Steve_E reacted to Avinalaff in Thomas Hitzlsperger
That's it then.
We're now kicked out of the FA cup, pending an enquiry.

Steve_E reacted to MikeO in Ross Barkley
Much better that he plays for a decent championship team than a struggling one.
Hopefully Mirallas is close to fitness.

Steve_E reacted to Bailey in Ross Barkley
Thought he did surprisingly well myself. Got caught down a dead end but that aside I thought he looked very assured.

Steve_E reacted to Avinalaff in Lewis Holtby
I think it's all agent hype with Holtby.
Moyes was linked with him a few seasons ago, and didn't act. I'm not sure how they can call him a big name, as he has just 3 caps, the first was June 2011, so if he is that good, why only 2 more caps in the space of 18 months? He is a young player with potential, and certainly not a player we should be giving big money to just yet.

Like Haf says I couldnt have been prouder of that performance. We may not have won, but on the balance of play we at least deserved a point. I wouldnt quite go as far to say we were the better team throughout as they had some good chances too, but me more than matched them with a depleted side and in the end, I think that is probably what won that game for Chelsea.
There were no bad performances throughout the team. Jags and Jelavic will both think they could have done better but they still played well throughout. Vic was brilliant all game and he looked as fit as I have seen him, Pienaar was very sharp and lively but he created as many chances as he pissed up the wall and he wasnt as good in the 2nd half.
All three of the subs that came on did really well I thought. Vellios looks a real player. His control and awareness were better than both Vic and Jelavic (and Torres!). He makes decent runs and offers himself for a pass. I think he needs more game time.
Oviedo was closed down quite a lot early on but his class showed through towards the end. He seems to have a great never say die type attitude which I really like to see.
Barkley seems to have come in for some stick but I thought he was very good as well. Showed his strength on a couple of occasions, made a couple of important challenges and looked like he wanted to make something happen without it quite paying off. Yes he lost the ball, that led to the opportunity for Torres BUT he was 30 yards from their goal, didnt have anywhere to go when he rec'd the ball and he actually wanted to try something that could have led to a chance. If we were winning at the time, I could understand the comments but fuck me, we were losing, needed a spark and he tried to play himself out of the alley he was passed into. I dont quite know what some people expect from the lad. He looked very solid to me and I wouldnt worry about putting him in against Newcastle, or either of the other lads.
Also credit to Moyes too. I saw the teamsheet and thought it would be the same 4-4-2 as last week, but he adapted it to a 4-5-1 which worked. He also made the right subs with the options he had available. It didnt quite work this time, but it will do in the future.
My motm was between Baines and Distin. The back four were brilliant as a whole (nice to see Heits back) and I will probably go for Distin overall.

Steve_E got a reaction from Bailey in Which Premiership players would be sensible targets in January?
Shawcross is a big lad helped a lot by being able to defend inside his own box a lot of the time. He doesn't have to pass either as the goalkeeper will go long all the time. He wouldn't be as good for another team as he is for Stoke.

If rumours about Man U getting Lewandowski are true, I'd like Welbeck.
But to be honest, I don't think there's a lot of good value out there in the PL.

So proud of the lads today, incredible performance. We are a real team, another day we would have scored 4 or 5. Lets see that level against your stokes and wigans.
Proud to be a blue, unlucky boys.
