  1. I see they knocked Aberdeen out 8-1 on aggregate with a 5-1 win in Scotland and 3-0 win at home. only a 12,000 capacity stadium so not many will be travelling.
  2. pf I think it was split into groups but we are a seed while the teams we could have played weren't. It's not that any of those teams could play each other, it's that any of our group of seeds could play any of those teams. I think anyway!
  3. Good draw in the CL play off's I see with Arsenal meeting Celtic! Could it be a double prem v Scottish show down?! If Celtic lose would I be right in thinking that would be them out of Europe completely? Same as happend to Rangers last year.
  4. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/06082009/58/premier-league-voles-threaten-everton-stadium.html Premier League - Voles threaten Everton stadium Eurosport - Thu, 06 Aug 11:23:00 2009 Everton's plans to build a new 50,000-seater stadium have been jeopardised by a colony of water voles. ..The Merseyside club want to move from their present Goodison Park home to a state-of-the-art arena in Kirkby, a northern suburb of Liverpool, but the protected species has been discovered on the prospective construction site. The rodents live on the banks of Kirkby Brook, which crosses the site, and must be moved before building work can take place. Developers must complete the relocation before autumn, when the animals hibernate, as it is illegal to disturb a sleeping vole. Tesco, who also plan to build on the new Kirkby site, have deployed JCBs and a team of wildlife experts to help the animals move home. A spokesman for Knowsley council, which has backed the move, said: "As landowners, we have granted a licence for our land to be accessed in order for ecological works to be undertaken. "These works will ensure the safe translocation of a protected water vole habitat in Kirkby Brook. "The work will include the erection of safety hoardings, systematic clearing of overgrown vegetation and vole assessment." Everton's Kirkby project is still awaiting final approval pending a public inquiry, the outcome of which is expected by November. If the stadium gets the green light, the Toffees will move there in 2012. " Could we produce any more problems for ourseles if we tried?
  5. haha, not heard anything of this. a little Kaka style, who pledged his alleignce to Milan while laughing at City and their rediculous size bid. A few months later he transfers out for a smaller amount to Real. As long as we get as much as possible for him I don't care where he goes.
  6. hahaha! nice one Mike! I wish I did! There's a faior few millionaires over here but not a lot of billionaires, sure there's plenty with their money over here in one form or another mind! Only billionaires I know of around these parts are the Barclay Brothers (note nothing to do with the bank) but they don't seem like the jolliest of fellows and I'd have to find my way on to their private Island and knock on their castle door if I wanted to speak to them! If I was a billionaire myself I'd be setting up a football club over here, I'm sure with the low tax rates (which it seems is part of the reason why players move to different countries now) I'd be able to bring over lots of big name players to pay their 20% flat rate!
  7. not back up i'm afraid droobie, Deadrie was taken by City for a record £100 fee and the promise of a new magimix mixer and her choice of premium grade apron.
  8. Unfortunately I can't quite imagine an X Factor style queue lining up at the stuido of Billionaire's!!! I think such things work better when you've got at least 1 if not many more people that actually want to do the job in question!!!
  9. I don't know who Miguel is to be honest. Where's he from? Dissapointing lack of English/British players, At the moment we have an all English back 4 (with Jags fit) as well as Neville. With that team we'd be going down to 1 first team (Baines) with some English men bulking out the bench. We'd have enough in the squad under the rules and of course our small squad always means we have to register unplayed youngsters anyway but it would be shame to see our British player count dropping. Sorry forgot Jagielka not being listed due to injury so that would be 2 in general. This Elm guys agent certainly doing a good job at rating him extremely highly, I hope he lives up to expectations.

