  1. I love a defender who looks assured on the ball, he's our Daniel Agger (injuries to boot!)
  2. To pat myself on the back I looked at Wigans defensive record with and without him - it was night and day difference. I was confident he would enable us to sell Heitinga,
  3. This is the beauty of what we are seeing at Old Trafford... lets see how cocky and arrogant they are at getting the worlds best when they are trying to get into europe by fair play awards. I would truly love to see United fail to achieve top 4 and watch their targets go to their rivals. Just watching the likes of Mourinho picking at the likes of Rooney and infuriating their fans with comments like "Chelsea are bigger than Man United right now, we are in the champions league, Wayne Rooney should be playing champions league" - ahh would love it.
  4. Worst? quite difficult to guage, Overrated? Ok i'll have a pop. Cleverley Smalling Johnny Evans Kevin Nolan Ryan Shawcross Frank Lampard - yep he's good but not the player he is made out to be. Joe Allen - a £3m player dressed up as a £15m one
  5. Martin O'Neill refers to him with affection as a "cantakerous git"... "He's fallen out with the coach, what a surprise. What is it about, how nobody brought his boots or something?" said O'Neill. "This young fellow fell out with the reserve team coach with Celtic at 16 because he felt he should not be going to Aberdeen if he wasn't going to start in the reserve game. "I know Aiden. He's a great lad, with great ability. He's a cantankerous git. He'll be fine," laughed O'Neill Basically he comes across as a bit of a diva... looking at our squad now I would guess there are a few... Mirallas, Jelavic, Pienaar, Deulofeu, Lukaku.... but you have the likes of Barry, McCarthy, Jags, Howard, Distin, Baines, Osman as level headed sleeves rolled up and "get on with it" attitudes. A player like McGeady would probably be a disaster in a squad full of egos - put him in with the right characters and I think he will quickly learn to shut up and get on with it, along with that the fans will not stand for any Royston Drenthe-like behaviour.
  6. That could be the difference at the end of the year, they coped admirably, albeit they had easier games when they were without him. Given the choice of any players in the world that you would have in our team my order at the moment would be 1. Ronaldo 2. Suarez 3. Messi.... Messi is a genius but with suarez you know that in the prem he does what it says on the tin. Regretfully Suarez is a genuine world class player - the best in the premier league this year.
  7. It all depends on the things you can't account for... We have already lost Baines, Barkley, Jags, Distin, Gerry to injuries and up till now been ok. We really need to ensure we can get these guys back to full fitness asap and prepare for the big push. Take some of our creative strength out and replace with an Osman or a Naismith a we are less potent. You can't really account for the guile that we have when you have a fit Barkley or Gerry playing. If Liverpool lose Suarez and Sturridge again then I see them drawing or losing a few games, if they keep those 2 fit then they have a chance of 4th. The top 5 teams are picking up the points they need to at the moment which makes it extremely tough and will no doubt see the highest 4th placed points at the end of the season. Its going to be a battle.
  8. Seriously? This isn't the zingari league, different players have different make ups. They need to be managed right, he had 3 months out, any imbalances in the muscles will result in tears. Paul McGrath, Lesley king, Duncan Ferguson, RVP needed tailored training. It's not mind over matter, it's now a case of managing the players physiology intelligently. He is what is considered a higher risk player when it comes to injuries.
  9. He's off for 2 weeks with muscle fatigue. Martinez is a qualified physio, probably a precautionary absence. He has played a few games when he should have been used sparsely.
  10. 2 fingers up to Moyes and the mancs
  11. Anders limpar was one of the most underrated footballers in the premierleague. Based on his ability he was up there as a Zola before he came (Zola was exceptionally talented btw). Mcgeady will be expected to make dribbles, final ball will need work though.
  12. Carrying some timber, but welcome to the club aiden, get your finger out and lose any attitude you've got. I'm pleased about this all in all.
  13. I love his multi syllable positivity, makes a change from Moyes and his "butter" - anyone seriously picked up on this "we lost again today but errr we will try and win against accrington Stanley, who are a good side so we will try and get a result, but errr yes I am disappointed that the referee didn't give us the decisions I would never have moaned about as an Everton manager"
  14. It's a bit like having to go to town with a mate you don't like, and he introduces you to your future wife ... That's what bill has done to his haters with RM
  15. Trust me, Martinez is a chess player, his departure will trigger a move for another player. On jelavic, if he kept up his initial form he would be a £20m striker. In and around the 18 yard box, one touch and it's in the net... Reminded me of yakubu. I'm not gonna go on a "Davie Moyes ruins strikers" rant, so I'll just say that and move onto saying "I don't know what happened"....even though you know I do.
  16. Likely to last till end of season for comparison reasons. I agree to an extent, can it be merged with David Moyes thread.
  17. In fairness he could have opted for some shite like Martin O'Neill, the Portuguese bloke everyone wanted based on him doing well in a 3 club league... So I will give him credit for getting RM and that's coming from someone who ain't bills biggest fan.
  18. It doesn't need closing, like all threads - when they do become irrelevant they end up pages away and vanish. Every day there are media articles reflecting on a new change after over 20 years at united and 11 years at Everton. If it wasn't for the fact that Moyes is doing so shite with league winners and Martinez was doing so well with previous percentage players all within the space of a few months then it wouldn't be such a fascinating topic.
  19. Pretty much screwed outside of England to be honest, but living 5 miles from prenton park makes Tranmere fans obtainable.
  20. Ha ha, need to be more subtle to be a wum on this site. Add up the titles won by Chelsea, spurs, man city together, see if the exceed the number achieved by Everton. I'll be honest I confuse Barnsley and Burnley, what's the difference? Not being thick or anything, it's just never intrigued me enough to find out.
  21. Martinez walking the talk. Like it. It may shock you to hear I know a few rovers fans... I will make sure I get regular feedback.
  22. I'm sure he would find suitable excuses to get in nice and early. Be interesting to see hammers fans reactions when he says 16th is a great achievement for a club like the west ham.
  23. Moyes would get another job no problem, it would be at a wolves, wba, west ham. I always said Everton was too big for him. In many ways we were.
