Watched my boys U/15 side play this morning (I’m from the land down under). They have started to play some basic but effective football. Moving the ball quickly into space, working hard to create/find space. Simple passes to a player facing the right way not into a congested area in the middle of the pitch because they didn’t know what else to do with the ball. Like I said basic but effective. Towards the end of the game it struck me how little of this I see in the premiership now (not just us) the gap between the top and the rest is massive and the fear of losing (or being relegated and the associated loss of revenue) is stifling football. Relevance to this topic. Just play football!

Wouldn't count out Burnley. Tough fixtures for them to come, yes, but only 3 from safety now
Your words not mine. So please tell me what you were trying to convey when you posted this when responding to my original post?

Big difference between having a chance and being a threat, Palf
Well I would say if they have a chance of staying up then they automatically become a threat to us as long as we have a chance of going down.

Much as I would like to support Dele, is it a risk worth taking? Not for me unfortunately.
Too much of a risk for me 10 million may not seem like a lot of money but when you haven’t got any it’s a fortune, add to that 5-6 million a year on wages, for a player who hasn’t shown any signs of improvement for 5 years and it’s just too much of gamble.

Given the performances of some in the squad, isn't taking a chance with youngsters worth a punt? Maybe they will want to play for the shirt in the hour of need. I really don't know.
Nothing should be dismissed in our quest for a change of performance, even the manager

Palf drawing a line from what I said to delusion
Why did you say what you said if you now believe that they don’t have a chance?

Did you watch Danjuma for the 21s he didn’t look anywhere near ready or he just didn’t do anything
No I didn’t to be honest, but I’ve seen enough of McNeil to know he needs dropping.

I think a bit less, probably. A couple of wins should do it. Luton aren't getting three wins from four.
A win tomorrow and things start to look a lot better.
You are probably right maybe 1 win and a draw will do it, I don’t see Burnley finishing higher as 18th even though dunlopp thinks they are a threat to us.

Surely we go with 2 wingers Danjuma on the bench for me McNeil is capable of scoring Danjuma has done nothing for nearly 2 years.
Danjuma does play on the left wing, he’s shown he’s more of threat than McNeil he actually wants to take people on.
McNeil is constantly drifting into the midfield, he doesn’t attack players anymore, he constantly plays backwards or sideways at best, and leaves Mycho trying to cover 2 men.
We need to change the story as dopey bollocks keeps saying so let’s play player’s who want to try and make difference and actually take the game to the opposition. -
I wouldn’t pick McNeil now Danjuma is fit he would definitely start for me over McNeil who has been piss poor for months.

I said last week Luton were done, the fight as gone from the players and the manager, I saw it last week in their demeanour and faces and it’s still here this week.
All we need to do is win 2 and draw 1 and we stay up, Luton are definitely down with Sheffield and Burnley. -

That way they can make sure we get relegated.

Because Dele’s contract with Everton is up, that doesn’t mean Everton’s contract with Spurs is up. The deal will be water tight.
Does anyone know what’s written in the contract, if they have made a provision in case he never played 20 games over 3 years then fair enough, but I find it difficult to believe that anyone would have considered that that would ever materialise, he came to us as a nailed on first teamer who wouldn’t struggle to get into a team well below his perceived standards. Unless of course Spurs new they were selling a player that wasn’t going to make the grade.

I think what Dyche needs to remember is '15 games ago...' is half a season! Almost half a season without a win is going to test the most hardened fans!
Anyways, must win!
Unfortunately, I expect Young to feature. And Doucs. Probs Godffrey at RB.
I don't care...just get as many wins as possible over the next 6 games!
He also needs a reality check I’ve never read or heard anyone call him the messiah.

Would you rather a manager say "yeah the lad can fuck off, never gonna play for me ever again"?
Yes I would rather the truth, I think the smack around the head and the fact that Godfrey kept him out of the team for weeks when we hadn’t won a league game for 3 months, is more than enough to tell me what he really thinks of Patterson, so now he knows he can’t play for the rest of the season he gives him praise, but never mentioned him when he wasn’t injured.
Absolute bollocks. -

I'd put it on Levy rather than the club, but yeah I agree. I still see how they can legally ask for compensation for an expired contract though.
I agree if and when he’s out of contract Spurs will have no say on where he can and can’t go and at what costs.

All good mate. Like I said, but maybe not clearly enough; I can't defend him anymore. I still believe the players are the biggest problem. After all, this run hasn't improved even with the enforced changes mixing the teams up a bit. But when you've got 16 seniors to chose from seriously (before injuries, suspensions and AFCON) mixing things up isn't really an option and the whole style (or completely lack thereof) is to avoid exposing the weakness of our players, like basic passing, basic shooting, basic tracking and running. They do it in the training videos, so how does Dyche transfer that concentration over the line? I don't think he can with everything taken into consideration and so he should go if we have a decent candidate. Hafs shout about Baines is a good call if we want to survive on blood and thunder. I wonder if we could tempt Carsley when thinking outside the media... But again, circumstances prevent us swapping staff.
I like the Carsley shout
