

Where did I say all the damage? I had you down as someone who read posts.

Ok- any damage then. You’ve stated (or agreed) he would have nothing to do with team building or the board would be crazy to let him be involved yet you seem to think inside 6 months he’s caused this major damage that’s yet to surface. The damage was long done Matt- all’s he done was tred water with what he had- Silva will be responsible now for having them playing different but looking at the early games it seems like he too is going with 2 cdms when the last 3 before him have had zero results from it. That tells me that’s the only way he thinks this team can play so nothings really changed dynamics wise since Martinez. Everyone saying every team Allardyce has left have sunk when he’s left which is true but he was given license to buy a load of over proced average players on big wages- Koeman and Walsh already done that for him. The seeds were well and truly sown.

Well after tonight Pad we haven't got one to call on in this squad by the looks of it, but next game I'd try Besic Davies and Gylfi with Walcott wide right and Richarlison left, but to be honest I don't mind admitting it I'm totally at a loss with this club at the moment I really can't see any light at the end of the tunnel, I truly believe this is the worst football Everton have played that I can remember, I've gone past being depressed I'm emotionally beginning to feel dead and don't give a fuck about them anymore and that's not right.

Glad you answered it that way because we genuinely don’t seem to have one. This is the 4th manager who has now blayed with 2 defensive midfielders and it doesn’t work for us with the players we have. Maybe buying a new more dynamic defensive mid and pairing him with Gana or Schneiderlin it will nut those two don’t- especially in front of 2 static central defenders. I don’t think Besic or Davies are the answer nor Siguardson in midfield. I’m also at a loss because our midfield seems pointless from a defensive point of view and an attacking one.

  14. 9 minutes ago, Matt said:

One last time... we’ve not yet seen the damage he’s done. That means future tense and future developments will tell if that’s the case or not.

And also one last time- you can’t blame future disasters on someone who has had zero input into building a squad ( if we’re going with your theory he had nothing to do with the 2 signings) he never bought Klaasen, Keane, Sandro, Martina, Siguardson Schneiderlin he was just given 6 months to get to 40 points. If Silva fails with these players that is the 4th manager to fail to get a tune out of them but it’s Allardyce who caused all the damage? Seriously Matt- I had you down as more intelligent than to truly believe that.

  15. 7 minutes ago, Palfy said:

Let's give Silva a chance to work with him I'm sure there's a decent player in him, this season's friendlies have been more about looking at players, we haven't put out a decent midfield yet which doesn't help the defence or attack.

But I do agree from what we've seen he looks very suspect.

What would you say was a decent midfield?

  16. 4 minutes ago, duncanmckenzieismagic said:

I don’t think it’s affected the players at all, they were shite spineless bastards before he came, they were shite spineless bastards while he was here and they are still shite spineless bastards now he has gone

    Bingo!!!

Nothing has changed, he kept us up- that’s it but he’s certainly not made us any worse- could we be any fucking worse. Koeman, Unsworth, Allardyce and now Silva- same gutless spineless half arsed performances by players on triple figure salaries who aren’t in the slightest bit arsed and the ones that are are way past their best.

  17. The whole fucking team needs binning bar Pickford, Coleman and Richarlson. Everyone moaning about the defence- well we’re not scoring goals either. That’s 1 goal in 4 pre season games. Bad fucking times all over the pitch.
