IMO all of this talk of luck, badluck, poor calls, etc is irrelevant because you are now basing results on the officials. Why let them decide the outcome of the match? Does Leicester and Tottenham rely on those things? No, they run their flippin' TAILS OFF each match with a ton of passion, energy, and chemistry, and that is the real reason they sit first and second. The moment we start injecting that amount of passion into our playing, then we will begin to even think about the top 4, but when we don't chase down balls, run half-assed like we are 3/4 empty on fuel, run around the pitch with no plan or teamwork like a bunch of individuals, etc then we need to expect 14th place. Yes, *some* officiating has an impact, but you're as blind as RM if you think that is the reason we are where we are.

The bottom line is that Ranieiri and Ponch inspire their players - you can see it and feel it - Roberto does not. Maybe he did in 13-14 - remember when Rom ran to him and hugged him when he scored against Arsenal - man there was passion! Happy times indeed. It was literally like a different team. You could see it in their eyes and smiles. We don't play in that manner anymore, and that is because RM does not inspire this team, and his tactical approach is a flawed system for this set of specific players. The dream is all but dead now, and all I see is dread and anxiety in Roberto's face these days. The party is over. The irony is that we may win the FA Cup, but I personally will feel like the last two seasons still have been an utter failure.

So jealous watching Leicester today. Even when they are mediocre, they still have the energy, passion, chemistry , you fuckin name it....basically everything we are not.

Props to them, SO glad to see them win this instead of the usual big four shite, along with Tottenham, whom i can't stand.

You know what we all need right now? A proper lovefest.

We'll light a bonfire, all hold hands, and sing Everton chants and maybe even some old songs during the American revolution before you lost. Baines and Martinez can show up and do some slow dances together to Glenn Miller. MarkJazzBassist can bring his basses, Mike and MC can play bongos together, Newt can bring the Italian bread, Hafnia can bring the toaster, Matt, Shukes, Romey can bring the salsa and birthday cake, Lukaku can bring some money, and the rest of you can bring the beer, tequila, and your speedo swimtrunks. I'll bring the ham and lawn chairs. Lowensda - it wouldn't hurt if you bring some sheep too - preferably unshaved - I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of the 120 - 3,740 range. Everyone's invited (except the wives), even Naismith, and then we'll all head over Moshiri's place afterwards for some scones and coffee and watch all Everton home matches we've won at Goodison in the past 2 years. You should be home by 11:30 latest. Do you guys really eat scones?

"Yes, Leighton is absolutely correct in his statement. He is an experienced head with phenomenal character and wisdom, and I respect his honesty. And he speaks the truth - we do need to work on the team chemistry because it clearly wasn't demonstrated on the pitch today. We can and need to do better. It is something that we are working on as a team, its a collective effort, and I won't be 100% satisfied until there is a real team chemistry being shown at every minute on the pitch. Its experienced players like Leighton being honest enough to recognize the fact that we need to do better and I respect him for speaking out. No one individual is bigger than the shirt and we all need to take responsibility, including myself. I make this pledge to do everything in my power to make our fans and players proud."

As an elementary orchestra teacher who starts kids in 4th grade and has them for 5th as well, regardless of the bunch I get, there is always substantial progress shown. I literally take them from nothing in the beginning of 4th to a spring concert at the end of 5th grade that has parents weeping for joy and in awe of their accomplishments (yes I am proud and quite good at my job). Bottom line is my job would be in sincere jeopardy IF substantial progress wasn't shown in two years, and tenure system aside, they would most likely find a replacement. As a teacher, I am only as good as my last concert, and it is up to me to inspire and guide my students to achieve an ultra high level of playing, and I make sure that happens. I also do not make millions $$$ per year either (unfortunately)

What parallels can I draw from what I do to EFC? Well, Roberto has had three years with this team, and the results speak for themselves. This latest match against Man United should (on paper) have been Evertons greatest match display based on three years of progress, leadership, teamwork, etc in the same manner that my upcoming 5th grade spring concert will be (and should be). What we witnessed was one of the teams worst displays, and almost zero sense of any progress made whatsoever. If this is what I presented in May, I would have some serious problems on multiple levels. As a veteran of 20 years and a musician for basically my entire existence, I am consistently tweaking my methods, plans, ideas, to achieve an even higher level. If I was a pigheaded person who refused to alter my thinking, I would no doubt be an ineffective teacher.

In effect, RM is a teacher to this team. His inability to alter his failing methodologies and show progress is in effect a failed campaign. Most of us would lose our positions after two or three years if our end product was consistent with what Martinez has shown.

My main ax is string bass, and I teach violin, viola, cello, and bass (4th and 5th grade) in two schools (a NYS public school). I also play guitar, mandolin, and a little banjo.

Here is the top level high school orchestra in my school district - they competed nationally a few years back against other high school orchestras in the USA and won first place. The string program in my district is pretty special.

Honestly if I could move to the UK I would in a heartbeat. Its not just the Trump thing, either. Spent two weeks in the UK in August and didn't want to leave - I love the weather (yes - overcast, cool, rainy, etc), the beauty, the architecture, the people (except for you guys - ), the driving (the road system in the US blows chunks), the pubs, the green, etc

When I tell people here that I would live in the UK, they get all self-righteous and think I'm off my rocker - a common response is "The US is the greatest country in the world, why would you want to move there?". Ummmm, no its not. Its OK, I guess, but ultimately I find a majority of the people ignorant, plastic, and without a fucking clue about the rest of the world. The architecture is so bland here in comparison to Europe. Should I go on? I'll spare you. OK, I feel better now.

So true. Why stop at Rom though? Imagine if our entire 11 played game-in game-out with that amount of intensity and attitude? And yes, I'm excluding the dirtiness and cuntness (although TBH some of that from our players would be a welcome change once in a while). How many times this season have we had a great half only to wonder if it was the same 11 playing the other half - and it could in either direction. I've said this a million times, and I'll say it a million more: the manager and the captain of the team are the ones responsible for lighting the fire under the players arses, and to a large extent neither does most of the time. We are too fucking nice, and too many times its the "Gentlemen's Club of Everton".

You guys have some time to kill and want to be highly entertained? Check this out. The sour grapes from letting Lukaku go is almost too much to bear - in a good way A few of their fans admit that Costa is a scum, but some honestly felt we played dirty, which actually makes me feel so good since I have wanted us to play with a chip-on-our-shoulder (no pun intended) for some time, although I'm not sure its entirely true. Very few truly recognized that we were the better side and blamed Oliver as well. What a bunch of wankers and sore losers. The comments about Everton FC being a "shite side" are also telling - of course I don't agree with that statement - however our results this year would be indicative of that label, and this club needs to work on consistency, so pricks such as these know that we are actually an extremely talented side hindered by a questionable manager with questionable tactics and training methods. In any event, we sent those cunts home with their tails behind their legs, their heads down, and without a pot to piss in for the rest of their pathetic season, and the irony and beauty of it all was that it was largely accomplished by an "olde friend".
