I think his energy was fine but his passing looked like Digne’s to me. Kept passing behind players and forcing them to adjust, killing attacks.

Holgate just showed how fast he can sprint. I want to see that Holgate more often.

Really wish Davies had started in place of Gomes. Gomes’ passing has been negative and fairly lazy all match.

This game would look a lot different with Doucoure and Allan bossing midfield. Gomes and Siggy are too slow to play together. I think Davies is about the only player we could bring on to make a difference here.

Your logical skills are failing you. I downvoted a post that said Rio Ferdinand rating him is good enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. Rating someone’s quality and mentality are two very different things. Someone’s mentality can change overnight.

Rating a player has nothing to do with questioning his desire, mentorship or not. You can’t force a player to care.

No one is questioning his quality. I wouldn’t change my mind if god herself said he was the best defender in the world. He just doesn’t care.

He is playing ok, considering he is not playing in his natural position of centre back. 

Godfrey is everything that Holgate is not. Even when Godfrey is out of his depth at fullback, he plays with desire and grit. Holgate looks like he would rather be anywhere else. He wasn’t always like that and I don’t know what changed.

Yeah Holgate no longer cares. Really a shame because he looked very promising last season, but that goal was 100% down to him waltzing around. He didn’t even turn on the burners once he realized how open Alonso was.

I’m an Ancelotti believer but it is frustrating to start this second half with the same gameplan as City. We need to be far more attacking against such a poor defense.
