I don’t get that. Why does it matter where a player has come from? I get it with wanting locals to come through the youth set up, but wanting players from a foreign league? Couldn’t care less if they came from league one or ligue un as long as they are good enough.

Fair, in that I don't actually care whether they're from a foreign league or the EPL.  Not trying to make an anti-local point, just that we need to "seek better value".

An EPL premium seems to get applied almost irrespective of actual performance, resulting in their being an opportunity for better ROI outside it.

Who would actually make us happy?

Foreign league or young local for me.  Free/really cheap is ok, but not keen on overspending (wages and transfer fee) for bang average old/older premier league players.  That's what got us into this mess.

At a 20m transfer and him likely wanting 80k+ a week, RLC would be a no from me.  Didn't exactly light it up when at Fulham on Loan last year.

I’d sell a lot of players - some controversial:

Pickford - peak price this summer in my opinion

Mina - best cb but wages far too high for what he brings

Holgate or Keane (even both) - done well recently but we need better

Allan - need to get something back for him this summer

Gbamin - may be a good time to sell on the back of regular playing time at CSKA

Doucoure - as Allan but not as desperately

    Gomes - not good enough

Simms - sell on the back of that loan spell

Richarlison - new contract with big release clause or sell

DCL - for the right price but only £50m plus

    Rondon - no reason needed

That makes for a busy summer!!! I think Tarkowski is a no brainer when you consider Lampard wanted him at Chelsea - I think we actually need 2 centre backs. I love the idea of Gallagher on-loan and would ask about Broja too (maybe Colwill, Gilmour or Ampadu) on a low purchase/buy-back deal. Nketia could be an interesting option in we could get him on a free. Lewis O’Brien and Brennan Johnson are players I like from the Championship - NDiaye at Sheff Utd looks a player too. My wildcard is Zinchenko though - think he’d flourish here in a more advanced position and offer decent versatility too.

Left-footed is high on the priority list for me.

I agree with all except for Simms.  Either keep (I have hope), or Loan into Championship.  Preference is to keep, I want multiple, hungry, young attacking options and I think he has the natural striking ability that we want to develop long term.

Either he signs a new deal, or he goes, we cant let his contract expire, question is who comes in for him, Premier League I cant see any team in the top 6 coming for him, from abroad it wont be any club from Spain, I cany see Juve, or Milan, PSG will keep Mbape so who?

Rumoured interest from Bayern, which is a bit concerning as they never pay much.

Why are you ruling out Spain?  Hopefully Ancelotti does us a favour and overpays.

  5. Think Richy is gone.  Wants to challenge for trophies and we're rebuilding again.  Fair play to him, he dug deep for us and we wouldn't have survived without him.

Would probably keep DCL unless a stupid ($50m+) offer is forthcoming, rather than lose both he and Richy in the 1 year.

I'd also cash in on Pickford while his currency is as high as it is.  Bring in a cheaper, gun, young keeper from a foreign league.

Hopefully we've given up on trying to buy our way up the table, can reset and build properly.

Deserves it then. Why would you goad a volatile man mountain like that?! Some people are just ffffick.

Yeah, looked like the guy must have said something particularly offensive.  Immediate thought went to it being something racist.  If it was, hopefully they're caught and banned.

Good on the other supporters who seperated them and protected Viera away.

  7. Turned it for us today, well done to him.

Not a "hustle" sort of player, looks like he conserves himself energy wise at times, but went in when he thought he could impact and won important balls.

Clean feet and very creative.  Will be nice if we can get him some players on his wavelength.  Then hopefully we'll see players on the end of his passes, like the little chip pass into the box (that Coleman missed).

Collins was left on his own for the whole sequence on the corner for their first as well, I have no idea who was even supposed to have him because no one did at any point.

Iwobi "picked him up" but half arsed it and just let him go, then Holgate failed to even go for the header as the last of the zone defensive line.

No Matchday thread yet but changes for Watford

DCL for Gray, DVB(if recovered) for Allan, and probably start Gomes for Doucoure.  Doucoure didn't look up to it (energy wise) today and turnaround might be too short.

Otherwise hoping that feeling and spirit sticks with the rest of the team.

Doh! Forgot about the FA cup and Watford postponement.
