  1. A good foundation starts with one brick. Whether that's a player a member of staff or an owner, it's still one brick. The best teams are built to augment their best players or player. Then you add each piece of the jigsaw until your puzzle is complete.
  2. I don't think many people are actually comparing him to Deeney pad, just popping bring out that Deeney is better than Lukaku in some aspects. If it became a choice between the two, I would obviously keep Rom. My point is more that if Rom could up hos work rate a little then it would make him twice the player and also help the team more. I see no point in having a golden boot winner and finishing tenth or below. I would much rather finish higher and have all round scorers.
  3. But that's what recent years have brought us Everton fans down to. We believe we are lucky to have a player can score goals and don't believe we have the right to have a player that can be both. Just to point out though, there is a decent in between type. It doesn't have to either Deeney, Lukaku or Suarez...or hard worker, lazy but scores, or worldwide! We can mould Lukaku into an average working good goalscorer. And that, I would be more than happy with.
  4. From what I have seen, deeney is a harder working player, better in the air and stronger at holding the ball up. Is that fair?
  5. Us but more due to the other team being limited to a couple of half chances.
  6. So we shouldn't sign Schniederlin then as he is failing at Man U?
  7. Don't agree about Messi, always thought he looks a pain in the ass when I have watched him. Decent work rate there.... not a massive follower though I admit so may have caught him his good days.
  8. Barkley had a good rating because he performed well at his strengths.... much the same as Lukaku gets good ratings when he performs to his strengths. If a goalkeeper keeps a clean sheet after making two world ie saves but doesn't run enough....would he get a below average score? Funny thing is people will defend Lukaku when he is called out for it , but then criticise Barkley for the same thing? Lukaku and Barkley do need to work harder....but Ross was good against arsenal and created chances....Lukaku didn't score, but he did do a job up there. I honestly feel that the whole Lukaku topic is poisoning us as fans. We seem to be punishing players in an attempt to defend Lukaku. As good as a goal scorer he is......it would be the best thing for TT if he left. I'm sure people would get back to being objective again instead of obsessed.
  9. Just love watching him make football look easy.
  10. By if we buy the right players to play around him, he could fill that potential. It's all ifs and buts at the moment and we can't know for sure. But I still root for him.
  11. I don't think we should be setting the club up to just make a profit on players , but rather to improve our team. And Ross is an Everton fan....to him we are the best club there is.
  12. He is the one player that we need to keep hold of if we are to show any ambition.
  13. I agree with 90% of what you say about him I see it, I really do. He frustrates the hell out of me and I shout at him twice as much as any player in our squad. But I also see that used in the right way in the right team, there is a very valuable player there. He is lazy and does talk to much about his own belief in himself...I hate that about him. But I also recognise the importance of having that self belief. What I do see is that even if he hasn't worked for his goals....just like Watford when he was one of the worst players on the pitch....he seems to have that knack of being in the right place. Now this doesn't make up for his weaknesses by any means, but it is an asset. If we could turn Lukaku into a hard working dedicated Everton player , to add to his goal scoring prowess... then surely we would have some player on our hands. Disclaimer: I am not in any way saying we can turn him into that player, but much the same as Barkley... there is a chance.
  14. As long as coutinho is still out, they aren't the same team.
  15. Gotta leave this thread alone for a while. Haf you are trying to make your point, but all that is happening is people are defending him more rather than objectively. I want Rom to stay as I do t see many better goal scorers available. But to say he worked hard is utterly ridiculous! He was average at the very best. But in his defence he DID win a few headers and did press better. Not to the level that he should, but it's a step in the right direction. The issue is that this thread is a loaded thread and not an objective one....from both sides. There are the posters that are still objective....but the regulars are either anti Lukaku or anti Hafnia. What was once a very informative thread is turning into a slug fest between two warring factions. Ridiculous statements that Lukaku is only lazy because of bad service? What? Say that again? Or Lukaku can finish but isn't productive? Again...what? Step back guys and get back to reality!
  16. Guys take a step back. You are both right here! Lukaku is our most productive goal and assist machine. He isn't our best player or our best performer! He is lazy He has shit control He is a good finisher He is a nice guy He isn't good with the media It does soins like he is good in the dressing room, which I don't know if anyone ever notices? He always seems to be involved in joking aroins with teammates and banter.
  17. Think he is pointing out that in a low scoring team it's likely for the main forward to have the most to do with goals. Just as the goalkeeper is likely to make most saves and the centre half likely to make the most headers. Yet those players don't get the same admiration. But the post does show that Lukaku is productive as a forward. Just wish we could swap his goals for points.
  18. Richly Bazaar! May even find the genie lamp there.
  19. Baines block in the last seconds was literally worth two points.
  20. Won two headers from corners, defended two headers at our end. Made a good run and challenge for the corner which left Williams a free header for the winner. Also was a nuisance for their defence. Pretty impressive for so little time.
  21. No credit for Koeman.... he obviously read TT! Also have Calvert Lewyn a run out.
  22. McCarthy for me. He was immense tonight, bags of energy and back to his snapping tackles. Thought Coleman, Baines and Barkley were great too. Mention for Valencia too as he looked dangerous. Also a mention for the young lad Calvert Lewyn, what a cameo. His challenge for the corner made the space for Williams and he also got on a few corners both ends.