    Blackpool

Arnoux, Peterlin and Mustafi on the bench. Also Turner, Jose Baxter, James Wallace, Lukas Jutkiewicz, Shane Duffy, Kieran Agard and Adam Forshaw.
  11. If it's down to either sell and have some money to spend or don't sell and buy no new players to increase the squad size besides random young guys who will probably never get a game then I think Moyes will sell so long as he gets absaloutely as much as City are willing to pay. I for one think it is the best thing to do, I've nothing against Lescott for doing it, most people would take double their wages to change job. He's not being asked to move far and he is joining a side that have the potential to be very good if they can work well together. Until our financial situation changes we will have to sell occasionly in order to improve. No one likes to be tagged a selling club and we are doing our best to avoid it but lets be honest, we've no money and we are going to struggle with the current size and quality of our squad. We did brilliantly last year with a very small squad and some big injuries but we can't do it all the time. I don't want Lescott to leave but if it allows us to buy a few players that will improve the squad then I think that it is best for us.
  12. not sure how we can get a work permit for this lad? Bringing in a non internationally capped player in to go in the reserve squad? fair enough, seen some good comments about him on some of the Yank sites so good luck to him.
  13. interesting reading the last few pages. We've spent the last 2 months moaning about not getting any players and when we do (so it appears we will) most don't want him! Not too sure myself, I've watched a fair bit of Arsenal but tend to watch their delightful attacking players more than their defenders. Arsenal fan mate seemed happy to be rid but I'll be happy to see another player that's not too young or inexperienced to actually play join the squad. Without a huge knowledge of his game I'd say that as a product of Wenger youth (since 18 anyway), I'd say he is very likely to be a decent passer of the ball as is the way Wenger trains his players and hopefully will be able to sort out any previous problems he had with apparently being a bit shaky at the back. So far as weather he'll be a starter or back up goes, Lescott is very likely to go, if he doesn't then Senderos will probably start off as backup if he does then he will start off in the side with Jagielka out. With Yobo also away in January for the African Nations we will also need a replacement then. Am I willing for us to take on a 24 year old ex Arsenal and Milan, International centre back at a resonable price? Of bloody course I am
  14. agree to some extent. mike your points about the teams being in those tournaments for profile and money. thing is that's exactly what we want and I don't think it would do us any harm to play some tough games, fully televised with a little meaning added with a trophy and pride in beating quality opposition. On the other hand as we don't beat the likes of Coventry maybe a game against Milan or someone of the like wouldn't be a great confidence booster!
  15. the sad thing is the 2 options that are the only people that been suggested aren't even rumours as transfers let alone looking likely to come! Moutinho isn't coming, pretty sure of that and same goes for Fernandes. I don't know if we'll get anyone new, I think we'll get at least one signing but weather they'd be considered to be big or not is undecided. I've heard the new lad selling the pies is carrying a few pounds.

the kids left back at home played a friendly against Southport today. 1-0 win with Nathan Craig scoring the goal. The side included Mustafi and Peterlin, shows Peterlin isn't rated enough at this stage to join our small squad on their travels. Team for the game: Everton: Turner, Thompson (Mustafi, 55), Garbutt, Peterlin ((Lawrie, 60), McGarten, Duffy, Forshaw, Akpan, Jutkiewicz, Agard, Craig (Codling, 83).
  17. a few sites have got this new offer with the addition of Nedum Onouha. http://www.eatsleepsport.com/everton/city-throw-in-starlet-for-toffees-ace-923550.html I don't know much about him but having looked at the City site it appears he's been their first choice right back for most of last season, is 22 years old, originally from Nigeria but has since played for England under 21's. Anyone got any thoughts on him? If he's a right back then he's really only of interest to us if he's either better than Naughton or if our Naughton transfer has fallen through.

I'm hoping that the USA/Canada tour will be the making of Jo for us. I wasn't impressed with Jo's attitude last season but an away from home tour should help him bond with the squad more and get an idea of what our team and Moyes is about. The American tour has always been a success and I think it should have a huge benefit for him, it would be nice to see another new name or 2 to take in the tour as well though.
  19. him and Arteta can annoy everyone with their multi language covernsations! Estimates on final Lescott price folks? I think we'll back down at 20 million but think we should be taking no less than 25.
  20. would you realy include Jo in your list if we had a multi-trillionaire owner and also brought in Villa? I definately wouldn't. M'Bia i've never seen play so wouldn't know.
  21. "Everton was a successful club before Moyes" In the past maybe but not in the 5-10 years that preceeded him. we only had 1 season in the top half of the Premiership in the top half prior to Moyes, since Moyes we've had 5 years in the top half 3 of which in the top 5. Sounds fairly successful to me all be it as the redshites would say "he hasn't won anything". Obviously credit has to go the players and yes they've all come to the club or been brought through the club as good players but look at other teams and they have as good as if not better squads of players than us but their manager doesn't get the potential from them and doesn't instill the right attitude to see them come from behind and to produce results week in week out as we have.
  22. wow! that's a pretty angry interview! I think Moyes had no time for him but obviously we don't really know the ins and out of what went on. Whatever he's clearly a pretty angry man and good to see the back of someone with that attitude. all the best to him and his kid anyway
  23. flicked around a bit at the moment, only times i could handle them telling me what wasn't going on at the chelsea and Everton hotels! back on now but no sound, i've been getting myself going with the new Prodigy album very heavily with the subbie letting the neighbours and the street have a listen. A bit of Z Cars every now and then for good meassure!
  24. DAVID MOYES...DAVID MOYES.....DAVID DAVID MOYES...HE'S GOT RED HAIR BUT WE DON'T CARE DAIVD DAVID MOYES COYB'S!!!
  25. Coverage has now started of the GREATEST Cup final in the world! I can handle them calling it that!
