  1. I think what we have now that we didn't have last season is confidence that we are a very good team. The run we put together at the end of last season, plus the new pre-season training system, the signings we have made and most importantly not loosing one of our first teamers has given us a sense of belief. As a result the team have the confidence to play some great football and the results are showing that. I think we will sign 1 or 2 more players, and it wouldn't surprise me if there was one medium size transfer in there (5 - 6 million). The other teams challenging the top 3 all look under cooked to me and we have a real chance, perhaps the only one we will get for several years to qualify for the champions league.
  2. Could be a deal like we did for Felli, but find it hard to believe as others would offer cash up front.
  3. To be fair to Vic, hes a big lad and is quite a blockage...
  4. Howard, Hibbert, Duffy, Heitinga, Garbutt, Naismith, Barkley, Junior, Gueye, Mirallas, Vellios. With Naismith and Gueye on the wings and Mirallas behind Vellios.
  5. Went for Pieenar, but any of the team could have had the vote. Gibson is a key player for us and along with Osman really makes us tick. I would like to see Junior and Barklay given chances (from subs bench, and in the cup) as I think they could really offer quality cover for the first team.

If we settle in first 15 I can see us winning, if they score first and get their tales up then we might struggle to draw. I still think we have to much for them, and our mental strength has impoved allot over the last year so I am hopeful of 3 points.
  9. Players we could have signed a few years back but squad quality has improved so it's a no from me. Better off spending our little cash on players with more to offer.
  10. Depends if he wants to spend another 2 seasons at Caan I guess. Can't see him staying in a place he's unhappy with. Problem is if he comes to us spends a year in the reserves training with first team etc and then puts in a transfer request. If he doesnt want to come to us I would rather we got Ince
  11. Is a very good player but too similar to Osman, Pienaar, Naismith and at 32 £3million is waaaaaaaaaay to much. On a free yes but not for money, especialy as we have so little of it. We need IMHO a centre mid and a winger, a genuine hug the touchline whip a cross in guy like Matt Philips or even Ince who can also play behined the front man.
  12. To quote Kevin Keegan, "I would love it absolutly love it" if Vic was to come good for us, but alas he hasnt. He shows signs of what he can do, ususally for 15 minutes every other game. I remember the glorious Euro games where Vic would come on and absolutly terrorise defenders and score goals. He hasnt replicated this, hense why we have got Naismith, Morallis (winger / strikers) and look like were getting another winger in. Hes not the future let him get regular games at another club. You could start the Victor Appreciation Club or VIC - VAC for short, a bit like Shake and Vac but without the results....
  13. Love the idea of having Ince though, from what I've seen of him he's developing nicely. Comming from Blackpool he will of been taught his football the right way and encouraged to play attacking football.
  14. I have a feeling about selling Vic, it's called delight

I do like Villa and have watched some cracking games between the teams. I see parallels between us just after Smith / start of Moyes and them now under Lambert. Both in terms of negative tactics used by managers, the 8 defenders played by smith against Newcastle still gives me nightmares. McLeish used similar tactics last season. You will get better and play better football but this will be a rebuilding process and take time. I think that you will struggle but finish around 15th if you can get some support for Bent and get N'zogbia and Ireland to play to their potential. I really hope you survive as you have a great club, supporters and tradition. I still think we will win this one as we need to maintain momentum, its just unfortunate that you couldnt get a result against the hammers despite playing quite well. 0-3 to us
  16. True, but the thought of Steve G and Carragher hurtling to a squishy end is simply too much to resist. And its for science.. We could start a whole trend, dissecting Downing in an attempt to find his footballing tallent, seeing how long Steve G lasts in isolation (thats just for the sake of humanity really), and lest we forget a DNA analysis of Andy Carroll to find out what species of lesser ape his mum mated with to produce him. The list goes on....
  17. Can we get Mythbusters to settle it for us? Perhaps they could take it in turns with the rest of the Liverpool squad to see who is and who isnt faster than a mushroom
  18. Just how fast is a mushroom anyway? On a more serious note Jan "just one more pie I promise" Molby was posativly glacial in his movement but he sure could pick a pass. Granted he was a RS.

    Villa

Having had a lurk on a few villa sites they seem to think they will lose, but are hoping that the home fans see them through. They are looking to change the way they play from last seasons abomination that was Alex McLeish. They expect to have a rough start and improve as the season goes on. They also believe that without re-inforcements especialy to help out in attack they will struggle. Villa are a toothless tiger, I expect us to be too stong for them in all areas, they no longer have the pace they used to and alot of their players are low on confidence. DM will want us to push on and build a winning mentality, dont expect the same heroics but do expect us to be very attacking after keeping it tight for the first 15 minutes. Prediction 0-3
  20. Think we were the best team, certainly the most fluid in the first 60 minutes. Once we got the goal we did drop back and at the end it was backs to the wall stuff. But They never looked like scoring appart from the Japanese fellas chance which Howard was on to quickly. The whole team played very well on the whole, I think that the subs were good.
  21. Bloody Heroes, everyone of them, magnificent!!
  22. 4 Bloody minutes, whose the timekeeper Morphius
  23. Why doesnt the ref just put a red shirt on and remove any doubt
