I loved going the first game of the season be it home or away, meeting up with mates you only see at the match. It's tarnished a bit now as I can't get to as many games, but I always remember Walter Smith's first game walking up to the ground and a steward saying to me "cheer up mate it can't be as bad as last season" with me replying "that's what I'm worried about" sure enough the game and the season was nothing to write home about, other then the Duncan Ferguson debacle. I think that is the only time I've never felt optimistic for the first game, although we'd spent a bit of money getting some good players and had a new manager, something just didn't feel right.

I think we'll either get a RB or a CB not both, and Holgate will be the back up to the one we don't get. It will be a make or break season for Holgate, if he fails it could and should be his last season here.

let's hope man, i would love to move him and Niasse on, and get a top rate striker with DCL the deputy. Â
Don't think we'll be getting rid of Niasse anytime soon, he'll be quite happy been sent out on loan and still pick up his hefty wagesÂ

Take a risk on Kean, if it doesn’t work out you’d still get most of the money back. I’d be more than happy having him and DCL switching, if one of them is scoring they keep their place. Could also give us a chance to play two up front in some games.Â
Yeah I'd go with something like that, it would give us a plan B and we wouldn't be so predictable. I also wouldn't mind getting Costa if the price was right (10-15 mill) at least he'd gives us that aggression and could teach DCL a thing or two.

What we as a club are missing is a player that can score a goal out of nothing, and change a draw into a win. If DCL can do that then great, he'll save us a load of money. I personally would like to give him a full season as are main striker to see if he can do it, but I wouldn't be happy going into the new season with just one striker because we have no one else good enough. Â

Apparently it's the strikers fault for not scoring goals, can't remember there been any chance for them to score. It's ok tho because the rest of the team played well. What a nobÂ

I’d rather focus on the right players this time. If we do that, price tags have even less meaning than they already do.Â
Yeah, we need to get the nucleus of the squad right and get back the team mentality we had under Moyes.

If the shite win today there will be 20 points between us and fourth place, with this team and manager that gulf will probably be bigger next season.
If we get a new manager in next season and give him another 250M to spend, how many years would it take to make us a team that could challenge for a Champions League place, 4-5 years if we can make up 4-5 points a season or sooner, what do people think.
Problem is the top 4 if not the top 6 have £250m more talent in there squads, before they send  £200m on 2/3 players in the summer.
-
Hopefully the same team barring injuries, but highly doubt it. Fat Sam will probably play 5 at the back and Gana and Morgan together in midfield.
-
Voted for Tom Davies, his last 2 and a half games, he's showed the energy and drive we've been missing. Should never of been drop for the Arsenal game.
-
The thing holding Luke back is, if he plays we'd have 3 young and inexperienced defenders in are back 4. I'd throw him in tho, because Coco's not even a player, we'd be better with 10 men.
-
I can see us coming to some kind of arrangement with Silva, that he doesn't take another job and he comes here in the summer. I would say this tho, is he the best manager we could get, his record is not the best.

Every season has THE game. This season is brutal so let's reminisce. The game is remember best is against Utd 4-4. Only a draw but what a game that was. Head hit the ceiling jumping off the couch when Pienaar scored.Â
Â
With you on that, also helped stop Utd winning the league  (I think)
-
Don't think we need any CB's just yet. Swansea won't want to sell him so will be a way to high price. Wait until the summer and get him for a more realistic price when Swansea are in the championship.
-
Looks so much better centrally, put pace on the wings and a quick forward passer in midfield, and he'll be great.
-
Made up with this, god knows we need him.

Jags for me, although Kenny had another good game.Â

If some of th players we are being linked with materialise, then maybe Sam isn’t the one way street we all think he is.
Some of these players could really make a difference for us. Tosun and Nzonzi alone would make a massive difference.
With you on this one, let's see after January. The reason he plays so defensive maybe because we have no creativity or goals. How many of us hoped to win one game under Koeman, let alone go on a unbeaten run.

86 was my first season going the games and going to Wembley was special although we got beat.
Enjoyed the dogs of war in 94-95.
Favourite year tho is 87 watching that team was a joy, that's why I've gone with 2013-14 the football was great.Â

The mental side is the part of it I don't think anyone would need to worry about with him tbh.Â
Yeah that's what made him so good, take that out of his game and you've got a completely different player. It might make him a better reader of the game and not be defensively out of position so much.Â

Champions league football, he wants to concentrate on getting in our first team and making us a champions league team before anything else, considering we pay his hefty wages
