We have missed him especially in games were the first thought isn’t being defensive, Burnley is a good example of were we missed his quality, they are one of dozen teams that are losing more than they win, because they can’t cope with teams that take the game to them with a bit of flare and quality, we couldn’t do that which gave them the momentum to get at us, if James was available we would have seen a totally different game, but we can’t keep relying on James to be the only genuine player maker in the team, we are desperate for another James, Ancelotti will be lining up another midfielder to work with and cover for James.

It’s a strange season that’s for sure, with 10 games left for most teams there are still a lot of twists and turns to come, and how the top 7 finish up is anyone’s guess.

Agreed this isn’t his team it’s pretty much an inherited team we’ve hardly witnessed, Allan Doucoure James and Godfrey on the pitch at the same time, but when we have we’ve done better, put another 2-3 of his acquisitions to them next season and we will see another step forward, people need to try to remember it’s still very much early days for Ancelotti’s reign. He’s definitely a manager who knows what it takes to get to the top but he’s not a miracle worker. A bit of time and patience is required for me he has in someways over achieved with the squad he has got, not in game style but in league position he’s eked out more points through dogged displays than than free flowing displays because of what he’s got to work with, but that will change in the future if not he will be another who has struggled with the expectations of being manager at Everton

Personally I think we had at max 4 players out there who have genuine ability to bring the ball under control and play, Richarlison Gomes Allan and Iwobi, then we had the hard workers DCL Davies Godfrey and Keane, then the did nothing of any worth including subs Holgate Digne Coleman and King. What concerns me is the lack of ability in the team, to many players who haven’t got the ability to receive a ball and not keep it close so it can’t be easily taken, to many who haven’t made a decision to what’s available to them when they receive the ball, so if they control it they get caught in possession because of taking to long on the ball. What we have to remember is that we had 2 players on the pitch that were bought in by Ancelotti or 3 if you include King, this isn’t Carlo’s team 2 of his better acquisitions are out injured and one is just coming back from a longish time out. Next season with another 2-3 of his own signings we will see a better team with more players of genuine ability.

When he was in the middle he was Ok put Richarlison through who’s shot was well stopped, he kept hold of the ball well found himself traveling with it looking for someone to make a run or get into space but it wasn’t happening, so it was a sideways pass but he wasn’t losing possession.

If you’ve ever suffered cracked ribs you’ll know that win you think you’re healed you’ll make the slightest awkward moment and bang your back to square one, it can take months to truly heal.

He was starting to control the midfield and getting us going before he was taken off for King, when that happened we lost our momentum again, and King was poor waste of time putting him on.

At least the shite are below us, I know it doesn’t ease the pain but it could have been worse, they could have been top of the league.
