  1. Your better than that. Is a 1-1 striker our best ever because his stats show one goal in one game? Stats prove he is don't they? Hasn't Haf proved time and time again that Lukaku is not a good footballer yet people argue he is? Or are you agreeing with Haf now....as stats prove him right don't they! Ok I'll retype mine. In my opinion...regardless of stats...Kane is the better footballer. And I couldn't argue with anyone I know against that. But stats prove that Lukaku is better than Ibra don't they.
  2. I cant believe that a football fan would agree that Lukaku is better than Kane with either foot. Seriously, like him or loathe him, Kane can shoot with either foot and can hit them from 10 - 20 or 30 yards. He looks and runs like Chris waddle but is up there with the best in the premier league as far as forwards go.
  3. Not sure about berahino, could he be the Naismith? Or maybe another wannabes. Not sure if he would work with Lukaku.
  4. Don't know why you would close THE most popular thread on the whole site. Since it started I would be surprised if there has been more activity on any other single thread. Ok a large percentage may be Haf, but still.
  5. Agree mate. And also like Pad has pointed out, there is no proof of any of it. Just like there's no proof we would b relegation candidates without him. In my time we have won the league, FA cup and Cup winners cup....all without him. I wan him to stay I really do. The staunch defence of him annoys me more than the player himself. West Brom don't have him....yet they have points on the board. Man U don't have him, again they don't seem to be worried about relegation. My whole point is that he needs to improve just as much as anyone else in the team. Difference is, I actually believe he can. But I'm not blinded by goals either, too old and wise for that. Seen it all before. Our best team in my generation was one that had goals all over the pitch. Even a prolific centre half, at both ends. If we could get a few more goal scorers and keep Lukaku, we could end up challenging for the top six easily.
  6. Your all a bunch of twats! You may be right, but twats haha. 250 that's my point mate. I wish the WHOLE team would improve. But this is a err... well it's a Lukaku thread. So it should be ok to discuss Roms weaknesses? And my wish is for Rom to be a little more pressing and control the ball better. I mean what fan wouldn't want one of their players to improve?
  7. And while we're at it, let's end world famine. Bloody hell if we put the same energy into a worthwhile cause I am sure the novel prize would be coming to TT
  8. I'm astonished, really am. Astonished that people really don't have the ability to see simple points, even if they don't agree with them. No I'm only joking as I know most do and can. But can a simple question be answered? Would you prefer a striker to score 18 and we finish 11th? Or our top scorer to be on 8 and we finishing 6th? I don't think even Haf in his hatred for Lukaku is even blaming everything on Lukaku. I think he is just trying to point out a universal truth....goals aren't everything. He is pointing out that loss of possession cheaply is a deteremenr to the team..... simple really isn't it? Now if Rom could score the same goals a season and improve his ball retention by...say 1%....then surely the thinking evertonian can see that, that would be a positive for the team? Now if we could just agree to that, then maybe we wouldn't have to read endless posts about the same old same old! Maybe people would get back to debating subjectively about one of our prize assets. And rate him or not.... he is arguably our greatest asset.
  9. Joel to start again according to the boss.
  10. I don't think argument is it's directly his fault, but rather the lack of possession puts more pressure on the team, resulting in more goals against. Or that's the way I read it. Let's look at it logically....best striker in 20 years many say....so are the last few years our best for 20 years? Again I am not saying I agree, just that I can see the point and the strength behind it. Personally I think it's the general team set up. MC has argued for months now that we don't need two sitting mids and I believe this is our biggest problem. It leaves a huge space behind Rom and this only accentuates his weakness at holding the ball up. Not his fault, it's the set up. I would argue though Haf, that his passing is much better than you credit. When he does get the ball under, he generally pings a decent ball to his team mates. He also has a decent cross on him, the type that he would thrive off!
  11. It's easy to see what Haf is saying even if you don't agree with him. No point being Keenan's Newcastle. Lukaku could score 100 goals a game, but if he gives the ball away too much and we lose the match......it doesnt matter. He is alluding to the fact that to date, the goals haven't helped us. I see it a little differently. Lukaku is weak in some areas but his strengths outweigh them for me. Like A few have said.... put the right players around him and we may see him improve. Look at the difference when we reverted to 442 and Barkley came on against Leicester. Rom should have had an assist from a lovely ball after Barkley played to Roma strength. Then he scored a very good goal.
  12. But it's the military references that don't add up. I know loads of lads who joined the army to get away from normal life after being bullied. People are people and being a soldier doesn't make you tough. It's what your made of that makes you tough, not your call in life.
  13. Hasn't he been dropped because he doesn't make any effort in training? Had a good season last year admittedly but before then I hadn't heard of him.
  14. Men aren't just people in the military mate, you should know that. And all military men should be classed as "men" . You should also know that. We're not dinosaurs, footballers are technical players these days. The tough hard men can't compete these days because the professional players are harder to be bullied. Bloody changed my phone to an iPhone haha does what it wants.
  15. I agree with you. In today's market 29m is pretty standard for a forward. I don't want to sell him either, but he does frustrate me at times, just like Ross.
  16. I dont think it's a silly point at all Pad.He isn't the only player that fans have referenced a sell on fee for. 29m for me will be paid off with 5 seasons of 20 goals. I want to progress as a club, not buy players just so we can profit on. Your not the only one who mentions sell on fees by the way Pad. It's a regular transfer window point.
  17. Yep. He's getting to the end but I don't think we should get rid on an area we are short.
  18. This is why most of the top teams don't really play with a traditional striker anymore.
  19. I have a post it on my laptop waiting! I won't let you get away with it!
  20. I s the think the problem is solely Lukaku though. I agree with Haf in some points. What's the use of having a striker that scores 30 goals if your team only scores 35? Wouldn't it benefit the team more to have a striker that scores 15 - 20 goals and your team scores 50? Perfect scenario would be a striker that scores 30 and a team that scores 50+!....and here lies our problem. Same as Barkley, get the best out of Rom. Work on building a team that can augment Rom. Rom isn't necessarily our problem, he is an asset that needs building on. Oh and please, we are fucking Everton not Sunderland. Who gives a shit about sell on value, build players for success not to merc out.
  21. I did yes. Still will reserve judgement until the opposition shoots before I can say if he's any good though.
  22. It's these bits where he needs to look at and realise that this is the level we need. If he can gain confidence from it we may see the real Barkley stand up.
