Exactly this mate. Even Barkley can sit on the bench for this one, hasn't looked interested at all. Let people who want to wear and battle for the shirt play. Besic is a must for this one for me.

Would gladly lose today in exchange for a victory on Saturday. Martinez starting to look like that clown Moyes when facing the top sides (don't think Moyes ever won an away fixture against them). I was very much pro-Martinez when he joined but this season has been very difficult. If we could somehow get past Man Utd, though, I think the whole picture changes. There are a lot of players not pulling their weight, and considering the money they're earning, they should be ashamed of themselves. My heart sinks when I see them not trying. Hoping for a gritty and committed draw today to build confidence and a gritty and committed win at the weekend.

I would play the likes of dowell and say "nothing to lose lads, get out there and enjoy yourself. You could be in the squad for the semi at Wembley"

I would look at the underperforming shrinking violets and say "none of you are safe bets for Saturday - you haven't been good enough"

    He won't though.

I honestly haven't forced it on them though, they had the choice ... Everton or the orphanage

Lets get things into perspective on this - over the last few weeks of diabolical performances only Jagielka and Coleman have given any semblance of being players who have any pride and desire to play for Everton. Why are we talking about one of the players who has shown some guts?

Before anyone pipes up, Lets forget the manager here, we could have a hybrid of Christian Gross and Mike Walker managing us who that fans hate and the players despise - I expect an Everton player to look at the fans and play for them.

I don't know what been worse - watching Ross Barkley a lad who has come through the ranks playing like he's at a testimonial or Lukaku "the beast" our £75k a week £28m transfer seeking sulk pretending that he's putting in a shift, telling fans who travelled 250 miles to get behind the team... oh the irony.

Either way in one short shrift against Man United Jagielka told the pair of them exactly what he thought of them - from Jagielka that is like Roy Keane grabbing David Beckham by the throat and slapping him for not tracking back.

I just don't get the criticism of a good honest, solid defender when there is so much more wrong with the team right now.

I don't fully disagree but Martinez wasn't given a golden platter. In Moyes final season, we had the oldest starting 11 in the league just about every week...about 29.something. I remember saying one of the challenges will be to refresh an ageing squad with new talent good enough to keep us at the top. There is a thread about it somewhere, a couple of years ago I think. The amount of new blood needed was always going to be a challenge.

Martinez hasn't helped himself but he has done a good job of reducing the age of an old squad.

That's just it though, I do not believe for one second that these things even themselves out. If that was the case I would be quite looking forward to the Derby next week at Analfield. I would be expecting The Shite to have 6 players incorrectly sent off, have 10 perfectly good goals disallowed and us to win 8-0 with 4 dodgy penalties and 4 clearly offside goals!

Look I'm not claiming we are having a poor season due to bad luck or poor officials. We are in the bottom half because we are shite but luck does play a part

IMO all of this talk of luck, badluck, poor calls, etc is irrelevant because you are now basing results on the officials. Why let them decide the outcome of the match? Does Leicester and Tottenham rely on those things? No, they run their flippin' TAILS OFF each match with a ton of passion, energy, and chemistry, and that is the real reason they sit first and second. The moment we start injecting that amount of passion into our playing, then we will begin to even think about the top 4, but when we don't chase down balls, run half-assed like we are 3/4 empty on fuel, run around the pitch with no plan or teamwork like a bunch of individuals, etc then we need to expect 14th place. Yes, *some* officiating has an impact, but you're as blind as RM if you think that is the reason we are where we are.

The bottom line is that Ranieiri and Ponch inspire their players - you can see it and feel it - Roberto does not. Maybe he did in 13-14 - remember when Rom ran to him and hugged him when he scored against Arsenal - man there was passion! Happy times indeed. It was literally like a different team. You could see it in their eyes and smiles. We don't play in that manner anymore, and that is because RM does not inspire this team, and his tactical approach is a flawed system for this set of specific players. The dream is all but dead now, and all I see is dread and anxiety in Roberto's face these days. The party is over. The irony is that we may win the FA Cup, but I personally will feel like the last two seasons still have been an utter failure.

Fuck all to do with uber pressing. Its called not standing there with your thumb up your arse avoiding doing the bare minimum you expect off a player getting paid a fortune for a proud club.

Barkley and Lukaku have been nothing sort of disgraceful in the past month - no effort, nothing - just not bothered. I've had enough of a fair few in this set up.

Of recent there has only been Jags, Coleman, McCarthy and Barry who actually look like they care.

So jealous watching Leicester today. Even when they are mediocre, they still have the energy, passion, chemistry , you fuckin name it....basically everything we are not.

Props to them, SO glad to see them win this instead of the usual big four shite, along with Tottenham, whom i can't stand.

Barry. Let's be honest he's the real captain. Yelling at the players and ref on bad calls. Working his ass off and still going at it at the end of the match. He's very consistent and doesn't disappear in matches. Very good signing I wish he was younger and could play another 5 years.

I've been a backer of Martinez. At the moment I'm pissed off with him.

But see shit like this? This pisses me off more.

Is this by the same fans who paid to fly a banner stating 'Kenwright Out'? Is it the same fans that have heckled Stones, Barkley and Howard?

I sometimes wonder what a section of our 'fans' are upto.

I'm assuming a post like this is going on numerous forums trying to drum up support. To have 700 odd signatures after 8 hours is piss poor.

Let's just try and get behind the team as we chase some elusive silverware and then we can fight it out at the end of the season.

I don't want to get involved in an argument here, however as much as I think he is not right for the job, I refuse to join in a witch hunt of this nature. It is just plain nasty.

I'm gonna say it, much better second half from us and the manager got the subs right. Both changed the game.
Finishing was poor and that's down to the players.

    Agreed.

Iv been a Martinez supporter until the last 6 weeks. I wanted to see how we would evolve too as i think he has done some things right off the pitch but our performances, the spirit, results have been terrible. The investment was the key for me also, as before the thought of the usual managers names being thrown about was sickening, now i think we can attract much better. the next 3 games are massive and i think he will be gone before the Derby or just after. After recent displays i cant see us winning any of our next few games.

I don't think its a case of Kudos - its been a case of tolerances. I was quite prepared to allow him to make mistakes and learn - to kind of be a little bit proud in his obvious hurt and know in his heart that despite painting a different picture in his interviews he was addressing the issues that we were seeing.

Many didn't want him to start with, many got irritated by his overly positive rose tinted glasses. I kinda wanted to see how he would evolve.

To me he has insulted the people who support Everton - how dare he think that he can continue to tell us black is white. I've gone from liking the bloke and having respect for him to just wanting him gone now. I don't think he actually is hurting - I think he believes that the players can't do what he wants them to do and its not his fault.

I have on many occasions alluded to the fact that Rom may be a bit of a flat track bully... yesterday I seen an interesting stat:-

In 21 PL appearances for #EFC against #MUFC, #MCFC, #AFC & #CFC, Romelu Lukaku has scored just 3 times. He must improve in the big games.

Do you seriously believe that if we didn't have Lukaku our other players would be passing the ball into an empty box and wondering why we aren't scoring?
Lukaku is not Everton, when he is gone he will be replaced.
