  1. Fell off a little bit towards the second half of the season... but who didn't at Leeds. The manager changes didn't help. I have a sneaky feeling that if Adams hadn't have been injured the last part of the season then it would be Leeds that stayed up over us, but we'll obviously never know for sure if that's the case.
  2. On tackles, Adams was 4th (89) in the league and Gana was 3rd (97). I think if you add the tackles and interceptions then he would be in the top 10 (35 interceptions + 89 tackles) in the league, but no, he is not in the top 20 for interceptions (cut-off is 45), but that's not a claim in the original post. For context, Gana had 56 interceptions, so 153 tackles and interceptions vs. Adams' 124 in 11 less matches. Don't really care about the stats as they doesn't necessarily determine who's a good player, but I wanted to add some context. I like Adams a lot, but I do worry about his injury history. I think it's time to start looking beyond Gana though, he's getting up there in age and he's regressed a little bit. EDIT: since this is the McTominay thread, he had 32 tackles and 14 interceptions, but that's obviously skewed by the amount of minutes he played.
  3. Ah, that’s the one I was thinking of! That was terrible.
  4. I can’t argue with that. He’s given away some shocking passes. There’s one pass I remember specifically (I think against Fulham) where he had so many options and absolutely chose the worst one. It led to a goal. I think he was playing on the right in that game but was in the middle of the field when this happened. I still think that if we get rid of him we need to bring other bodies first. Our depth is our main weakness.
  5. I like Iwobi, but he's ineffective on the wing. It's obvious he's best in the center, but we have better players there. That said, I would prefer to keep him and sign a player he can rotate with. I think he adds a creative spark even if he doesn't have a ton of end product. I think ST, CB, LB, and another CM are the current priorities over replacing him.
  6. That's my problem with him: he doesn't really add anything. You don't bring him off the bench to change a game, and more often than not the person he's replacing should just stay on the field, because they're more effective. If he stays then the only situation I'd want to see him in are matches where we've already won and we just need a sub so another player can rest. It's hard to justify having a sub like that on the bench (although we do have a habit of putting two keepers on the bench which is even more baffling). He's not even a terrible footballer, but I don't see what he brings to the pitch.
  7. I can’t believe we’ve offered him a new contract. We need to move on from players like this. Nothing against him, he’s just not good enough.
  8. I'm already fearing for it. I have little to no faith he won't be plagued by injuries for the rest of his career. I pray that isn't the case, but his history isn't very kind.
  9. If we received a world record fee it would be stupid to turn it down though, right?
  10. I don’t want him to go, but I feel like if he did then many folks on here would be disappointed by the fee. Honestly, he’s done so much for us that holding out on a world record fee would be pretty crazy (if he wanted to go which I don’t think he does). He’s not the best keeper in the world, IMO.
  11. I thought he was left-handed? Alright, see you guys later.
  12. I’ll just keep it simple and say I don’t see him as our future at the CB position.
  13. How do we know that for certain though? There’s a possibility we can’t spend any money given FFP or the shift in ownership/budget control. I mean, it’s moot regardless, but I just find this an odd revelation.
  14. TBH, my expectation going into the summer was that we wouldn't have a lot to spend on transfers any way, so if the above changes you mention come to fruition then I'll be ecstatic. We desperately need a change of leadership at the top.
  15. Hopefully with Moshiri out of the way (and potentially Kenwright) we can let our DOF do his job. The second sentence of the tweet gives me joy for now.
  16. That makes me nervous but also very optimistic!
  17. This is what I'm worried about. It seems a no-brainer to move on two of Keane, Holgate, or Godfrey if we think we can get suitors for them. I think Coady makes sense as a back-up for the fee, as long as we brought in a replacement in addition to Brainthwaite coming back and proving capable of a spot in the first team. We won't find many CB's at Coady's price. If we plan on keeping at least two of the above mentioned then I can understand not bringing back Coady though.
  18. My only worry with Adams is his injury record. He'll play in a lot of matches, but he'll also likely miss time. He throws himself about a lot, so that probably doesn't help.
  19. Agreed on most, especially on Adams. I actually think he'd be an upgrade on Gana, and this isn't me being biased. Leeds' rapid downfall has coincided with Adams getting injured and missing the last half of the season.
  20. I can't believe it's been 10 seasons already! That's absolutely bonkers.
  21. West Ham is one the clubs I can't stand the most, but I love this!
  22. He'll be a decent backup to Patterson. We still need to look at bringing in a younger, third RB to start integrating into the squad for when Coleman is gone. We can't let history repeat itself by failing to address squad depth. This upcoming season will have to be Coleman's last year even though he's been important for us this season.
